A great place to go for brunch in Green Bay. The wife and I have come to this place a few time and we have yet to leave disappointed. The food is good and well priced, and the service is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the Spinach and Artichoke Dip there as well as their Maple Bacon French Toast. Really nice, homey atmosphere. Our waitress, Teri, was very pleasant. My husband had the Farmers Omelette, which was quite hearty, and he left feeling full and satisfied. I had the Berry Hazelnut French Toast which was good, but I would have liked more hazelnut glaze. I did like the addition of the fresh strawberries on the plate. Their dessert case is a sight to behold-we took a piece of the Tuxedo Cake home-can't wait to dive into it! . Prices are pretty reasonable for what you get-will definitely come back! read more

Came here during the initial weeks of the egg recall on serious a breakfast craving. We assumed with a "gourmet dining" claim that the Grapevine would deliver. After we were seated by a gesture from the back of the house our middle-aged-very-disgruntled-stuck-in-the-wrong-restaurant bad diner waitress greeted us with a forced smile and raspy voiced, "Whadda-ya-wanna-drink?" Right... disappointment right off the bat. I ordered coffee and the husband ordered a vanilla latte, judging by their extensive and overpriced espresso bar menu that it was going to be top notch. Incorrect. The coffee was okay for diner standards. The vanilla latte was TERRIBLE. The chunky foam on top of the latte was cold and was definitely leftover from a previous frothing session. The liquid residing beneath the foam was gray. Gray. What color are lattes supposed to be? Not gray. I was thoroughly confused at the quality of this drink seeing they have a pretty decent espresso machine. Upon her dreadful return we inquired with our waitress about where their eggs were sourced, whether they were part of the recall, etc. Essentially, her answer was, "I don't know and I don't care." I'm not going to waste any typing power on the mindless BS verbal vomit she tried to spew out. All I remember was that we did not get a conclusive answer and were not confident in ordering eggs. That completely put us off breakfast but we had made the drive out to this awkwardly located restaurant/home goods store/complete stranger's dining room and decided to stay. The "homey atmosphere" idea is great but is executed poorly at the Grapevine Cafe with the plastic wrap still on the seat cushions and price tags still on the table lamps and fake floral arrangements. So tacky! "Oh, sorry, can we take this chair from under you? Someone wants to buy it." That situation was in the back of my mind the whole time. So... no eggs, what's breakfast with no eggs. We had to settle with oatmeal since practically everything else had eggs in it. Our oatmeal arrived. We chuckled. We blew the dried parsley garnish off Gordon Ramsay style. I pulled my fresh fruit slices off the fresh-out-of-the-dishwasher-hot plate because I, like most people, don't like fruit to be hot unless it's in a pie. I also pondered the use of spring mix greens all squished and wilted between the oatmeal bowl and hot plate as a non-slip pad. We dug away at our massive bowls of oatmeal, we waited for over 30 minutes for our bill, we paid the total, we drove home thinking about how we could nominate this establishment for Kitchen Nightmares. If you've ever wanted to pretend you lived in a furniture store, the Grapevine Cafe will take you one step closer to that dream. This is a furniture store where you can pull up a chair and eat breakfast at their table (for sale) while gazing at pictures on the wall (and their price tags). It's a little odd and also, a little schizophrenic with the decor. The thing I like most about the Grapevine Cafe is that the place is a little bit like a maze. There are private cubbies and little nooks and crannies where tables are stashed here and there. The place could be half full but you still won't be subjected to overhearing another table's conversations. It's actually quite nice. Foodwise, it's a solid three stars. The menu is a little sparse but it's definitely two steps above the typical greasy spoon breakfast that is common in G-Town. I've had a mushroom/spinach/cheese omelet once which was very wonderful and the other time I tried the seafood eggs benedict, which had the benefit of having real blue crab meat as well as tiger shrimp that they had obviously cooked to order (unlike other places which reheat previously cooked shrimp so that it has the taste and texture of a fishy eraser). The hollandaise sauce was actually very delicious, which means that their chef is fantastic or it's a really REALLY good premade sauce. It didn't taste like a mix, per se, but I tend to doubt that anyone around here could whip up a sauce that was so perfect and smooth as well as extremely flavorful. That being said, the servers could use some customer service training. Each time I've gone, the servers seem disengaged and somewhat annoyed with having to schlep foodstuffs for customers. I also am a little perplexed by the coffee bar. It's there, in the middle of the restaurant, and yet, the place doesn't smell like coffee. Is it just for show? This was my first experiences at Grapevine and I will definitely be back. We arrived jus after they opened and it got busy very quickly. The atmosphere is is warm and cozy with a large dining area and little dining nooks as well. It is comfortable and inviting and I did see they also have outdoor seating. They have an ample breakfast menu so everyone can find something yet it's not so many items that it gets overwhelming. They serve Door County coffee, which was hot and fresh and my cup was never empty. I had the Farmer's omelet and it was wonderful, the vegetables were perfectly cooked and it was nice and hot, actually large enough for two. I don't know if they make their bread in house but the sour dough is amazing. My friend had the baked oatmeal and this was easily enough for two. Wonderful friendly staff and the very reasonably priced especially for the amount of food you get. I can't wait to go back and try some more of their delicious breakfast menu. 0 stars for host/manager Jim who was quite rude and told us when we arrived at 7:55a we had to be out by 8:50a because they had Mother's Day reservations that would arrive at 9a. A perfect opportunity to say "Good Morning. Let me see how we can fit you in." Not once did he help out the wait staff by filling coffees stopping at tables to check in. I know he had time to because I could see him standing at the coffee station chatting. Would you like a paying table or an empty table? No need to wonder why there is a help wanted sign on the front door when the staff doesn't get the support they need. 5 stars for our waitress Mary (?), who was lovely. I had such high hopes for the Grapevine Cafe. I arrived about 9:15am, was greeted by the friendly hostess, and seated immediately despite not having a reservation. After a brief wait, I ordered coffee from my kind server, and it arrived quickly; the quality was OK, but better than what I had at my motel. I ordered the seafood benedict, and it arrived promptly. Then the problems started. I cut into one of the egg yolks to release the liquid deliciousness over the crab and English muffin, and it was hard-cooked! I cut into the second egg yolk, and it was even harder. I tasted the hollandaise sauce, and it was very light on flavor, including the faint taste of lemon. The crab and shrimp (advertised as tiger shrimp, but I doubt it), were delicious. But without the runny yolk, the entire dish was blah; the hard yolks were disgusting. And when I tasted the crispy hash browns, they were tepid! Almost cold! Even though the plate was still warm! How does that happen? I nibbled a bit until I could call down my server, and explained the situation. She immediately offered to replace the dish, agreeing with my complaints, but the problem was that I had to be at a meeting, and didn't have the time for a second serving. This dish was removed from my bill, for which I am grateful. The server repeated her desire to provide me with a new dish, and I agreed I would like it, if I had the time. I didn't think to ask for it to go, which would have solved my problem (IF the food was prepared properly), but the bottom line is I left with only a few nibbles of food, and had to go to my meeting essentially without breakfast, which made me very unhappy. The only fault here is with the kitchen, which should be able to execute poached eggs and hash browns that are palatable. This is so basic and simple to accomplish correctly, I have to wonder what they do with with more complex dishes. I'm truly sad that Grapevine Cafe literally left me with such a bad taste in my mouth. When I return to Green Bay, I'll find another spot (even fast food ... yech!) that will provide me with a better breakfast. This would be a one-star if it weren't for the great service. read more

Stopped here for lunch during Restaurant Week and a great choice. This little restaurant was packed! The hostess suggested a table for me outside since I was by myself. That was a great suggestion. They have about six small tables along the side of the restaurant. A nice spot to eat if you're with one or two other people. They were offering a $10 lunch special where I ordered the crab cake, chicken salad wrap, and lemon and cheese shortcake. The crab cake was light and buttery with tomatoes sprinkled on the top with some greens. I wish I could of had ten of those and have that be my meal. The chicken salad wrap was good...pretty typical to other chicken salads but this wrap was huge! I ate half of it and was getting full. I wasn't sure I would be able to finish the rest. By the time my desert came out, I'm already slipping into a food coma. Thank goodness it was a small piece otherwise I couldn't have finished it. What a fantastic meal. I do want to go here again. When looking at the menu, their breakfast looks pretty baller. You can only get it until 10:45. Anybody want to schedule a breakfast date? read more

This place is absolutely delicious. We took a detour on our road trip to stop in for a bite to eat and it was worth it! The plate sizes are huge for a great price. I had the Strawberry Chicken Salad, and French Onion Soup and they were both great! My Dad had a huge cappuccino. He said it was the biggest he's ever had and for a great price. If you are on a long road trip or just passing through and are hungry or want to stretch your legs and shop a little this is definitely the place to stop! They have a cute little shop inside as well. This place was an interesting restaurant. My fiancé and I were seated in a tiny room. It was nice and private. The funny part was the decor all had price tags on them. When you're there, get the French onion soup. It was great. Everything else was pretty standard. Go through the store after dinner. You'll see some cute stuff for home and ladies' shoes/accessories. Went there in the summer for lunch. The restaurant is within a store, which makes it a bit unusual. Also, I seem to remember that that have odd hours. The staff and service was great. The grapevine is my new favorite when on green bay, wi. This restaurant is "title towns" home grown version of Cracker Barrel. The coffee is strong, black and hot and the servers rock! We live very close to Grapevine Cafe and have frequented this restaurant quite a bit for breakfast and brunch. My fiancé loves (or used to love) their homemade corned beef hash. When we stopped in today, he ordered the hash like he normally does. He was very disappointed to find that they now use the cheap canned greasy corned beef hash. We are unsure if this is their new standard or if they were out of their usual ingredients. A heads up from the wait staff on the change would have been appreciated. $12 for canned hash is a lot. Our waitress was very personable but seemed very scattered. To be honest we've always had spotty service here but the food has made up for it. We've recommended Grapevine to a lot of friends but are unsure if we will come back again. read more

This was an interesting breakfast place. When you first walk in it looked like a Kirkland's store and had a boutique attached to it. It didn't seem really like a restaurant. We walked in to get a table while we waited for family to get there. We did have a large group of 7 people and at first they threw two chairs on the end of a standard kitchen table that not even two small children could fit at. We came very early in the morning since our group was large. It seemed a bit off putting how little effort was put into accommodating us. When we spoke up the moved us to a much large table that comfortably sat all 7 adults and required no rearranging of any furniture. There was no one really in the place just yet so I couldn't understand why there had to be a pinch point like that. They then recognized my family members as quite the regulars and our level of service changed immensely. She was super nice, got our food in right away and it was pretty good! My boyfriend and I are from Chicago and are big breakfast spot people and this one did the trick, but nothing to rave about. It's a pretty small menu. So I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in San Francisco, Seattle, and San Diego but the dinner tonight was 95% perfect And better than most. I had the Salmon Florentino, with asparagus, rice and sourdough. Paired it with a Honey Ale from a local brewery, fantastic. Their soup was a Ham, broccoli, pepper jack cream, to die for. Brooke, with and "E" set me up right with her suggestion. The Salmon was perfectly cooked. The belly section was a flakey as the main fillet. Seared just right and flakey and moist throughout. The Spinach garnish was wilted perfectly and was fresh, not easy to find this time of year In Wisconsin . The asparagus was lightly seasoned and tender enough to cut with a fork. No toughness at all. The sourdough was better than I've gotten in San Fransisco. Service, atmosphere, beer and wine list very good. The only criticism that would push this dish over the top, herb garlic butter, not something in a plastic foil container and changing the regular basic rice to wild rice. Had that been done, this would have been a 10. As it was, I gave the entire experience a 9.5. Oh and the total dinner, with drinks, and tip, less than $35.00. If you are a retired older woman, this is the place for you. We were the youngest in the place(mid 40's for us) by far, which would have been no big deal BUT we were treated completely different than the rest of the tables around us! Our waitress seemed annoyed by my order and never came back to see if we needed anything or liked our food. My omelet was quite tasty, and the dry bread was even good. I don't understand at all why people put black olives, not kalamata olives, in a greek omelet, so I ordered my omelet without the black olives. There were a lot of artichokes, spinach and feta so it was quite good. My husband had the quiche and it was pretty good. Had a huge glob of melted cheese on the top which was odd, but after scraping it off all was good. They offer Door Co. Coffee, which is mediocre at best. I'll come back if my mom wants to go, but not again as my choice. After breakfast we were driving towards Ledgeview, and noticed The Creamery. It's fun to wander thru Homestead Decor, and then head next door to Lady Savannah. Then if you still have money in your wallet, Target is right across the street! Since we live near to here, we come here quite a bit. Mostly for breakfast. I'm a big fan of the scramblers. I do avoid the orange juice though, I don't know if they make it from concentrate or if I just don't like the brand they use(very possible, I'm picky about orange juice), but it always seems a bit sour. My fiancé always gets whatever flavored coffee they have that day and usually always enjoys it. When we come for dinner I generally get a burger and chips and I've never been disappointed. I would recommend trying them out. And if you stop in you should wander through the gift shop that is attached to the restaurant. The person on the phone however was impatient and seemed to blame me when the phone connection started fading in an out. Took it in stride and placed the order. At pickup I got the guy from the phone. He was irritated I did not know what he expected when he slid me the credit card device that I had never touched before. Used to be one of my FAVORITE places to go! Went a couple months ago, and food was not good. At all. I thought maybe it was a bad day, and tried it again. The magic that used to zing in the air is gone. The staff seems bored and listless, like it's a burden for them to eat on you. The food is still sub par from where it used to be. There was an issue with the food, so we asked our waitress (blond gal) and she shrugged her shoulders and walked away. It makes me so sad to know how amazing this place used to be, but has gone to barely a meh in the last year or so. Nothing special about this place anymore. Really liked this place. Was in town for a wedding and found this place on yelp so the boyfriend and I decided to give it a try. The place had really nice decor on the inside, it smelled lovely and there were (fake) flowers everywhere which just kind of set the tone for a really pleasant brunch. Love Grapevine Cafe! Whenever the boyfriend and I would get hungry for something healthy and tasty, we would come here. Weird location and looks a bit odd on the outside, but on the inside! Wow it is a totally different feel. Nice, homey and a few little nooks with tables for a more private dining experience. Great service and nice people. Their sandwiches are bomb, and their salads are pretty tasty. They serve grapes with their cold sandwiches/entrees, a bit odd, but fitting when you think of their name. And as indicated by a fellow yelpers review, there are price tags on some of the items in the store...but it is really neat considering you can buy whatever you want in the cafe!
