This (and the old brother in Sebastopol) is the BEST bagel place i have ever been. Theirs bagels are huge, rich in fresh ingredients and a large variety of choices. My favorite one is the LoxyLady! OMG! Packed with cream cheese and salmon! If you want a bagel THERE IS NO OTHER CHOICE! The place is small no seats (maybe just a small little table) but who cares? It's a bagel. The anticipated Grateful Bagel opened today. Their grand opening consisted of free bagels, $2.00 drinks, and coupons for a future visit. I was greeted and served promptly - asked a few questions about my bagel (spread, toasted, etc.). The prices are quite low for what you're getting. This place used to be a former hot dog restaurant. Their menu has many different items, breakfast, lunch, and many different coffees and teas. They have a loyalty card - buy 5 bagels, get one free, and buy 10 drinks, get one free. The three employees working today were very friendly, smiling, Helpful, and gave good recommendations. They were fast and have my bagels and coffee ready quickly. This is my favorite bagel spot in Santa Rosa! Their selection is always amazing, their prices are fair and their coffee is great! Any of their bagel sandwiches are delicious and they make them right in front of you using very fresh ingredients. The selection of gourmet bagels is always changing and they don't try to up charge you for every little thing. Their staff is also very friendly and seem to enjoy their job. My favorite? Delicious bagels and Whole Wheat Everything! I get the Loxy Lady (obvs) and the self serve coffee. I love this place! I often call my order in on my way to work as it can take a while if they're busy. They also have delicious pastries and good deals on day-olds. Staff is laid back yet attentive. I go to grateful bagel specifically to get good food and receive great service. They never fail me. By far the friendliest restaurant on 4Th st. With ideal prices as well. People that shop on 4th st. Have a tendency to believe they're entitled to be treated like they're royalty, which isn't the case at all. Not one of them has probably worked the food industry and probably never will. Wow do I miss the old school Grateful Bagel on Mendocino from back in the late eighties. We used to walk down on Saturday mornings and mom and dad would get coffee from the Deadhead hippie kids who lined the walls with stickers and concert flyers. Flash forward and the bagels are still great, the produce is fresh, and the service is friendly. But why such a drab environment? Hardly anything on the walls, the place looks sterile and uninviting. The Sebastopol location has way more vibe... Please bring back the culture Santa Rosa! read more

Trying to give some love to downtown businesses during CV-19, I decided to get an eggel bagel from Grateful Bagel for breakfast this morning. I ordered a bacon eggel ($5.85 for just egg, bacon and cheese) and asked for some tomato and onion... I usually get the New York New York eggel at Sonoma Valley Bagel, which comes with everything I asked for plus green peppers for $5.75. Imagine my shock when my eggel was $7.75-- They charged $1.90 for one slice of onion and one slice of tomato. They did not tell me there would be an additional charge when I placed the order by phone. When I mentioned that SVB has a menu item that includes all the fixin's for no extra charge, they told me I'm free to go wherever I want... Shame, their bagels are bagelly but can't justify the price or the rudeness. Obv I won't be going back. read more

DON'T EVER GO HERE! I ordered a garlic bagel(because they only had plain or garlic left at 1pm) open faced with veggies...I started with the bottom half & when I got to the top half it was way too garlicky, bitter & inedible. My boyfriend got the same thing & he couldn't eat his either. I went to see if I could get a different bagel. The girl working there said she didn't think so & she could get in trouble if she gave me a new one....so she called her manager who confirmed this. It is just so surprising that a company wouldn't want to spend $5 to keep a customer. I will NEVER go back. Grateful Bagel is back in Santa Rosa! The pizza bagel will always hold a special place in my heart, but their seems to be something missing from the heart of the pizza bagel itself... This place is really small, they only have about three tables. They don't overcharge for their food and drinks, but they CONTINUALLY run out of certain flavor bagels and when that happens, they are apparently out ALL DAY. Even if they run out of say, a cinnamon raisin bagel at 10am, that's it. You are out of luck. I can't tell you how many times I've gone in for a bagel and just walked out because they were again out of the bagel I wanted. It's dissapointing, so I can't give them five stars. read more

Walked in 8/03/2015 and ordered a plain bagel, although I did not ask for anything more their clerk volunteered to toast it. Menu board clearly says individual bagels are priced at $0.95 each but try explaining that to their clerk who insisted I be charged $2.45 for it. I recommend avoiding this place. Came in before work to pickup a bagel and coffee. There were 2 young ladies working and I received no greeting, was basically ignored for the first 3 minutes I was there. I got snotty responses to my questions and slow service. I was the only customer there and it took 15 minutes to get out. I love supporting small businesses but will definitely go to Starbucks instead of this place because they at least pretend to give a damn about customer service. read more

The downtown Santa Rosa store was alright, the girl working was kinda disorganized asked our order like 4 times, would love more seating, especially outside. The Sebastopol location seems more popular and better customer service! Great morning stop! And the food seems to taste more fresh in the Sebastopol location. Terrible service!! Don't waste your time. My family ordered 4 bagels and a milk shake at 1:20pm. Yes they closed at 1:30, but it's a bagel shop and it only take like 10 mins tops to eat a bagel. My 3 year old and 1 year old sat down to eat their bagels and my husband and I were still waiting on ours when the 2 RUDE girls behind the counter kept saying how they are closing and literally turning off lights and stacking tables 5 mins before closing. After the 20th inappropriate comment, I asked about the milkshake which they forgot and rolled their eyes saying how they are closing. That's when I gave them back the bagels and demanded my money back. read more
