Easily some of the best Italian in all of DC. Grazie Nonna easily has one of the cutest outdoor patios for an Italian restaurant in DC, and the inside is just as appealing and swanky. I also got the banana pepper martini, which was delicious and such a fun twist on the classic drink. The service is always lovely, and the meal is somehow even better. From the table plating, decor, warm ambience, and the comfort style food that tasted like it was "made with love", I felt like I was literally welcomed and eating at Italian grandma's house for Sunday dinner. We dined here as a party of 4 for a double date night. We started off with their cocktails and the elderflower spritz was the perfect ratio of sweet, fizzy, and refreshing. For antipasti, we had the tuna crudo, calamari, and clams casino which were all appetizing, along with the la luna salad which was crisp and fresh (I honestly ate more of the salad than anything else!). We devoured the the Drunken Love pizza as Sunday Sauce and Vodka Sauce (add the shrimp, trust me!) pastas. All of the "macaroni" was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce was hearty and screamed homemade. There was no entree left untouched and we were fans of everything! There's both indoor and outdoor seating, but we opted for indoor seating. It felt a bit crowded and crammed where we were sitting but we made it work. Reservations can be made in advance via Resy. PIZZA TAKEOUT EXPERIENCE: This place has delicious pizza. The two times I've visited the pizza was consistent and delicious. The crust-to-center-pie thickness ratio is perfect. The tomato sauce is just right being that it is not overly tangy and does not lack flavor. The toppings are high quality. The pies are cut into six slices. The center of the pie is very thin, so 6 slices might be enough for two hungry adults at most. The pizzas are delicious and it's easy to eat multiple slices once you get going. The customer service is good. There is indoor and outdoor seating as well as indoor and outdoor bars. Inside the restaurant is very trendy and modern. The restaurant is located well off of the street in a promenade, so if driving or walking you just have to trust the street address and know that the restaurant is not going to be situated directly off of the sidewalk. There is street parking available albeit inadequate for the customer and business traffic on this block. The best option is to park in a nearby garage. Overall a very good experience and I will visit again. Give them a try. read more

LOTS to cover with Grazie Nonna as this has been a long awaited dinner trip with friends. The inside is pretty small so our reservation of 6:30pm felt like a good time since it was really busy, but not crammed. Got a lot more packed as the night went on. My friends and I adored their cutie little cutlery. It's also always a plus when restaurants have individual bathrooms, so go them. For service, our waiter did not rush us and the food came out at a steady pace. HOWEVER, the other wait staff personnel came by what felt like every 2 minutes to ask if we were done with our plates and drinks, when it was clear there was still food and beverages left. It was honestly really overwhelming and kind of put a damper on the experience having to repeatedly feel like someone was going to snatch my food away from me. For drinks, we got a whole bunch. I didn't get a picture of the cucumber mint speziato, but it was so light and refreshing-- probably one of my favorites of the night. The nonna martini definitely had a kick from the pepper brine, but I like some spice so it was pleasant. I LOVE a dirty martini, but this one was not it. It tasted extremely watered down and no olive taste. 0/10. The elderflower spritz was heavy on the floral notes, but it was good if that's your vibe. The limoncello sour was creamy and bright-- tasted like drinking a little lemon cloud. For food, I was very impressed. We were starving when we arrived, as a party of 4, and everything we got filled us all up. The la luna salad was a great starter-- the dressing was bright and the cheese tasted so fresh and creamy. I also loved the addition of the red onions and tomatoes. The drunken love pizza was INCREDIBLE-- the vodka sauce had the perfect savory to sweet balance, not too much cheese (which is my preference) and the crust was crunchy and airy. One of the best pizzas I've had in a long time (ask for red pepper flakes and parm on the side). The vodka sauce pasta was just as good with that delicious sauce. I enjoyed the texture of the pasta and it was cooked to perfection. PRO TIP: keep the extra sauce to dip your pizza crust in. The vongole pasta was also really good, and this is one of my favorite types of pasta to order. I love a bucatini to really soak up that lemon, garlic, butter sauce. I do wish there was more clams because it came with shells, but no clams in the shell? A little peculiar. It was also two of my friends' birthday celebrations, so they brought out a free tiramisu, which was really nice. It could have used more coffee flavor and less cream, but I can't complain about a free sweet treat post dinner. Overall, amazing food experience.. just wish we were able to enjoy everything without being constantly ambushed. My friends were visiting DC for the first time and I randomly chose this place after seeing it on TikTok. Our server, Crystal, made great suggestions and also had great conversation. We also had a pizza that I would give 4/5! We had the Chianti Classico from the menu and honestly that was just ok. The price versus quality on the wine was not amazing. The atmosphere of the restaurant was awesome! Important note: The restaurant put an unannounced surcharge on our bill that seemed like it was for the workers. So we tipped out accordingly. When we asked for an explanation from our server, she indicated that it just went to the restaurant owners. Honestly this is not ethical in my opinion. Customers come in thinking that part of their tip is already added to the bill so they give less to their server thinking they have already reached a 20 percent tip. The reality is that this money just went to the owners. I am a firm believer in transparency with pricing and in this case I feel that it was violated. We had a great experience with the food, and this place is worth visiting, but I would say it's fair to ask them to take any surcharges off your bill. read more

Grazie Nonna was such a nice lunch with the hubby. I was drawn to this restaurant when I saw the pictures of the Vodka Sauce pasta. For starters, we shared the Tuscan White Bean Soup. It was so flavorful and light. I ordered the Mafalde Vodka Sauce pasta and Hubs ordered the Prosciutto Cotto sandwich. All the dishes were amazing. My pasta was flavorful whilst the sandwich was fluffy, crunchy, and extremely creamy with the burrata. Oh, and the bread is made in-house! Squeals. I felt like I was back in Italy. Although the vibes of the restaurant gave off a fancy feel, the customer service was extremely casual. They didn't check up on us as often and we ended up changing waiters as our original one stopped checking up on us. The food also came out very quickly. We hardly tried the soup and the pasta and sandwich came out quickly. It was a bummer because I wanted fresh/hot dishes but felt a tad bit rushed. With that said, the service complaint was minor as the food made up for it. I wish we had similar dishes back home. I already miss that sandwich! read more

Finally managed to come here after years of eyeing it. No reservations and a two hour wait, we gambled and won by finding a tight spot at the bar. Service at the bar was quick and friendly. We started with some cocktails, like aperol spritz, old fashion, and the nice green one. We later got an espresso martini with tequila- the only pass of the night. It wasn't bad but just have had so much better. The pizza was the star of show- the drunken love pizza was fantastic, my fiancé was in love (again). The Sunday sauce pasta was good but could have used a little bit more cheese to offset the acidity of the sauce. The Caesar salad was good as well. Overall a nice time! I was torn between giving this place a 1 or 2 stars. Here's why I gave it two. Ambiance: for a $100 dinner per person, I am expecting way more in ambiance. We wanted to be seated inside, and even made reservations in advance and were told there would be inside seating so we chose this place over another in DuPont. When we came we were sat at a high top on the patio. The weather was dreary it just finished raining and was in the 40s. I was not expecting to eat outside at a hightop that had hardly enough room for all our food. In fact they didn't. We had to combine plates for our appetizers. The seats were uncomfortable and the table was not level. Also, for a nighttime reservation where you seating people outside and the temperature is in the 40s you would expect them to have heat lamps. However, the inside looked like it was pretty. So solid two stars for what the inside appeared to look like. Food: Honestly, it tasted like bad fast casual. The calamari was too salty and greasy, and tasted stale. The Burata, while tasty was served with soup drenched croutons, which just seemed cheap. The Cesar salad entrees were the size of a side salad, and were not as pictured. For a restaurant that is supposed to be more upscale, it was very disappointing. The pizza tasted like plastic and smelled strange too. It was like the pizza you would get in the school cafeteria in the 90s but with a 200% mark up. Also, all the dishes that we wanted to order that we saw on Yelp were no longer on the menu. Actually their menu for being multiple pages was severely lacking. The had no soup options for their dinner menu which was really odd and their meat dish options were lacking too. Non-alcoholic Beverages: Their options were very limited. They served zero hot beverages, no coffee, no tea, no hot toddy's. Cocktails: Ok their frozen cocktails were good, maybe not worth the price though. Wine: Atrocious selection, and for $16-$20 per glass for a less than $20 bottle not ok. They label themselves as an Italian restaurant but their selection was below par wine, maybe a rating of 79 below? And their mark up was insane. Italy is known for their vineyards and selections of great reds, whites, and Prosecco's, it was just not it there. My friend I went with was awesome, so I had a great time nonetheless, my other friend said she went the next day and her experience was better but that her experience the first time was also a one star 2 star at best. The place is hit or miss I guess. Would only be willing to try again on a HEAVY DISCOUNT. read more

We then split the Drunken Love pizza and Spicy Vodka pasta. The pizza was tasty, but could have used a little more sauce. When we arrived, they initially tried to seat us at a shared table with another couple, which wasn't really the vibe we were going for on a date night. We asked to be moved, but it wasn't the best first impression. The music was also surprisingly loud and felt more like a sports bar playlist than what you'd expect for a Valentine's dinner, which made it harder to enjoy the atmosphere. The restaurant is gorgeous and decorated with ornate chandeliers, family photos, and candles at each table. My friend and I got dinner on a cloudy, cold Tuesday evening in need of some tasty drinks to pair with our pasta. I started off with an Aperol Spritz - a strong flavor of Aperol, more than I have had in the past. Regardless, the wine was smooth and the slightly bitter flavor accompanied by the ice was refreshing. For my entree, I went with the Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp. I really loved this dish! The food is wonderful; real high-end Italian. The pizza is enough for 2-3 people, special requests are accommodated, the entrees are very special. I had a spicy 'macaroni' (pasta) dish that was quite flavorful. There only seemed to be one or two vegetarian items in each section of the menu, but I was happy with my options. I highly recommend reservations. Two of our party of three arrived early, but we were immediately seated. Our third was late, but we didn't get any attitude about it (we definitely racked up a higher bar tab waiting for our friend). The decor is cozy, a bit dim, and quite noisy. I had to use my phone light to read the menu. If they could turn up the lights and turn down the stereo a bit, it would be perfect! Not cheap - we spent around $80 apiece.
