The Sharon Heights shop is conveniently located in Menlo Park, always very clean, seemingly well run. With the Check-In feature I've never had to wait more than a couple minutes upon arrival. This is the second time I have come here when the hair stylist fails to clean her equipment. Her equipment was strewn across the counter , the scissors had grey hair and dark brown hair and some long blonde hair. The person cutting my hair boasted she works in Hollister and manages 3 Clips. This would explain why the other stylist doesn't care about cleaning their equipment or sweeping the area prior to the next victim taking a seat. She asked how I liked my cut with the mirror and I said it wasn't great and she said thank you so much have a great day...... she didn't even listen to what I said! I guess you get what you pay for. The stylist cut my hair way too short and I even asked her to stop cutting the part I told her that she was cutting too short. She continued to cut it anyways. She wasn't even paying attention to what i was saying. Then when I wash my hair when I got home my hair was sticking straight up in the areas I told her to stop cutting. I called to complain and she just says "come back in four weeks and I'll cut it for free". Really? I told her that I'm never coming back to this place. Absolutely sh!t service. This last was my first and last visit here . I am very disappointed specially with manager Kelly who falsified information when I called and asked to come but gift cards . I was told I can use the gift card after out purchase but she points to a nonsense rule they made that you can't use this gift card here in first visit . Now I wasted 40 miles of driving and gas . The reservation system is completely broken. Reserved a spot online. Said "53 minutes". Stayed 53 minutes for about 45 minutes. Then they call me and say they are available. Told them I would be there in about 5 minutes. When I get there, they had removed me from the appointment system, helped someone else, and asked me to start over. The staff acted like it is my issue. The last time I was at the location, I was served by an untrained staff member who cut my hair poorly and didn't follow "the notes" that they supposedly keep on their customers. Just got my hair cut by "Kim". She consulted her "notes" from their system, which consisted of a bunch of numbers that meant nothing to me. She seemed unable to explain to me in English what the numbers mean. She then proceeded to cut my hair so short it is practically shaved clean. (Fortunately I have little hair to begin with, so maybe no one will notice. Just kidding.) This is not the first time I've been to this location, and the haircut I get is different every time, despite their "notes" system which is supposed to produce consistent results. I've had my hair cut here twice and have been happy with the results both times. I saw Stacy and Catherine, who are both friendly and talkative. Given how expensive the peninsula is, the price can't be beat. The online check in is helpful in seeing how long the wait is, although I've never made an appointment and never had to wait more than a few minutes. I got a discount of $2 my first time by checking in on yelp and the cost of my wash, trim, and blow dry was $27! I would have spent $45+ elsewhere. I took my daughter for a hair cut before she starts school. We should've left after the first woman called us back, and I asked for 'layers' for my daughters hair. Firstly, the Indian woman said, "we only do straight hair cuts". To which I replied, "Exactly. And you don't know how to do layers?" She said no, so another Asian woman cut her hair. Totally disastrous haircut!! We got a coupon in the mail for a $7.99 haircut here. My husband is not picky about his hair (his usual place is Supercuts) so I suggested he come here & use the coupon. What a huge mistake! He had the worst haircut of his life here. The back of his head is cut way too short and very unevenly. He has a huge stripe on the back of his head of hair that was't cut as short and then hair cut very short above and below it. Believe me, neither he nor I is that picky about hair and we are usually perfectly satisified with his cheap Supercuts haircuts. But this is cut is so terrible you can tell from 20 feet away that the back of his head is uneven. My husband took my toddler to get a haircut today. The hairdresser, if she can be called that, was horrific. Her name is Winnie. She cut my son's hair uneven, crooked bangs, and simply looked awful Unfortunately, my husband left and noticed the horrible haircut but went back to the same unskilled hairdresser to fix it. Winnie ended up making it even way worse if that could even possibly be done. I'm in tears. I called her and she suggested I take him back a third time or get my money back. I came here before and got an awesome haircut. I came back today to get a trim. I even showed the lady the same picture I used last time. It's the cut that Melanie Jonas has on Days of our Lives. I said I want this cut. I do the little spiral curls with a curling iron and even showed her what I do. I also showed her how I do my bangs and said they need to be cleaned up but still long enough to curl into my hair. Instead I got a bob cut that is so short I can't curl it. I came here because it was open late on weekdays and cheap. I'm not too picky about haircuts but I just ask that the sides are short and the top is long. I entered my name on the app and was at the hair salon on time, they called 2 people that were on the list ahead of me and once my name came up one of the employees skipped my name and took another costumer she knows. She obviously gave them preference since they were regulars, so I asked them that they had skipped me and the response was that since they had already called the other person they will call my name next. That did not made since, they could have easily told the person they called that they made a mistake and cut my hair in the order shown on the list. Make sure to let them know where your name is on the list, so that they don't skip you. Don't know what the app is for if they are going to skip people. read more
