People are out here on Yelp complaining about Great Clips when they're the least expensive place! I don't expect a perfect or jaw-dropping cut at 12 bucks, but it was done well and was quick and efficient. The stylist, Steven, was friendly and followed my style preference. What else, what else. My ends were so dry and damaged so when I saw a coupon in the mail for $7.99 I decided to schedule an appointment to take advantage of the discount. When I called I was informed they don't take appointments but that I could check-in online. There was an hour wait so the check-in was great as I was able to time when to leave my house. When I arrived to check-in, I was first in line in the queue. Ashlynn was my stylist today. I got three inches cut off and asked for slightly angled layers. Ashlynn was outgoing and struck a conversation with me. My haircut was super fast! Unlike other salons, Great Clips sprays your hair wet and if you want to have your hair washed it's a separate fee. They also don't blow dry your hair. Since my hair is generally dry looking, frizzy, and wavy when it's wet, it was hard for me to tell how the haircut looked as I usually straighten my hair. One of the other stylist overheard me and Ashlynn talking about how frizzy my hair is even though I've tried every product out there. He recommended Sexy Hair - Strong Sexy Hair Core Flex Anti-Breakage Leave-In Reconstructor. I asked Ashlynn to put the product in my hair as my hair was frizzy. My hair looked sleeker when I got home. Since I am currently using other products I'll buy it at a later time when I've finished using the other products. I requested a simple Bob that was a little bit choppy. What I got was a '70s shag cut and boy was it choppy. It is so uneven you cannot do anything to correct it. I called Great clips corporate headquarters and was told I would receive a phone call within 24 to 48 hours. I waited the time frame and then called them back. I was told I would receive a call that day. Well it's now going on a week since my first contact with corporate. I should know better than to try a subpar salon that only does haircuts. I think the manager of the store was the one who cut my hair. Her name was Ashlyn. On my initial visit, I signed up online and came to the store when they told me to. When I got there I needed to wait another 30 minutes to get in a chair. I had plans at 6:15. Then when I got in the chair I showed Ashlyn a picture of the cut I wanted. I thought it would be an easy haircut. I just wanted 2 in cut off and the same style that I had before. Ashlyn got distracted by another hair stylist who was having problems with a mother and a preteen daughter. Since she was just distracted I let her take care of the other girls hair. I didn't know this was going to take so long so eventually I said hey I just have to leave and return to finish my bangs. I signed up online at 4:00 and it was going on 6:05 p.m.. My hair is styled like a pixie cut and shag all mixed up. Ashlyn didn't consider the fact that I have a cowlick in the back when layering my hair. Is an inverted bob supposed to be layered? I was supposed to get an inverted bob but instead I have some sort of shag cut that went out of style in the '70s. I also wake up every morning with hair that has to be fixed right away. That hasn't been the case in so many years. I was told this morning, on my third call to corporate that the owner of the shop has three attempts to give me a call back. Well she hasn't called me once. When is this going to get escalated. I want to go get another haircut from some other place but I want to also give great cuts the opportunity to fix this mess. What I'm most perturbed about is I left out of the Great clips feeling kind of happy because the girl fixed my hair with a blow dryer and made it look really pretty. When I got home took a shower I saw how uneven my hair was on both sides and in the back. I have a feeling I'm going to have to get it cut even more than 2 inches more to get even close to the haircut I want it. Sad, the trust you put into a hair stylist who you believe is a manager of a Boutique. All I really want is a phone call to let them know how unhappy I am. Since I can't get that from them I decided to write a review in hopes that no one else goes to The Elkridge Great Clips. Jerri absolute butchered my hair. I asked for a slight trim and then she chopped off most of my hair. It looks like my 5 year old when nuts with a pair of scissors. Chunks are missing, it's not blended whatsoever and is not what I asked for at all. I have no clue how a trim turned into a hack job. I now have to pay over $200 to get extensions to hide this god awful mess. I've cried many hours over this. 2 years of growing my hair out has been completely ruined. read more

OK simple cut. But why are there signs in the lot advertising $7.99 for a haircut, then you are told that's over and charged $15.00 after the cut? You better ask first. Also, I've been here many times because it's convenient, and heck, I barely have any hair. Hard to mess me up. But if you do have hair, you might want to be a little more picky, I'm not so confident in their skills. I am also convinced the 'Online Check-in' is a farce. What I like about her is she will ask if the cut is ok and will trim more if not. Didn't get the chance to get a haircut today. Walked in around 1130 and there were a few people waiting. Waited for the man on the phone to be done with his call so I could check in. Instead of checking me in, he went directly back to the client he was working on without addressing me. I asked if I should just take a seat and he laughed telling me it would be a while. Being 2 miles from home, I have been here many, many times. I need to post a review for fellow yelpers who deserve more from a haircut place. Online check-in is a complete joke and doesn't mean anything. Here is one of many examples I have: I checked in today with a 7 minute estimated wait time. There were 2 "stylists" at work when I arrived 5 minutes after checking in. 10 minutes later, one of them finished and asked/told me "you can wait for her ok?" and left to go smoke out back with an off shift co-worker. So I sat for another 10+ minutes. I have listened to the stylists make fun of customers after they left. Uncomfortable to say the least. Most importantly, having sat in every stylists chair, not one can really give a good haircut! I can't believe I keep going back but it's close to home, and my hair grows quick. I have to fix my haircut every time at home using my own Oster trimmer. read more

Have been a Great Clips customer for about 10 years now in AZ so when we moved to MD I was glad one was close by. Service is definitely on the lower end compared to the one I used to go in AZ. Stylists are far from friendly and it could be a hit or miss on the quality of cut you receive. I have been to this location twice now, will try few more times and start looking elsewhere if the experience is not better. On the last visit the ladies there where two busy talking amongst themselves and the owner who had stopped by then cutting my hair. There seemed to be a lot of interruptions as the lady was too eager to sign in people walking in the door the focusing on cutting my hair even though there were other employees at the register. read more

I don't expect much from a haircut, which is why I don't go to more expensive places. I have gone to many Great Clips locations and this is the only one so bad (I've been there at least 6 times as it is close to work) that I've felt the need to post about. In contrast, before I moved last year I went to the one in Dundalk (Wise ave) for many years, quite happily. Most of that was due to one stylist that was perfect, but even when she wasn't there I was never unhappy. I've never been very happy with this (Elkridge) location but I'll just focus on today. The woman, who has cut my hair at least two other times and not that long ago, clearly had no idea who I was and simply asked " number 2" referring to the clipper guard size to use on the sides and back. To back up a minute, I checked in online, which I take issue with Great Clips as a whole on this one as it does not seem to matter. I have walked in, at the Elkridge location having checked in online and been taken after someone who walked in next to me but did not check in online, but I digress. So the stylist walks up to me, quite somberly, without speaking a word. She finally asks if I checked in online, and I answer "yes". I explain my simple cut, 2 on the sides and back, faded to the top and spiked on top. I have a silent, uncomfortable haircut, and find once in my car a crooked sideburn and inconsistent areas of length on the top. I will not return. read more

I would not recommend the Great Clips in Lyndwood Square, Elkridge. People in my family have been there many times. One of us got a bad haircut in the past, and we still kept going. On our most recent visit, the customer service was poor and we had to get something fixed with the haircut before we left. That's it-- we're done. read more

This is my first review on yelp about any service. This was the worst service that i have ever experienced in my life. Will not step in to this location again. I took my son who is 4 years old and linda was the one who started to cut his hair and kept complaining that he was moving, she did not even ensure that the hair doesn't fall on his face. what was she expecting a 4 year old to do with hair that was cut all over his body and face?this is not the first time i got my son a haircut, but first time at greatclips. Half way through she decides to not cut the hair.Most rudest behavior that i have ever come across that i just stepped out of the salon and writing this review. Never ever visit this salon, they do not know how to treat their customers. i will soon reach out to the manager as well. Don't come here if you want a decent haircut for the price. Was not expecting anything great, as I have been here multiple times. I just came here to get a trim, to get about 3 inches off of my very long hair, left without seeing what was done to my hair. Got home, realized about 5 inches were cut off, in the most awful shape. You could use a protractor to measure the 90 degree angle that was made along the ends of my hair. I had to go back to get it fixed, they cut even more off. The woman, Alishba, who cut my hair must have a fake license, not sure how she got a job giving services like this. Absolutely not going back to this location, nor another Great Clips in the future. read more
