Received a $25 off an oil change coupon in the mail. Due to recent carpal tunnel surgery, I decided to let them do the oil change in our Tundra. It takes 7&1/2 quarts of synthetic oil. I was directed into the service bay as soon as I drove in. It was 3 pm and not anyone ahead of me so service was immediate. I also asked them to check the bolts on the skid plate to ensure none of them were missing which they did. They went over prices for some other services I had asked about. Their prices were in line with other places I have been. They were very friendly and knowledgeable about what was needed at the various mileages on my truck. I know they work very hard and it's very warm especially the guy in the pit and the manager was very patient and wanted to make sure that we fully understood what we were paying for and what they were going to do spending over $200 for an oil change and a tire rotation. Fast and easy service. I took my husband's car to have the break fluid flush. The tech met me right outside the office and took the car immediately. It took about 15-20 minutes and the car was done. The waiting area is clean, it has a fridge with cold water bottles, coffee and tea, and some snacks available too. Immediately, the young tiny gentleman had a look of disgust on his face as he approached my vehicle. He started off by saying, just to warn you, we may not have all the parts for service today. I told him I just need an oil change. He "checked" his electronic clipboard and sure enough, no oil filter for my type of vehicle. He said it is company policy that they have to replace the filter with every oil change? Why even have the business open on a holiday if no one is willing to provide service? My husband stopped by for a basic state inspection and the most simple oil change for a car we barely ever drive. We drive an EV now & don't miss oil changes but the registration was quite overdue and required inspection. He had a good experience at the business that was here prior and didn't know it had changed to a Grease Monkey. Not only was the wait over two hours but when he asked for an oil change, the employee showed him a price list to select one and all the prices were illegible. He asked for the very most basic oil change, again because we so rarely drive that car. Imagine how shocked I was when I was working on our budget today and saw the entry for an oil change that cost $106.70!!! This car obviously did not require synthetic oil and you will see on the receipt it lists "FULL SERVICE SUPER SYNTHETIC" (Ahem, more expensive oil) as the selection. That sounds like the most opposite of what he asked for, "The most basic one you offer." Hmm, I would call that a scam. Not only that, but after the crazy long wait, when they finally told him the car was ready and he was about to drive off, they flagged him down because they'd realized they hadn't actually completed the inspection yet. WOW. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!. Went to Grease Monkey for the first time to get an oil change. When you arrive the guy comes out with his pad and tells you your vehicle takes eight quarts and your price options for an oil change are $99.99, $119.99 or $139.99. I said $119.99 to the guy and he said to wait in the lobby. I go in the lobby and ask to pay for the oil change and was told you have to wait until completed before you can pay. I waited, they finished and I went to the counter to pay. OMG the bill was 185.00 for an oil change. After pleading with the manager he takes my keys from the counter and states that's the price because it took eight quarts. After arguing with the manager he states that's the price pay it. After being turned away twice due to the inspector not being onsite--despite confirming by phone--my frustration got the better of me. Came back the next day and they completely denied any wrong doing but "gladly" added more oil as my truck was now low. after taking my truck across the street to Walmarts Service Center the staff informed me that the threading was stripped. I went to get an oil change amongst at a few other things at this location this morning. There were only three cars in line ahead of me so I figured I wouldn't be there long. I knew I needed my air filter replaced plus a few other things and I knew it was time to service my rear differential fluid as well as my coolant flush. When Mr. Bill came to run down the list of suggested items it might be time for, it lined up exactly with what I had in mind and I was only $50 off the price I had in my head from what the total ended up being. Richard Tovar was my service tech, and he is awesome.!! I have 376,922 miles on my 4-Runner, and these guys at Grease Monkey are going to help me get to 500,000.
