The silver lining was they were willing to give a refund after staff may have agreed the 'this does not compute' sign on my face was flashing. There are many other friendly vineyards more deserving of your currency. We went across the street (2 or so miles...relatively speaking)! and found Rhinory, which not only treated us like royalty but were very laid back, kind, and after several days of going to the top-rated vineyards -- not only imo were the best but support a good cause. This has been our favorite experience on the Texas Wine Passport tour this year. Eve was a friendly, fun and knowledgeable host at the bar serving our wine tasting flight. We stuck to reds, and enjoyed all the ones we tasted. Interestingly, our favorites in order of preference were the cheapest at number 1 and most expensive at number 4. We liked the Cabernet Trio the best, the Bellisimo, Invention and then Serendipity. We liked it so much, we joined the wine club and then stayed for lunch at the member's only restaurant-Stouts. There is plenty of seating for members inside and out, with a patio separate from the restaurant, where they serve small bites and wine. The restaurant also has outdoor and inside seating. We chose inside to avoid the heat, but will definitely look forward to eating outside next time for a better view. The pricing is a little high, but the portions are generous and the quality was good. I had Crab Cakes Benedict with home fried potatoes, and my husband had a breakfast burger that was large with lots of Parmesan fries. We enjoyed both very much. Update: we went back for lunch a few days later and had the delicious meatballs, hummus & veggies and meat lovers pizza. It was all fantastic! Can't wait to go again. read more

Expensive tastings for poor quality wine. This vineyard is preying on tourist to join their club by offering "great discounts" on purchases. In reality it's a bunch of rude wine snobs that care more about your tip than what you actually think of your visit or the wine that they sell. They try to push more groups in one day than they can handle so your time during a tour or tasting is rushed. They don't greet you when you walk in, they don't tell you where to go and they certainly don't care if you ever come back. Whatever you do regardless of the incentives they offer you don't join the wine club. They will try to charge your card a million times even after telling them to cancel your membership. Which is not as easy of a process as they so claim it to be. -1/10. read more

Persnickety is the best word to describe this place. Why does a winery feel the need to have a list of rules on the entrance pillars and why do some of those rules even exist? We went around opening on a Tuesday, so we didn't think we would need a reservation. Parking lot was empty, members pavilion was empty, restaurant was empty, tasting room was empty yet when we asked to do a tasting they said we couldn't because they were booked up. I couldn't help but laugh and was very happy to go drink wine and spend money elsewhere. We've been members of other wineries and have tried to give this one several shots in the past... we've done tastings and bought bottles. The wine is okay, nothing great. The facility is pretty but you cannot really enjoy it anyway because there is this inescapable cloud of someone trying to over control silly things and strangle out any opportunity for a customer to smile, relax and enjoy a glass of wine with friends. read more

We were on the 209 winery tour, which is basically a hop on/hop off bus. We hopped off and when we went up, we were told that we were too big a group. We had 10 people and they could not service a group that large as we would make too much noise. We offered to subdivide into a group of six and four and they refused. This is early in the day and we have not had anything to drink at that point. The clerk was unapologetic and we asked him what we were supposed to do because the bus was gone and he shrugged and said I don't know. Never actually encountered anything so rude nor stupid in my life. We offered to adhere to their rules and they would not let us. read more

We like the vineyard so much we became members! They are one of the oldest wineries in the area and uphold an excellent reputation. The location is beautiful with a wonderful landscape to enjoy as you taste their wine offerings. We were fortunate to have an amazing host for our tasting. He provided detailed descriptions on each of the wines and offered excellent recommendations. Grape Creek has a variety of wines to satisfy any palate, whether you are looking for something crisp and refreshing or more full-bodied and complex. So we left and went to Becker where we were accommodated with smiles . Then we went back with friends who were members and had a better experience and decided to join... We then went back another time with those same friends, as members, for Sunday brunch... Not only was our food cold... But for a burger and pizza and one additional mimosa... We were charged $108. Our server was very dismissive and did not want us to view the ticket... We have owned restaurants for 17 years and I know that I could've spoken with a manager and probably gotten it taken care of, but that was a two strikes and you're out situation. I have visited wineries literally around the world and have to say this was the worst I have ever experienced. The level of arrogance was palpable. I'm a member of several wine clubs (California, Washington and Texas). I was excited to go to Grape Creek with friends who are members. Usually wine club members are treated very well. Given the margin they afford the wineries, they are generally considered an important part of the business. Had I not been with my friends, I wouldn't have even been allowed in! And when they picked up their club allotments they were initially told they couldn't get a glass of wine. Seriously! Get over yourselves. The guy at our front entrance gave us a warm greeting! He helped me pick out wine and shared a little tip on how to store it: the cork needs to stay wet to prevent the wine from oxidizing, so keep your wine tilted. The inside of the building was very clean and classy, reminding me of a fine dining restaurant. The customer service was excellent; they retrieved the wine quickly, and I was able to get in and out in under 10 minutes. Despite not drinking myself, I bought the wine as gifts, and I'm sure my friends will love it! Additionally, both the restrooms and the outdoor walking area were nice and clean. DONT GO HERE I don't leave negative reviews often, but I will say of all the wineries in Fredericksburg that I visited, this is the rudest winery I've ever been to. We drove all the way from Austin and this was the first winery we're visiting. We have a service dog with us and the winery clearly states that service dogs are allowed. When we walk up to check in for the tasting that we paid for in advance, she was incredibly rude and basically grilled us on my dog being a service dog. She completely crossed a line, asking questions that violated HIPPA compliance. Her name is Julia and she is the rudest woman I've ever met. The group that we joined later said that she was really mean to them as well. Later, we got questioned again by another woman, Kimberli (she was nicer about it but it frustrated us because it was the second time we were being interrogated. I 100% think Julia spoke in their earpiece to question us. There is no reason to be questioned twice when I provided the accurate information about my service dog and the establishment says they allow them. It was just rude and negative energy all around for a place that's rated #1 on Trip Advisor. We later went to a nearby winery and told them about our experience. They said "yes, they are very militant there. It's because they have a lot of money, sell wines in stores and boast having tons of members". At the end of the day, my service dog is well trained, certified through an accredited organization and trained in the CGC guidelines, yet I was accosted by Julia about it and the entire time felt I was being watched... For starters, you do need a reservation for tastings. If you go right when they open you MAY be able to do a walk in. I went at 1130 on a Saturday and was able to do a walk in. This is a members only winery UNLESS you are doing a tasting. Even once you are finished with the tasting, if you don't become a member you might as well leave because there is no seating for you. This vineyard is just a huge sales pitch. The grounds are beautiful but I would recommend going to another winery if you plan to get a bottle or a glass and just enjoy yourself. I will say, the wine is really good. If you want something similar, I'd recommend baron creek or William chris. read more

I don't recommend this winery and am extremely disappointed in this winery. I booked the "Tour and Wine Tasting" experience for myself and 4 others in my group. At Almost $50 per person, I expected there to be a quality, knowledgeable tour guide, and engaging experience, but was utterly disappointed in both. When the tour began, we were initially taken to the machines where grapes are pressed. When I asked two fairly simple questions about the press, the tour guide didn't know and the response to one of the questions was literally "I get asked that at least once a week", but still didn't know the answer. The second area we were taken to was the fermentation room, we were given our first tasting and it was at most a one-ounce pour. Again, when I asked a question about the tour, the tour guide gave a very general answer as if she didn't know much about Grape Creek or their process. The third room we were taken to was their barrel room, where we again were poured maybe one ounce pours for each of the three tastings of Petit Verdot in neutral, American, and French oak, all of which were subpar wines (our group even poured out the first one). After our "informative" brief of the barrel room was complete, we ended up having to keep ourselves entertained for literally 15 minutes while the group ahead of us finished their tasting. The time management of the tour was embarrassing for Grape Creek, and during the wait, the host was neither engaging with the group nor offered us more wine as a consolation while we stood around. In the tasting area, we had the opportunity to taste any 3 wines, and again, were given one-ounce pours. Our wine server was again not confident and knowledgeable about the wines we were having or Grape Creek's process and philosophy. When we finished our tastings, I asked if we could get a bottle or have a glass and was told we couldn't. Grape Creek's policy is that only members are allowed to have a glass of wine. Even though we were paying customers of the tour, if we didn't become wine club members, since the tour was over, we couldn't get any more wine. While Grape Creek reserves its right to have its own rules and prioritize its members, it came off as incredibly pretentious. The wine, nor experience was remotely good enough to make us want to become wine club members and honestly baffled myself and my group with how much we seemed to be looked down on and limited in our experience at Grape Creek. I don't recommend Grape Creek Winery and honestly am embarrassed to have taken my group there. read more

Unfortunately, today's visit was a major disappointment. Upon arrival, Andrea greeted us with noticeable rudeness and a complete lack of warmth or professionalism. It felt like we were being treated with disdain from the moment we stepped in. Inside, while picking up my wine shipment, Joanne couldn't seem to get my name right and had a visible attitude about the process. When we informed her we wouldn't be staying, she insisted we go through the drive-thru despite the fact that we were already inside, standing right in front of her, fully capable of walking out with it ourselves. We were also picking up a shipment for a friend, and instead of handling it with basic courtesy, Joanne gave us unnecessary attitude and remarked that "they better be okay with it." I've had great experiences here in the past, which makes this all the more disappointing. Something has clearly changed. I've removed my previous positive review and will leave this one until I have another experience worth praising. If this type of treatment continues, I will seriously consider canceling my membership altogether... This is my first time in Fredericksburg and this is the first wine tasting we wanted to try and the experience was absolutely TERRIBLE and we didn't even make it past paying for a wine tasting. They made it a big deal that we had 8 people and suggested for us to break up our group into two which we were completely fine with. We get to the register and some blonde, rude boy kept rolling his eyes when we explained what HIS coworker told us. Then he proceeds to get a manager (terrible one at that) for whatever reason and when we explain the situation yet again she tells us she can't accommodate to our big party even if we broke up into 2 groups. My son is a member and had made reservations for 4 for lunch at Stout's Signature at Grape Creek. It was a beautiful day to sit outside on the patio! We ordered a 2016 bottle of Serendipity and it was delicious! For lunch we all shared the cheese plate and then shared a couple of Fall Salads and a Stout Signature pizza. The food was amazing, the atmosphere and service was great! We shopped in the gift store for a few bottles and some wine glasses to take home. The grounds are impeccably manicured and there are beautiful flowering plants and grasses everywhere. We had a wonderful time here and I can't wait to come back for a return visit! read more

Not only was this the best wine we've had outside of Italy/ France (and we moved from CA), but the customer service was beyond incredible. It shocks me that people wrote poorly about this. We had Laurie as our server, and she was so kind, not pushy, gave us extra wine to taste off the menu and we felt like we were enjoying amazing wine in a beautiful location with a long time friend. She is the best, ask for her! She will make you feel like you are the most important person in the room. Hands down do not miss out on coming here! I Have been coming to this winery since it started in the small tan building beside the huge winery it has become. I came to the winery in passing back to Austin 6-8 months ago and stopped to pick up wine and cooking oils. I was treated like dog crap and told I had to buy a tasting to make a purchase. I left thinking this was a fluke and just because they were busy. SO NOT TRUE My friend is a member and joined in Georgetown. She had never been to the actual winery itself. We had a Wine run planned Sat 12/2 and travelled 1.5 hours to come to the Grape Creek winery to let her experience the actual winery itself first before the run. From the moment we approached the members only side we were treated like crap. We were greeted by the lady with " were are you coming from dressed like that? Clearly I have PUZZLED look on my face. She then states we might get questioned on our outfits. We had on leggings, tutu's and wine running shirts for the event we were going to. We all let that go and were rushed through choosing a wine. We bought a bottle for 3 people to share sat down and were talking about what just happened. The host over heard us where we were sitting in the members only area. She quickly got the manager and he came over to talk to us. Doug (the manager) made it crystal clear they only want elite upper class people there after explaining what had happened. Was this A PUN? He said it's their policy to not allow matching shifts. I explained my prior event 6-8 months ago and he defended this with "was it on a Saturday"? WTH? I thought I was on a reality TV show- This can't be real from a MANAGER? It's also your policy for NO PETS on your website, however there was a lab mix running around off leash and nothing was said to him. Even when I brought it to his attention your website says NO PETS I just looked it up. He defended the behavior of the rude staff and his own rudeness. I explained to him word of mouth is powerful and I would be drinking my very last glass of Grape Creek Wine. He was totally fine with that. COMMON people are NOT welcome here. SAVE YOUR MONEY and visit one of the many wineries on 290. We left and went to Fat Ass winery and they LOVED that we spent our "lower class" money there. Had a WAY better time here.
