My daughter went in for an oil change, Grease Monkey charged her for an extra quart. The next day she was complaining her car was blowing white smoke when starting. Googled the issue and top hit was oil overfilled. Checked the oil level and it was 1/3 of the way up the stick or about 5 inches . I took it back and they drained the extra out saying some cars take more even for the same engine which was puzzling. Took home checked the level and it was still 1/5 up the stick or 2 inches. Took it back again and they redid the oil change showing me the level before I left. No more smoking. Fast forward two weeks, my son in law took his Audi A3 for an oil change to the same Grease Monkey in Clinton. I told him to tell them if his car needs more than 5 quarts which is the base price to say we'll add the rest at home. The base price for full synthetic was $89. When they finished and he went to pay they asked for $135. They said they used upgraded oil, filter, and whatever else. Nothing was told to him prior for the upsell. They just did the work. This Grease Monkey has been our go to up to this point. My daughter played soccer with the owner's granddaughter so I'm adding this review in hopes they see this and can make some policy or personnel changes. I had a issue with my back tail/brake lights. I first went to O'Reilly & bought the bulbs but it still didn't fix the issue. I drove over to Grease Monkey that was right next door & Pedro & Brenden got me right in fixed my lights & didn't charge me. It's nice to see such great customer service is still around. Drive in service. Mechanics seem reasonable. Constantly try's to up-sale. Asked me if I'd like a tire rotation (on brand new tires), an engine flush (before even looking at my car), and their prices are outrageous. I seriously recommend only coming to shops like this if you absolutely have to or if you don't have the time or willingness to do it yourself. read more

Grant Customer Service!!! Came in today (08/26/22) the guy came right out once he seen my Subie, and asked how I was doing, and I told him I just needed the registration sticker he told me to come in and he went to work on getting all that done for me. The lobby was clean and they had refreshments free of charge for you while you wait. I really enjoyed coming here and will definitely be back. Incredible customer service!!!!! We never spend more than 30 minutes here! They are never pushy about replacing filters or buying their stuff. Very friendly staff, they come running out to greet you when you pull up. They try to be as quick as they can even when busy. Free popcorn, sodas and coffee while you wait. They do try to up-sell you on things (air filters, belts, etc.) but so does every other oil change shop which is just an unfortunate reality of those businesses today, and my only reason for not giving 5 stars. read more

Went in for a full service oil change, knowing that one of my tires was low and that they would take care of that too. However, when it was time to pay I asked if they had taken care of the tire pressure, and the gentleman said no. The manager then came in and said they were all at 35 psi, so they didn't put air in. I knew that wasn't true because my indicator was showing 33 on the left front for the past 2 weeks. So I had one of the guys come out to the car where I showed him the low pressure. The manager then got extremely rude with me and said he didn't appreciate how I was acting. To be fair, I was not happy, but I was professional and simply wanted them to do their job and be honest about it. They eventually corrected the mistake, but after my interaction with the rude manager, I won't be back. read more

I went in a few oil changes ago and after my car started to have a burning smell. They had not screwed the oil cap on properly, covering my engine with oil. They fixed it, but what damage was already done to my car. I went in a few weeks ago for a full service oil change. My washer fluid was low. They said they filled and topped off all my fluids. I've been going here for years with great service BUT not yesterday!! I stopped in to get my car served in the early afternoon. There was only 1 car being serviced. There were 2 open bays. I could see workers talking but no one came to help me. A few minutes passed then another car pulled around me into an open bay. After being ignored for several more minutes I started to leave. On May 11, 2020, I brought my 2009 Mini Cooper (87k miles) in for an oil change (synthetic oil). I was drawn to Grease Monkey Clinton, Utah because of their customer service reviews, as the reviews seemed great. I paid $83.11 and had the synthetic oil service. The staff was friendly, and the service was everything as what I read in previous reviews. A couple of days later, I noticed an oil leak on the under front center right of the car. My car did not have an oil leak when I took it into them, and at first I thought that maybe it was residue or spillage, and that the issue would go away. Well, it didn't do away, and so I thought that if I went back to Grease Monkey Clinton, Utah, the service personnel would promptly take care of the problem. Before I did, I drove my car onto some ramps and looked underneath to try and find the problem myself to give them an idea of what I could find, and I found where the leak was, at the filter. On the morning of June 4, 2020, I went back to Grease Monkey Clinton, and was first in line that morning to try and deal with the issue. At opening, a service tech came out to my car, and asked how they could help me, I politely described the issue I was dealing with, The service tech left me and walked over to his manager, and after a minute or so, advised I should pull my vehicle in and that they would look at it. They had me remain in my car, (previous visit, I sat in their lobby), while they took a look at it. In less than three minutes, the manager came back and said "your filter looks dry." I explained to him that It's impossible, as I was able to see previously that the underside of the filter where it was screwed in showed a leak, as if it wasn't secured completely. He said that I had a leak in the master seal area behind the back of the engine. I asked him how that was possible, as a car that had no previous leak, now coincidentally has an issue after I took it to your shop? He says "I don't know, but it sure seems to be coincidental" My opinion is that they were so interested in taking my money the first time, doing a "rush job", so that they can keep moving cars through, and that they couldn't wait to get rid of me. All I wanted was the issue fixed, and I was willing to pay for it, but the tech manager wanted me gone. So he topped me off with regular oil, (even after I told him I paid for synthetic), and sent me on my way. I immediately went to another shop nearby, and I asked for an oil change, and asked the service technician to examine my rear seal, and to confirm my earlier findings. I shared my story with th other shop, and he confirmed he had heard of similar instances. He confirmed the master seal and transmission were fine, and that the leak was at the filter connection point on the engine. I have driven my car 300 miles since this date, (today is Sunday 6/7/2020, and surprise no leak. The Grease Monkey reviews may be partially true, but not worthy of more than 3 stars. I will not be going to Grease Monkey Clinton again, and I would suggest to those reading this post to read into their previous reviews and decide for yourself. read more

I took my van to Grease Monkey on Friday, September 4th for a basic oil change. I had a coupon from Val-Pak for $24.99. When my van was done, the total was over $36. Apparently, my van requires a "special" oil filter that costs $7 extra, plus they charged me for an extra quart of oil. None of this was disclosed prior to the work being completed. It is unethical to charge people for work without disclosing ahead of time that it will cost more that what you told them it would cost. There are a million other places to take my car for an oil change. Evidently this company is more interested in screwing customers rather than honestly communicating with them. I'm not a fan of Jiffy Lube, but they at least tell you before they charge you for work. I will not do business again with this company, and I will be sure to tell all my family, friends, and neighbors about this experience. Very disappointed. Kudos to you all at Grease Monkey! My oil change took 15 min tops like they told me when I pulled in. I was pressed on time because of work. They reviewed what services I would be needing by the mileage of my car and also went over everything they were going to service.
