Went to dinner here this evening, the service was very good. The venue is attractive, it's quite stylish. Where this places falls short is the flavor of the food and combination of the flavors. I ordered the the Singapore noodles and Wagyu beef bowl. I would recommend neither. The flavors in the noodles were buzzards combined to create a new flavor I didn't know existed or enjoyed. The beef bowl had a similar odd combination of flavors. The soy sauce on the alleged wagu beef drowned out any flavor the meat naturally had it clashed with the jalapeño creams thing they offered as salad dressing. The one redeeming quality the food had was the Brussels sprouts appetizer. That was good. Completely over rated prices for the quality of the food eaten. A $21 bowl of noodles should be more edible if you expect people to feel like the quality matched what they paid. read more

My visit was definitely worthy of 5 stars. Wether you're here for wine or food, you will not be disappointed by either option. I got the boom boom burger based off recommendation and it was amazing. The flavors blended together gave this smooth almost sweet taste with a very subtle heat to finish it off. I was trying my best to savor it but couldn't resist due to my excitement for the next bite. The side salad was also fresh and tasteful. Definitely not an afterthought like most side salads just half heartedly dumped in a bowl. What a wonderful way to spend our anniversary. Our server, Alex, was friendly and attentive. He made wonderful recommendations which made our dining experience all the better. The potato chips were so yummy as an appetizer. The flank steaks gave the feeling that we were dining at a white tablecloth establishment without the fussiness, and the chocolate lasagna for desert was the perfect combination of chocolate and cream. It was quite good. They've got a nice drink selection from which to choose. We enjoyed a Paso Robles viognier. We made a reservation although it is not required. Wow. I didn't not know what I was getting into when I stopped by the other night for a glass of wine. They have a great selection of wines AND beer!! We sat at the bar and I barely looked over the menu since I wasn't expecting much but sandwiches and cheese plates. But Let me tell you... I was SHOCKED with what we got! We ordered the Brussel sprouts and added quail on top. Wow. So so delicious. Sweet and savory! Then we decided to try the red deer lettuce wraps. Again, so delicious. THEN we got a bacon brownie with vanilla bean ice cream. My mouth is watering typing this out. It's super chocolate with chunks of fresh bacon. It was sinful. I'm so glad we stumbled in here! We just don't haven't eaten here too often and after our most recent visit, we decided to fix that. The food was very good. Wife had the Cuban sandwich and raved about it while I enjoyed the quail tacos. With an appetizer and drinks it was a bit expensive but worth it. I've had a few meals in Kerrville, none of them were memorable. This includes my childhood up thru my 21st birthday. Drinking on the River Walk in San Antonio and then driving to the Hunter House in Ingram for some "quality time" with an old girlfriend complete with an early Sony Handy Cam. Anyone got a old Super 8 player? I decided to revisit Kerrville recently; seeing what progress had been made in almost 20 years of my absence. Well, the dining scene has improved with my first visit to Grape Juice. Going completely the opposite of the usual country kitchen; I didn't even see fries as an option on the menu. No corn nuggets or fried mushrooms with ranch? This county seat has grow up! My mom tagging along for some shopping at the old Gibsons had the in house smoked salmon BLT with a mango salad. She enjoyed the hint of spice on the salad; but still can't pronounce siracha or vinaigrette without making me laugh till my sides hurt. I opted for the wild game antelope sliders. Small patties of medium rare sausage on sweet Hawaiian rolls paired for this day with a tomato based gazpacho. 'Lope Slider Options: Green Goat - Goat cheese and chimichurri Texican - Grilled jalapenos, chipotle lime aoli, slaw, pepperjack B.A.B.B.S - Bacon jam, blue cheese, bacon, red onion, garlic aoli I asked for one of each and the server quipped that I had to choose one; which in the end after a debate in the kitchen I had my way. Sliders=AWESOME. Closest item I can find in our neck of the woods comparable to Tim Love's Lonesome Dove Western Bistro in Fort Worth. That would be my issue not awarding GJ a top of the line 5 star rating. If you offer three options, be prepared to do the work in the kitchen. Don't waste your time. My cousins and I had a horrible experience and nobody has gotten back to us. 2 of us emailed in on their website and the other facebook messengered, and we've gotten no response. I used to go here every time I was in town, but now I will tell everyone I know not to go here. There were more people behind the bar than in the entire restaurant and the service was terrible. It appeared to us that several of the waiters/bartenders were high and that's why they didn't care. They were rude to us the moment we walked in, and then wouldn't stop yelling "bye" at us when we walked out. It was really strange and I have never been treated that poorly at a restaurant, ever. There were other tables complaining and a cook came out to help one table that couldn't get service. I would be embarrassed and appalled if I owned or managed this place. read more

Truly eclectic menu! Not something you'll find anywhere else. The wine list is small but excellently curated. We enjoyed the Redfish Shmear as an appetizer, with "Year of the Deer" and "Crack" Aroni for entrees. Everything was terrific! The venison was tender, with a nicely piquant sauce. The Asian Salad selected as a side to the "Crack"-aroni was a perfect complement. And we topped it all off with Crème Brûlée with peach jam topping, so yummy! This is our go to for camp drop off and pick up in the summers. The food is always superb and we really like the atmosphere and ambience. You cannot miss the Brussel sprouts--they are out of this world. Even if you hate Brussel sprouts, you need to order and try them. Trust me. Fish tacos are delicious, schmear is delicious, salads fresh and good, burgers yummy--we haven't had a bad meal in six years and between the five of us have ordered just about everything on the menu.
