I was invited to a dinner at Grape Juice. For years I've driven by this place I never thought much about it. And I wouldn't have known anything about it. Except for my friends who are both definitely good cooks themselves .they raved about this place. And I'll tell you I was not disappointed. The complete opposite in fact. Grape Juice has a very good rather extensive beer and wine list. I ordered a Commissar Stout from Real Ale brewing company. That was as complex a beer as I've had in a very long time. For food, we started with The Brussel sprouts topped with bacon and a special sweet soy drizzle AMAZING! For the entree rather than study the menu, we went in unison for the special flat iron steak with truffle mashed potatoes and pan seared broccoli with black garlic sauce! I got mine rare and was very happy with that beautiful and full flavored piece of beef. It came to the table fully and correctly sliced covering a rather generous portion of those awesome truffle potatoes. Tasty and not too much truffle, which can happen. Hats off to the kitchen staff. Grape juice is not a hole in the wall and not an upscale with fancy decor establishment. Yet you'd be hard pressed to find better, more well prepared food. I rarely give 5 stars to a restaurant on my first visit! But this is good eats all the way!! read more

Ordered the Asian salad which was composed of Romaine and very little Napa cabbage, very few almond slivers, and even the peanut flavored dressing was thin and not nearly as good as it could be. Mostly a bowl of Romaine. Some of the lettuce was brown on the edges. Really this salad should be Napa cabbage and not all that Romaine. Just somewhat bland. Service was nice and the atmosphere is calm and allows groups to be able to chat. Had dinner there a year ago and everyone thought the food was ok then - but not great, One Buddha bowl was so spicy hot that only one person at the table of 8 could actually ingest it. My crab cakes were not even as good as the frozen crab cakes from HEB - So while it is an ok place to go, manage your expectations or you will be disappointed. Stick to a burger maybe. I was blown away by how good this restaurant was. It's in such a small town that really isn't known for food, but traveling to Fredricksburg all the time I wanted to check out a winery in Kerrville. The winery staff recommended Grape Juice and boy was it worth it. This is probably the best meal I've had in the area and I really wish it was closer to Fredricksburg. Grape Juice is without a doubt a culinary gem in quaint town of Kerrville. My gal pal was able to snag a dinner reservation - which I hear is impossible during a busy event weekend like the Kerrville Folk Festival. The decor is very coffee shop/wine bistro with local art on the walls, promo signs for local breweries, a bar, table seating, private nooks, and a back patio. The menu is exceptional. You'll have trouble making a final decision, so I rec multiple shared plates. I did appreciate how there was a small selection of gluten-free, organic and locally sourced items. The cabrito chili was the standout, followed by the brussels sprouts. The quail lettuce wraps sounded interesting in theory but were completely over-salted and had far too much rosemary, so I didn't have more than a bite. The wine though. Thank you, Grape Juice, for introducing me to Maynard James Keenan's (of Tool) wine called Chupacabra. Can't wait to check out the Arizona winery - Caduceus Cellars - and Merkin Vineyards. read more

My wife and I stopped in at Grape Juice on a little weekend getaway to Kerrville and it is one of the best places we've been in the state of Texas. For starters, the great selection of wines and draft beer are enough to keep one company for a long time! But the food... my gosh, the food. I didn't expect such excellence, but it was up there with anything I've ever eaten. I had the Q-B-G tacos and the kettle chips, and my wife added chicken to the brussel sprouts; we were both blown away. My husband ordered a special, Texas Brisket Burger (brisket & ground beef, with 2 fried lobster ravioli) which he loved and a ale, I ordered the Grilled Cheese (Smoked Gouda, Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Mozzarella, Blue Cheese with bacon & tomato) one of the best I've ever had. Grape Juice is a cute, awesome spot in Kerrville! In short: food is awesome and restaurant is cute but non-alcoholic drinks are non-existant. The drive to west Texas is lacking in foodie joints but Kerrville is my new go to spot! Despite a few small drawbacks, the overall experience is fantastic. The atmosphere is relaxed but hip inside with ingenious lounging and snacking areas separated with heavy curtains (brilliant) and a group of tables at the back in chic Texas style. The back patio is quaint - could use some more cushions on the chairs but it's great for enjoying the weather. They also provide a basket of blankets for cooler weather which is a nice touch. The menu looks awesome and the dishes live up to it. I had the pulled pork tacos and they were amazing. The beer slaw and slow cooked onions, sweet BBQ sauce...heavenly. The black beans with it were bland though, despite a chipotle sauce on top. The spring berry salad was delicious too! The greens were beautiful and fresh - not the generic grocery lettuce. The dressing was light and perfect with ripe berries on top. Loved it! The antelope sliders were good - the green goat wasn't that great (the chimichurri just seemed strange) but the bacon jam and blue cheese one was great! The desserts sounded promising but I didn't have room to try - bacon chocolate brownie or strawberry cream cheese cobbler. A few things were frustrating there. They don't have non-alcoholic drinks listed anywhere and when I inquired about some, our server was less than helpful, only saying "We're out of lemonade today." While they are a beer and wine place, the good food is bound to bring in non-drinkers and with such creativity on the food, some drinks would be great too. Also, I'd love it if they made a slider tasting trio; they have three kinds of sliders and three to a plate - wouldn't it make sense to allow new visitors to try all of them? Flies on the back patio are ridiculous. It's irritating to swat all through your meal so some simple fly traps would also be a major improvement. Definitely recommend Grape Juice as my meal was fantastic and I can't wait to return! P.S. No actual grape juice or soda is sold here. I came back after remember what great food I had ordered the first time. i again ordered the chupacabra (mac'n cheese with pulled pork and coleslaw), the quail tacos and the spicy chile mousse. I thought the tacos were good ( I traded my friends a taco for one of pulled pork and one of fish. I thought the fish taco was dry (needed more sauce) and fried very crispy. It was overcooked. The pulled pork taco was very good, moist and tasty. The quail taco was good, but overloaded with too much sauce and cheese. It was served with beer cheese and tortilla chips and that was pretty tasty. The chocolate mousse had a slight hint of spiciness and was very rich. It wasn't too sweet but it was very well-balanced. I'm always a fan of Grape Juice. The food is very good and they have a wide selection of beer and wines. Happy Hour is from 3-5pm. read more
