Nice spot on the island. We brought our dog with us for troll hunting. We spotted this place. Dog friendly in the back of the story. Inside it's a bar rustic look with cute bathroom. We were late for lunch, but luckily I was got the last smoke brisket Reuben or I wouldn't know how awesome and write this review. It is so fulfilling. Good portion. We also had the salt and pepper shrimp burger. No bad and lots of shrimps also. I would suggest provide some sides like fries or coleslaw, then I will say they are perfect.

This place is open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I like the casual ambience with high quality food. The food is delicious, and the people and service even better. I had a hard time making a decision of what sandwich to get. The cashier told me some customer claimed the Ruben Sandwich (one of my top 3 fav sandwiches) is the best they've ever tried. But I walked in craving fried chicken, so I went with Fried Chicken Sandwich, $17 and comes with a bag of fresh chips. The fried chicken was big, crispy and juicy. It was so good (also piping hot) I burnt my mouth but kept eating Xp. I also love the options for appetizers and side dishes on display. The Chef was nice enough to give me a slice of Banana Fudge Cake to try. I had it with ice cream when I get home, it's very banana-y, but in a good (not artificial) way. I can't wait to come back and try the Ruben!

On a very hot day my wife and I visited Gravy aka Salt & Schmaltz. Eating there had been one of our main objectives in visiting Vashon. We opted to sit in the back patio where a slight breeze made it more comfortable than eating inside. It wasn't busy (although we noticed that that had changed a bit when we were leaving) and we had our just about all the tables. The staff and the owners were very welcoming. I ordered the Smoked Brisket Reuben sandwich and my wife ordered the Smoked Turkey sandwich. They both came with housemade potato chips. Both orders were delivered to our table pretty quickly. They were both very hot and I actually had to bite on my sandwich carefully so as not to burn my mouth or my hands while holding it. Both were big sandwiches so you really got your money's worth. . There was more house smoked brisket on my sandwich than I've gotten anywhere else. The tops of gruyere, kraut and Russian dressing were great as was the bread. I shouldn't have eaten the entire thing but I did. My only quibble was that I would've like to have tasted more smoky flavors, but I've rarely had smoked food in restaurants that safisty me like the smoked meats I turn out on my own electric smoker. My wife greatly enjoyed her house smoked turkey sandwich which came with bacon, greens, roasted tomatoes, and Havarti. With that one she had her choice of either cold turkey or hot pressed. She wished she'd chosen cold because she missed the texture and fresh flavor of the turkey as a contrast to the hot sandwich. She took half her sandwich with her. The owners seemed to be good people presenting great food. We'd go back to try some other menu items if we decide return to Vashon.

Food are good but a bit pricey. We ordered a salt and shrimp burger with garlic aioli and Smoked brisket Ruben . Sandwiches sizes are descent but with no sides. Place is clean and with backyard seating area for you to dine in with your pet. Service is prompt and good.

Wow! What an absolutely amazing find. A locality run deli/restaurant/store/ sandwiches amazing place ever!! While meandering around Vashon, we walked into this place and were immediately greeted with an outstanding smell. The service was excellent and all the food in the deli case is house made. The gentleman whose name I forget, answered all our questions about Vashon Island, shopping, living, etc. After walking around and drinking some beers across the street we decided to come back and support a local business. My friend was disappointed that all the lemon pie was gone. Tip: if you see it? Buy it!! It could be gone when you get back!! The sandwiches, so many choices. We got the high powered rueben, with homemade brisket. Like wth? Off the chain delicious!! Sandwiches come hot or cold. We chose hot. They gave us a few forks and picnic utensils to eat our sandwich later. The sandwich was outstanding!! Homemade brisket with sauerkraut and homemade thousand island. All on grilled sourdough and so good!! My only minor issue was, and it is minor, was the meat. I wish it would have been cubed for easier chewing. No biggie!! Still and amazingly tender and delicious!! Please support this business if you come here. Happy Yelping.

While waiting for our smoked brisket rueben we enjoyed watermelon salad and potato salad. Both were very good. The cherry tomatoes and pickled jicama paired wonderfully with the watermelon. I didn't taste much smoke in the brisket (which made my wife happy) and there was a little too much fat for my taste (perfect for hers). The bread was perfect, but I would have liked a stronger taste of dressing. I'll end on a positive- they did not skimp on the brisket. See the attached photo! So... 5 stars from my wife, 4 stars from me.

Stopped by for a quick bite. Lu had the tuna melt and I had the brisket Reuben. Yum! We ate out doors in the back patio. Food was great! We definitely would recommend Gravy when visiting Vashion Is.

In Vashon for the day... or the weekend? You NEED to ride the Gravy train! While many things on the menu look appealing, the Brisket Reuben ($18) and the fried chicken ($15) were calling my name and they did not disappoint. I love reubens and to try their take on it with brisket left you wanting more. The brisket was soft and cooked well combined with their rye and sauerkraut brought joy to my belly. The fried chicken (gluten-free) order gets you half a chicken. This isn't your typical fried chicken. The flavor packed in every bite ensures there won't be any leftovers. Pro-tip: ask for a side of the Russian dressing that comes with the Reuben as a dip for the fried chicken. They were also grilling lamb burgers on the sidewalk with whipped feta which smelled AMAZING but we just weren't in the lamb mood today. They had a couple tables setup outside and two inside (4/17/21) so you could eat there but we decided to take our food a mile away to Dragonhead Cider!

Lemony sweet, with refreshing topped raspberries to bring you back to your senses. Sticky toffee pudding was a contrast to the fresh panna cotta. It was so scrumptious and rich. It's like the British pudding, essentially like a cake/muffin with a delicious sauce. The main meal was mushroom risotto with asparagus. I'm not a big risotto person but there were only 2 vegetarian options on the menu for the entrees so I needed to pick something! It was nice and buttery, but could have used more asparagus in my opinion for variety of textures. The other option for vegetarian entrée was a polenta! It was decent but this place could definitely do better vegetarian entrees! I have full faith on that. Appetizers are delightful - we had the crispy cauliflower with a chutney that was surely inspired by some tangy Indian tastes. The other dish for appetizers was patatas bravas - delightful. The menu is not overwhelming, it's seasonable and there will be something you can enjoy. Parking and seating is super limited so make sure you arrive on a slow day, arrive early, or are prepared to wait. Tip is also included. Good for special occasions. Bring your love, your best friend, and/or your grandma. Clean and cozy. Has outdoor seating too in the front and back.

Everyone we interacted with was genuinely kind and welcoming, especially Jennifer. * Casual and quaint retro diner vibe. Nothing fancy, but it's clean and comfortable. * Fries were really good, crispy and lightly battered. * Hand dipped corn dogs were tasty. * "Fun size" meals are a great option and come with a tiny ice cream cone, which is a nice touch. * Self serve drinks and condiments (I personally like being able to get things myself, and everything was clean and stocked.) * Two private restrooms (no stalls/single occupancy) + indoor and outdoor seating options What fell short: * The biggest downside is the price. I understand there's an "island premium," but the value just didn't match the steep cost. * Burger was okay, but the patty felt small for the price. * Onion rings were not good. They had thick, undercooked onion and chewy breading. * The chicken bites were extremely dry. They were edible, but I'd honestly take just about any other fast food nugget over these. That's especially disappointing because they looked like they started with decent quality white meat. My kid took one bite and pushed the rest away, which is a first for anything breaded and fried.
