I was in Tuscon to visit my daughter and stopped to get an oil change. George the assistant manager was extra helpful. He found a huge problem with the tires took me out to show me. He told me where I could go repair the problem as it was not something they could do. It might have saved my daughter's life or from injury! I really appreciate that extra help! The manager in charge today and one employee, George, refused to give us our free oil change on our punch card TWO visits in a row. We went in on our last visit expecting our oil change to be free through the punch card loyalty and were denied and told the following time would be free. We show up the next time still being denied our free loyalty card oil change with absolutely no help from the two men in the front desk. No offer to help just mansplaining how they'll get in trouble if they give us our sixth visit loyalty card free oil change. I was charged $111.00 for the Synthetic oil change. I NEVER thought I would be changed such a ridiculous amount for not asking before hand. They reduced it a little bit because I complained about it and all they could reduced it by was $10.00. I have NEVER paid more than sixty some dollars a Synthetic oil change. I usually pay under $60 at Brake Masters, but I saw a sign that said $26.99. It took them less than 8 minutes to rip me for $91.57. The mechanics were incredibly fast and polite, and time is money. If you have nothing better to do with $40 and don't want to sit around at Break Masters for 2 hours, go here. They should change their sign. Grease Monkey, you earned this 1 star rating. I quit going to this location a while ago and was reminded why. I go to a nice Brake Masters further easy on Speedway but I was in a hurry as I just bought this car and wanted the oil changed before the work week began. Bad idea. When there is a good manager here, the place seems alright. But my latest (and last) experience has taught me to seek better places. I always expect the usual attempt to make repairs and change fluids (your fluids aren't pink, the wiper isn't wiping etc)- it's what you get at Grease Monkey, and sometimes they are right, but it is pressuring and annoying. Aside from that, I pulled up around 4:00 p.m. on a Saturday and a very upset mechanic yelled out an obscenity about "not having to deal with this ****." He angrily came to my window to take down my information and seemed very short with me. Perhaps he expected to have to work late (they close at 5) or something, or his anger was directed at something else, but either way, Grease Monkey earns a 1 star. And I don't get those out often. But lousy customer service seems to be what they excel in here, and this 1 star is earned. Bonus: while there, I heard another customer grumble about their bully tactics to get repairs done, and I converted him to a wonderful place on the east side and gave him the name and information and he said he would start going there. read more

Good experience, fair price and quick service on a basic conventional oil change. Price quoted was the price charged but I specified that I wanted conventional oil and thats what they did. Everywhere you go these days you'll get the free multipoint inspection, which is their opportunity to try to sell you more than you knew you wanted. This place is no exception, but they did not try to hard sell when I declined extra services. The extra services I thought were very over priced (e.g. $40 for a cabin air filter, which was actually dirty and needed changing, but this is a $10 part at an auto parts store and literally takes 30 seconds to install). I went here because I read Kevin D.'s review about how they only give you what you need, guaranteed. However, that was not the case when I came here. I have a hard time going to get my oil changed by myself, as a young female who only knows the very basics about cars (maybe that's my problem). This scenario was no different. While they had my car in and out in 10 minutes (on a Friday morning), the amount of salesmanship I received outweighed the good. I'm all for recommendations on what needs to be worked on or updated, but I felt like the staff was using technical lingo on purpose, and not answering my questions fully because they were stretching the truth. This place has always been on my yellow flag list. Never having used them before I decided to give them a go. I had to get my oil changed it was $24bucks, i dont know if thats the cheapest yet, But....... $50 dollars is what i payed for a Fuel Filter they installed, these things cost $15 bucks on the cheap, and thats the kind i got. I should've done this myself, but i was lazy, and now Im just stupid. It really takes 5 minutes to install,grrr. The service was a bit cold, I didnt know there was an inside area, so i waited outside(100 degrees). I like it there but I wish i knew about my options. an old fashion "you could wait inside" would have sufficed. I told some other people about my ordeal, and found nothing but bad reviews. These people have never heard of yelp, so im speaking on their behalf. Just Two more people that distrust this place. read more

Two things to remember before anyone posts reviews for any lube/mechanic shop: 1. 90% of recommendations from shops are based on manufacturer requirements, not the opinion of the guys at the lube shop; 2. Your father may have understood how his 1982 Chevy worked, but unless he works in the mechanic industry he has probably not kept informed of changes in cars since then (To wit, try taking his advice on using any oil other than a synthetic in any vehicle newer than 2010 and then watch the glee in your dealer's face as he voids your warranty.) I've been taking my truck to Grease Monkey ever since I moved to Tucson and, as a concerned owner who does most of my own maintenance at home, I like the fact that they don't seem to have much of a separation of duties in the shop. That means that the guys who sell me services also perform the services, so they know what they're talking about. As a self-responsible adult I have no problem turning down any of their recommendations either because I can't afford it or I'd rather do it myself, but I appreciate that they keep me informed of the manufacturer's requirements. And they've always been able to speak intelligently about the status of my truck. Car health is important to these guys. You don't expect a chef to tell you that canned chicken is just as good as organic. You don't expect a dentist to tell you that flossing once a month is all you really need. Why expect your mechanics to hold a lower standard for their trade? I'll be going to these guys for a long while. read more

I've been coming here regularly for more than 5 years. ALWAYS fast and professional service. It's been largely the same core of workers during that time, which I take as a good sign. Services are reasonably priced and there is a spartan but clean waiting room. Sure they make suggestions - especially routine maintenance things. Since my vehicle is in their database they keep track of the routine maintenance needed to keep the vehicle going at peak performance. No pressure from them and I appreciate it. In fact, a couple years ago they made a suggestion regarding a needed repair (which they couldn't do) - wound up saving me $$$ and a biiiiiiiig headache. Thanks guys. FYI......upsells on unnecessary items. Took Tundra in for oil change. Was told the gear box (differentials on 4x4) needed change at 50k. Dealer said after checking, the synthetic that is put in the vehicle didn't need changing until 90k. Now the truck has a lesser quality oil that will need changing mire frequently. Consumer beware. Check dealer recommendations BEFORE accepting the lube shops. This location, maybe others. Maybe even other Lube places are doing the same. read more

This place advertises a $21.99 oil change on their site and a $24.99 oil change on their sign but when all was said and done, they tried charging me $83.99 without any warning. I expect a small oil disposal fee from most places but this is absurd. On top of that they tried selling me an a/c filter replacement when I just changed it a week ago.... and they even had the gaul to show it to me and convince me that it was dirty. read more

First time in for an oil change and I was pleased with how quick the service was. I was the only customer there, and my oil change was done in ~10 minutes. Going in, I knew that my car was up to date on services, and was happy when they told me the same and didn't push any extra services. The employees were very friendly and even washed (all of) my windows and vacuumed the front of my car. I have never had that happen at any other grease monkey, and I was very appreciative! Get a firm quote before you let them move your car onto the rack. A "$26.99 oil change" is a loss leader come-on. Not only do they try to up-sell you on all sorts of non-essential things (transmission, fuel system flushes), but the oil change itself balloons up and up. A Mobil One change with filter just set me back over $100. Ouch! This, for a service a dealership will charge about $40. My bad for not asking in advance. read more

My experience was terrible at Grease Monkey. All I needed was a simple oil change. The workers tried scaring me into buying all sorts of new parts and fluids for my car. I take care of the fluids on my own so I know none of them needed refilling; and my dad (a mechanic) checks out all the insides whenever I'm home visiting. So my car is regularly checked on and taken care of. After numerous attempts of upselling, I finally was able to leave with just a simple oil change. I went there one day before I hit the road and had a good experience. They began sending me coupons for $17.00 oil changes so I have been back. With my job I put 3,000 hard miles on my car every five weeks so price is important but it is the service that keeps me coming back. The owner is there all the time, he deals with his customers, doesn't try and sell me all this extra crap but does inform me of things that my mechanic husband needs to look at. They always have sales going on and it's not too hard to find a coupon so I've never actually paid full-price. They told me that my car needed an oil change. I brushed it off because i had just paid the Grease Monkey to do it. The next day my maintenance light came on. Sure enough it was my oil. I had the other mechanics fix it and went back to Grease Monkey to request a refund. I kept receipts from both places and had a photo of my maintenance light with my miles in it. The manager (along with his employees) seemed nervous and scrambled. They were extremely rude to me and refused to refund me my money. When i asked for the corporate number the manager told me "This is the corporate store" and proceeded to give me the store number. Upon looking at the receipt further, i noticed the real corporate number was at the bottom He lied to me about that too. Seems like these guys have something to hide.
