Worst customer service. I've been here a few times before but lately it's just not been as good as it was. When I was ready to place my order, the 2 employees working there were talking to each other, (and I was the only customer) then when they finally decide to take my order after waiting, I order one sandwich and she just turns around and starts talking again (in Spanish disregarding me) when I have more food to order. This place is a joke. I ordered a blueberry muffin, and 2 egg + cheese tomazzo bagels with cream cheese.. they delivered the sandwiches with no cream cheese, and forgot my muffin entirely. This location has gone downhill! 1st I go in to order a bagel to go; no one acknowledges me at all for a good 5 minutes and no they were not busy. 2nd I ordered on DoorDash for a pick up. Took me 20 minutes to get there; my order hasn't even been looked at. Had to leave or I would have been late to work. 3rd just ordered DoorDash and they get my order totally wrong!! The food and employees were great, but the manager needs a reality check. He stood there staring over the shoulder of the employee making our sandwiches, it was so incredibly uncomfortable. It was clear he has no idea how to do anything. He could have helped make the other sandwich we ordered, but instead watched over their shoulders like he was gonna do something wrong. He could have rung us out while his employee was making the sandwiches, but had no ability to sign into his own POS system. He kept making weird small talk and just hovering around and staring. After the employee finished making our order, he rang us out very courteously. The manager interjected with "thanks, the last two customers here gave me the finger before leaving" ???? Wtf?? I don't stop often but when I want a really good fresh bagel this is my choice. Nice selection of bagels all fresh & chewy as bagels should be. Menu has a wide variety of choices. I love the Great American Bagel. But I used to go to the one in Chicago on Belmont. This one in Orland Park was 'fine', but we paid a total of $6 for cream cheese on each bagel (3 bagels) and they only placed a very thin layer of cream cheese in each. If I had the energy to do so (which I just don't today), I would ask for a refund on the cream cheese. When I eat a bagel, I want the cream cheese to ooze out. This is how it has always been at my prior Great American Bagel store. In this one, when I opened the bagel the cream cheese was transparent on both sides. Bummer! Their bagels are great but preparation of the bagel is crucial. If they don't change this practice, you are MUCH better off buying the bagels dry and spending your $6 on a cream cheese container of your choice. read more

NEVER again.. I'm not sure what has happened to this location. My boyfriend went in this morning and ordered 2 bacon egg and cheese bagels which is what we always order so we know what they are supposed to look like. I unwrapped mine and made a sour face so my boyfriend looks at his and it was even more disgusting looking. I would not even feed my cat this. Update!! New ownership beware!! Are you guys aware of the embarrassment the Orland Park location has become? Please take a minute to look at the reviews being posted. This was once a great thriving restaurant. Many people came everyday. Food was excellent. The decline is service and food has hit a low so low it's hard to imagine it's still open for business. I miss this place!! I want my bagels back. My visit yesterday was beyond depressing. No one in the place. It felt as if no one had been there in days. Choice of bagels? Maybe 5-6 choices, all hard and frozen dry cracked looking sad sad options. Drink coolers near empty. Lighting inside bagel case falling off down into bagel bin. It pains me having to write such a negative review for any business, but I was very disappointed following my last experience here. I came in for a quick breakfast with my mom after a morning of doctor appointments for a couple of bagels and a hot latte. For starters, there was mass confusion regarding the price of the bagels. I ordered a jalapeno cheddar, which I was informed was a specialty bagel. No problem. The lady working the front then informed me that bagel would not be $4 as marked but an extra $4 on top of the marked price for a total of $8. Kind of pricy, but we were hungry. Whatever. Same thing with my mom's bagel... I can't recall the flavor but she says "an extra $4 on that one too." Whatever, fine. On to the latte. My mom wanted a simple hot latte. Nothing fancy. It's listed on the menu pretty clearly. The lady assisting us looked genuinely confused and asked if we wanted "iced or blended." After reiterating we wanted a hot latte and pointing to it on the menu, the lady went to the back room and brought out a coworker from the kitchen to make the latte for us. Maybe I need to lower my standards, but they did not ask what milk or sweetener we wanted. After asking, they said they only have "regular" milk (I was surprised they did not offer a single nondairy option) and gestured towards their packets of sweetener, essentially saying do it yourself. The honey packets were all heavily crystallized and thus unusable. We were the only customers in the store, and I'm likely underestimating here when I say it took upwards of 25 minutes to receive our order (three toasted bagels with cream cheese and a cafe latter). When you walk into this place you may take notice of the dirty windows and just proceed in, but I noticed these dirty windows, dirty floors as well as not so bright and clean tables and glass for the bagels. This place looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months, the staff is friendly, but I really do not care if it's friendly or not, there is no excuse for not having a clean establishment. Besides being clean and having friendly staff; the owner or manager of this place has thought it would be a great idea to use the left over bagels as bagel bones, or if they're not left over, they sit in the basket till they expire. This was noticed in the morning, which would mean the closer from yesterday and the opener missed these bagels in neglect. Most of the bagel son the top basket have what looks to be mold on them. Who wants to mistakenly server these to their dogs??? Great American Bagel Orland Owner; is the $0.69 or $0.99 worth it? Would you feed these to your dogs?? It makes me question that if they're not checking the bagel bones, are they checking the normal bagels for mold as well? This is my favorite place to get Bagels. They are big fluffy and fresh. They have a good variety of cream cheese flavors and they have sandwiches for both breakfast and lunch my favorite Bagel is the cheddar cheese and onion with egg & cheddar cheese. For this Orland location only. Manager/owner was working the counter - he was impatient and rude in a "hurry it up will ya" sort of way that made us feel like we were putting him out just by being there, even though the place was nearly empty at lunchtime. Bagel case was sparse (maybe 20% full) and the bagels all looked strangely pale. We are regular customers of another GAB and know what the bagels "usually" look like so almost walked out, but then convenience won out and we ended up regretting it... The Manager took a call on his cell phone (with his food handling gloves on) in the middle of filling our order - eew! and was also dividing his attention between us and the cashier who didn't seem to know how to work the register. Place had a weird vibe, with people standing around behind the counter who weren't actually doing anything. I asked one of them for help with the cream cheese case and he said he didn't work there. The cream cheese case btw was dirty and poorly stocked "Sorry, just what you see in there...." The bill was a surprise too. Thought we were getting the "Bundle of Bagels & More (cream cheese, plates, knives, napkins) for $16.99, then saw a $5 "custom order" charge on the receipt. Turns out there are "super" and "specialty" bagels in the same case with the regular bagels. These special bagels come with a special 68 cent upcharge per each. If you want to know the difference though you'll have to ask, because it's not obvious and the manager didn't mention it until I asked about the extra charge on the receipt. Oh, and we didn't get any plates, knives or napkins either. The mystery of the pale bagels was solved when we got home and ate one. Undercooked to the point of being gummy. Even the toaster couldn't fix it. Not good at all. The whole impression was that there must be something more important to these folks than the business of making and selling bagels, because they don't seem at all interested in providing a product or experience that will make customers want to come back. While our experience with other GAB locations has been good, I can't recommend this one. read more

For this location only. I visit five or six GAB'S for lunch during my work day. Stopped into Orland Park for a late lunch and was made to feel very unwelcome, not by the regular staff I usually see but by the owner. Very short and rude with me this visit. He even complained about stamping my card, which is a buy 10 sandwiches and the 11th one is free. I will continue to stop at the other stores , but will not so much as drive by this one. This is the most ghetto run down location I have ever been to. I was there on a Saturday morning around 10:30 am and they didn't have much of a selection. On top of that, the place looked filthy. The back counter and the counter by the soda machine looked like it wasn't even cleaned from the night before. There was only one person working so maybe that is why it looked that way...? Worst location I have ever been to, and I LOVE Great American Bagel. I ordered an Asiago bagel toasted with cream cheese and a large coffee. Not only do I believe I was over charged, but the bagel was awful. I didn't realize until after leaving since I took my order to go, but rather than charging me for the bagel and large coffee combo, I was charged for everything separately, with an additional dollar charge for a signature item? Not even sure what this is. Besides the cost, the bagel was so upsetting. I noticed the girl making the bagel was trying to spin the toaster to get the bagel out.. which I came to realize later was her just trying to speed up the process meaning my bagel was not even toasted. I'm not sure if you have ever eaten a cold Asiago bagel before but it is not good! Very skimpy on the cream cheese as well. I live very close to this location so I am so upset that I will be needing to drive farther to get my fix. This place is a waste of money and just makes your day off to a terrible start. read more

If I could give this establishment 10 stars I would do it! My 2 year old daughter and I went in to sit down and enjoy a bagel together. The owner came out and brought a highchair out for my daughter and pulled it right up to our table. The lady behind the counter and the owner were so extremely friendly. The owner even took it upon himself to spoil my daughter with a cookie bigger than her head and some baked potato chips and make me promise not to eat any of it because it was for my daughter. Went for the first time for "Bagels and brushes" kids painting event. It was busy and a little chaotic with little ones running around. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly as well as the other staff members. The prices were very reasonable. My daughter had a pepperoni pizza bagel that was included in the event pricing, however I did not see it as a regular menu item. She liked it but was only able to eat half of it before getting full. I had the chicken pesto panini. They even made some fresh pesto for my sandwich. It was really good. I got half a dozen bagels to go for around $9.00. Some of the flavors were sold out since it was later in the afternoon. They also have a wide variety of bottled drinks/juices that I have not seen anywhere else. read more

We placed a order on uber eats, ordered an Asiago bagel, they did not have it due to the morning rush, that was disappointing but not the end of the world. When our Order arrived the bagel they had switched the bagel that they switched for the Asiago (poppy seed) did not have any cream cheese and on the receipt it says super bagel with cream cheese. We called the store to see if there was a way to get cream cheese, the lady put us on hold and went and got the manager. The manager was the most disrespectful person I have ever had to deal with, he was yelling at us saying we ordered the wrong thing and it says no cream cheese when it is clear as day on our receipt super bagel with plain cream cheese. He then told us to call uber eats and that it was their problem and not his and hung up on us. I am a manager myself and I am at a loss of words at the way that man had acted, completely unprofessional and would not even talk to us over cream cheese. I order from here all of the time and the food is absolutely delicious but I will never order from here again because of how disrespected I feel. Great American Bagel have friendly staff. It's a convenient location to my home. Reasonably priced. I definitely recommend.

Myself, and my co-workers, usually order and get delivery from this location. The food is great! However, the customer service is lacking. When you place an order and they state it should only be about 30 mins - let me mind you we are less than 3 miles away from this location - it should not take over an hours, and 2 phone calls, to see where your food is at. Management didn't even offer to provide a discount on the order, or on a future visit (if we even keep going there now). The only things they could say was, "Well we just got busy and we need to get the line down first." Last time I checked I ordered before that line even got there. My suggestion: Hiring more people may cost more upfront, but once the customer service level goes up I guarantee so will your volume of clientele and maybe we will return to your location as well. read more
