I had an appointment to get my MK8 GTI aligned and had a wheel hub installed after a dealer diagnosis of a stripped hub, but SoulSpeed found they could just repair the hub instead of a replacement. There's a very short list of people I trust with my car. Collin's on it. Always honest. Has worked on everything from track cars to daily drivers for years. Never tries to talk me into extra stuff I don't need. Has actually talked me out of stuff when I don't really have a problem. (It's my car. I'm a little paranoid about it.) What more could you ask for? If your car sees track time at all, he's a great guy to ask about parts and set-up. I've been to SoulSpeed on and off for about 7-8 years now (when they were in north Austin off of Longhorn.) I actually found about the shop by buying an old A4 off of Colin (lead mechanic at the time and now owner.) These guys do great work without trying to suggest that you need X,Y and Z in addition to what you came to get done. Straight shooters shall we say. I don't personally track my cars, but I do enjoy a good suspension setup, aggressive alignment, etc and these are the experts in the Austin area for such things. I've been coming to Soul Speed since about 2011, and as a car forum moderator, I've known about them and their positive reputation for at least four years prior to that. There are plenty of shops to get a car's suspension set up, but few that will take the time to do it right, do it properly, and at a very good price. But don't let the reasonable price make you think they aren't among the best, if not the best in town for building or properly setting up a high performance street or track car. They have done alignments on my '08 STi, wheels, a Bilstein HD and Rear Sway Bar on my 2008 BMW X3, and subframe bushings, M3 guide rods/wishbones/control arms, and an Ohlins coil over setup on my 2009 BMW 135i. Collin is a true auto/track enthusiast. The Ohlins install was done in a day with M3 control arms/wishbones - Even though it was more difficult than anticipated, Collin stuck to his price. I even asked him if he'd mind taking my A-Pillars off and inserting some felt while there where it was rattling (since I didn't have the proper Torx bit) -- he did so, noting that he could tell where the rattle was. Collin didn't even put that on my invoice, though I chipped in a little extra regardless. I asked if I should have him corner-balance the car with its coil overs, and he told me that if I wasn't tracking it monthly, to just save my money. He could've easily said, "Sure, let's do this!" and gotten paid, but being truthful to his customers is an evident priority. Soul Speed won't nickel and dime you. To the contrary, Collin could do just as well charging more for his labor. I've bought tires from Tire Rack and had them delivered to Soul Speed, and now that they're back, I'll have any new tires sent to them from now on. Knowledgable, competent, experienced, and above all, honest and trustworthy. Collin and Janine will continue to receive business from me and those I know because they do it the old-fashioned way: they earn it. read more

I took my Infiniti G37 their for them to install coil overs and all adjustable suspension plus doing the alignment. As soon as I left the steering wheel was crooked l. A couple of months went by because I didn't have enough time to take the car back to them. In those few months whenever I went over the slightest bump in the road. I would feel and hear the sound from the front suspension that something was popping. When I scheduled my car back in to them they said the upper control arm bolts were loose and that's what was making the popping sound. So they fixed that and attempted to straighten the steering wheel. They said they test drove it to make sure the steering was straight. As soon as I left the steering wheel was cocked the opposite direction and I'm like wtf! When I dropped the car off the steering was to the left and now it's to the right. That just let me know that they favor the higher end exotics. Even though I paid alot of money in the beginning thinking they were the best in the industry. Life lesson don't always go to a place that reps there the best and have good reviews. read more

Collin and his staff did a great job lowering my 2015 Mustang, and installing various suspension parts. I am capable of doing these installs myself, but I really wanted some experienced hands working on it. They gave me different options for configuring the caster camber plates, and asked me specifically what I wanted. They also showed an analysis report to back up what they did. Up to this point, I have done all my modifications myself and was really uneasy about handing my new car to a shop for work, but I never felt like I couldn't trust them. Had them install urethane bushings in the rear control arms/knuckle on my 06 Civic Si along with a rear sway bar and a alignment. They did a lot of work having to disassemble the rear knuckle to press out the bushing along with the trailing arms. After that a great alignment to my preferences gave me a great handling car. I don't normally like to leave my car with anyone but these guys are drivers, they know cars and are professional. They did a great job and will use them in the future, I highly recommend them to all my car friends. read more
