We were walking home and notice the entrance to the sky bar but the bar/restaurant was more our style. We stopped in for brunch the next day. The patio area was was slightly busy so we sat at the bar. We ordered drinks, smoked salmon omelette and salad with salmon. Both were very good. The candied walnuts were nice treats in the salad. The omelette was the best. It was packed with salmon. This was a good find. Looking forward to try the quiche. read more

Great food, drinks, and view of the park. We had tickets for a show at the Auditorium Theater, and had not been in the South Loop for a fair amount of time... so wandering around the neighborhood we stumbled upon Grant Park Bistro and decided to give it a try. The duck confit croquettes and the coq au vin were both outstanding and the cocktails, wine list and beer selection on tap were well suited to match the quality of the meal. Plus, the views of the park from the outdoor section were just about perfect for a summer evening. We'll definitely be back soon! read more

BEST HAPPY HOUR ON THE BLOCK! Grant Park Bistro has a nice variety of drinks and food to choose from during their happy hour. We really enjoyed hanging out on their patio for a few drinks. I recommend the wings, french fries, and the burger but would not recommend the chicken sandwich. I have not tried their entire menu but would like to go for brunch (bottomless mimosas) and also try a pasta next time. Service is always great and their patio is lovely!! Staying at the Essex Hotel and came across the Grant Park Bistro for happy hour. I ordered the American Burger and Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc beer. I believe I just ate the best burger I have ever eaten! It was unbelievable! Here's the kicker...it was $7!!!! The beer was $4! $11 bucks for one of the best meals ever! The chicken pate was delicious and only $4! Staff was great and attentive! We were looking for something near our theater to eat before our play. First of all in that location the choices are slim on a Sunday afternoon. I made a reservation at Grant Park Bistro hoping this would work for our party of 4. I will admit we did show up 25 minutes late to our reservation. The hostess was rude, even though the restaurant was empty. There were many empty tables. I believe about 3 tables in the restaurant were occupied. The hostess preceded to tell us there were no tables available for us (what?!) Then she said we could sit at the table behind the hostess stand. Let me tell you this is the most uncomfortable table in the restaurant and in my opinion was done to "punish" us because we were late for our reservation. If you ever get sat at this table turn around and walk right out. It is a high top table shoved right up against the hostess stand and the stools are very uncomfortable. The food wasn't "bad" perse, but nothing unique to keep me coming back for more. All this restaurant has is the convenient location of being close to the theater. Skip it and find somewhere else that appreciates your business. read more

Chicago has many amazing restaurants. For that price point - do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE else. We came for brunch on a Saturday. Despite the fact that there were only a couple of tables occupied, everything was slow. Our food took forever - and after it was ready, I could see it getting stale under the warming lamps while our waitress did nothing at the bar. None of the dishes we ordered were good. We waited 15min for a cappuccino. After my dry and salty omelete, I asked for the dessert menu. She brought it. But never came back to ask if we wanted to order anything. I could see her idling at the bar, yet she never looked our way so we couldn't get her attention. We had to go look for someone to get the check. We were not in a rush, we actually waited for maybe 15 min for someone to even look our way. I actually don't like those waiters that come every couple of minutes to ask if you need anything - but I don't think I've ever been that neglected at any restaurant in town. Oh, and there were food crumbs on most seats. The location is fantastic and the decor is pretty - but don't let that fool you. read more

The hotel gave us very generous coupons so we decided to give it a try. We entered the main entrance facing the park and we're the only one waiting at the front desk. No host, 10 minutes passed, and 4 servers passed us without greeting or asking us whether we were helped. Finally the bartender came. Food was okay, crispy cauliflower was soggy, only 4 wings per order, and the chicken sandwich and boneless chicken were acceptable. Would be better if the dishes have more vegetables. The bills were charged to our rooms. CHECK YOUR BILLS!! We were charged 3 times, one of which wasn't even the food we ordered!! Took more than 24 hours and multiple calls to get the charges corrected. Drinks were good though. read more

Tried again in September. Arrived about 4:30 pm on a weekday and of course, only the "midday menu" was available and the bartender was our server outside. The wine was very nice but overpriced. The bartender was able to provide us with salads (not on the menu) but all we were able to get were chicken sandwiches. We wanted dessert and even ordered what we wanted but our server dropped a check, so he officially decided we were done. We won't be back again, even though we live right in the neighborhood. Between the service, the prices and the non-French, bland food, there's no reason to return. read more

Was really excited to try this place but the service was terrible. Our server didn't give us her name but she had bright red hair. Both me and my friend are of age and just graduated college so we came here to get a celebratory drink. My friend forgot her ID so I suggested to go home and get it, and the server said "I know that trick". I told her it was not a trick, we live down the street and she said she was joking. She was not. When my friend came back with her ID she told her she was not 21, even though she is 22. Then she just walked away and had the host come check her ID, and said it was fine. Then a different server came up to our table to check on us but at this point we just wanted to leave. I just love going to Grant Park Bistro! Had another delicious dinner there last night in advance of going to a performance at the Auditorium Theater. The beautiful dining room fells cozy and comfortable and has just the right level of liveliness without being too noisy. My three guests and I much enjoyed trying the delicious soup of the day - Parsnip and coconut - yum!! Our main courses of grilled salmon, coq au vin and steak / frites were equally delicious, served quickly and with a smile by the great staff at GPB. As always they made our visit extra special.... We came in on a Sunday afternoon. The place was empty, but slowly filled while we dined. We were mostly there for drinks but also tried the duck croquettes and the soup of the day, which was tomato. The duck was delicious! I had never tried duck before but have had many croquettes, so I thought it would be a good and safe way to try duck. Unlike other croquettes I've had, these were like entire pieces of duck, and that's not a bad thing! They were excellent! I don't like tomato soup, but since someone ordered it, I gave it a try. It was creamy, thick, and very flavorful. I would recommend both of these. Most importantly, the drinks were fantastic! I am so picky about dirty martinis, and our server was great!!
