Jim and Nancy the couple/owners are great people! The wine tasting room was not very busy when we came in so we got fast service at the tasting/bar area. Not much outdoor seating at all in the front patio except for a few chairs and tables. Very nice design inside, welcoming, open, lots of natural light, a modern feel to it. We both did wine by the glass vs a tasting flight as we found wines that jumped at us both right away. I did a 22 Valley Mills Albarino and loved it, my wife did a Muscat Canelli and also enjoyed that. Our chat with Jim was priceless. What a cool guy and how friendly! We could have sat and talked with him forever I swear. He also let us each try a sample pour of the 20 Rustic Spur Semillon they have and I enjoyed that as well. Lastly was the half glass each we tried of their Lava Bluff 21 Montepulciano. I love my Italian classic grape varietals so this was a nice comparison. Thumbs up all around by both my wife and I. We walked in & were greeted by Dana. Dana took us on a journey through wine! She was friendly & taught me more about wine in an hourish than I'd learned in years. I just drank it occasionally. This is the best place ever. They are very knowledgeable about wines and will even help novice wine drinkers explore new wines. Dana told us about great restaurants, vineyards, dessert shops in the area and we loved her hospitality. It was definitely the highlight of our trip. We had the absolute ideal experience at Vintners, not only was the wine amazing and the building beautiful and welcoming, the entire staff was so knowledgeable and friendly. Being new to the area the ladies working made sure to tell us all the good places to check out in the area when we left. The wine was amazing and opened me up to some new tastes I never knew I loved. We were not happy with our server who keep leaving saying she'd be back in a hot second. They would ask what we wanted to but on the list was just names not what blend it was. This little gem is a must-visit when you're in downtown Fredericksburg. The small tasting room is made to feel spacious with a high ceiling and comfortable seating. Guests can sit at the bar for a highly interactive tasting with folks who truly love the Texas wine industry. Or, relax at your own table inside or out on the sunny patio. What makes this spot unique is they represent 6 to 8 small boutique wineries that are producing 100% Texas wines in small batches. Some of these winemakers don't even have their own tasting room. The tasting room is owned by a local family, who are also grape growers and know the intimate details of wine in the Hill Country. The menu changes since the wines are limited production, and currently they offer 6 tastings of 1oz pours which you choose from a list of about 16 wines. What a great way to get a nice overview of what's possible in our state! The wine pourers are always helpful and can guide you in what wines you may enjoy most, based on your personal preferences. Plus, nearly every time you come in, there is something new on the list for you to try. It's also a good stop if you want a nice cheese and charcuterie board for lunch or an afternoon snack. Some of the best quality Texas wines are being produced by small (we're taking very small) "boutique" wineries. The cost of owning and operating a tasting room can be an expensive and time-consuming undertaking for a winery owner. So, to help alleviate some of the pain associated with this problem, Vintner's Hideaway is here to the rescue! Having opened in April 2018, the owners, Jim and Ranae Mills, feature local hand-crafted wines from Texas. It's a great opportunity for a consumer to taste a selection of top notch 100% Texas wines that they might not otherwise be able to find at large wine shops or bigger tasting rooms. It's a very relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are not only friendly, but also quite knowledgeable about the different wines and wineries. The small batch wineries currently available are Rustic Spurs, Rivenburgh, Fly Gap, and Dandy, Buena Suerte Vineyards and 1851 Vineyards. When we visited, Vintner's Hideaway was hosting a Holiday Winemaker Tasting event. The winemakers of Rivenburgh (John Rivenburgh), Fly Gap (Brock Estes), and Dandy (Rae Wilson) were present to talk about their wines with consumers individually at tables in very intimate small group settings. Bubblies, Rose', Semillion, Trebbiano, Mourvedre, and Tannat Blends, to list a few were available for tasting. It was great to hear each winemaker express their unique approach and passion they have when crafting each wine. You can discern their dedication and tell that their heart and soul is really into to what they create, like any true artist would feel about their work. This is a cool addition to the Texas wine tasting room experience and to what is available in Fredericksburg. It's a special opportunity to try great small batch wines all in one convenient and friendly location. Me and my Girlfriend took a weekend getaway to Fredericksburg. We hopped around until we were suggested to check this place out. Neither of us are really knowledgeable about wine, our plan was just to try as many places out as we could. We ended up staying here for around 2 and a half hours. The Owner and Dana gave us more than just wine. Dana took her time explaining and educating us, teaching us what to look for and side by side tastings after going through their aerator. We had such a great time. They have a few other options other than their own wines, and the owner treated them all the same, suggesting others and having us try them. I really never expected to get a little chemistry lesson along with such great hosting from the entire staff. Only a block off the main strip, definitely check this place out.
