I visited the Great Clips location on February 22, 2026, at approximately 11:30 AM. I checked in online as I have consistently done for more than two years and received the text notification indicating it was time to head to the salon. When I arrived, the in-store screen showed an estimated 30-minute wait. I rely on the app's time estimate, which is one of the main reasons I choose this salon. After waiting about 25 minutes, the stylist named Melisa called another customer from the bottom of the list instead of calling my name, even though I was next. I went to the register to ask why I had not been called and was told that I had not checked in. I explained that my name was already on the list through online check-in and that I have never been required to check in again upon arrival during the years I have been visiting. Unfortunately, she did not respond to my explanation and simply turned around and walked away, which felt rude and dismissive. Another employee kindly stepped in and completed my haircut professionally, and I appreciate his assistance. I have always had positive experiences at Great Clips, which is why this interaction was disappointing. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Melissa took care of us and she absolutely demolished my daughter and made insulting comments towards a little girl unnecessarily. My daughter who already didn't want to cut her hair was met with this horrible women who would not stop complaining about my kid to her face, talking about how "why would she wear a sweater" and "why is it so tangled when's the last time you've showered" where is the decency. Talking to a 11 year old girl like this and COMPLAINING TO OTHER CUSTOMERS about my daughter infront of her. Whoa....its been a while since I left some reviews, but honestly, this one has to be said. I went on 4/5/23, and I can't remember her name, but she may have been Persian. She was really nice and funny, but my haircut experience was not that great. It felt rushed and didn't fulfill my expectations. I noticed around 2 to 3 hours after my haircut that I have this huge line across my neck, which could have been her clippers or something, but after experiencing this I do not want to go back. Great clips in Rancho San Diego have the most caring and sweetest staff. I come in here periodically to get hair cuts with my clients from work. I don't know much about mens hair cuts or even how to style it so I typically just show a picture from google and the hair stylists/dressers here really replicate/ give their own twist to it. The staff really makes you feel welcome once you walk through their doors and checking in is real easy. I normally just do it online now via Yelp which saves a lot of time depending on how many appointments there are that day. Finding parking is also a breeze, this location is in a shopping center so there's plenty of spaces. read more

KAT IS MY FAVORITE HAIRDRESSER. This comment comes with a lot of bad experiences getting bad haircuts throughout my life. It takes me a lot to go in to get a hair cut due to my work schedule. This location is nearest to my home and I have seen a few other hairdressers who have cut my hair, but felt like they cut too fast and did not care about detail. They rushed and it felt like they were carelessly trying to get me out of the door quickly. Kat took the time to cut my hair well, paying attention to detail, and also having a good conversation. When asking what I would like, I let her know that I wanted a trim to get rid of my dead ends and that the length was still important to me. She was very kind, patient, and made me feel comfortable. Today was my second delightful trip to this barber shop as I had such a SUPER experience the first time around with Jessica. I walked into the shop with 1 woman waiting. Stephanie (Stefany? Stephany?) cut my hair the other day, and I couldn't be happier! I have trust issues with salons and hairdressers, so I was very nervous going in. But now, a couple days later, I am so pleased!! I just recently realized my hair is turning wavy after being straight my whole life, and she is a curly haired girl herself, so she knew what kind of cut might suit me best. I have fine, very low density waves, and am learning how to style/care for it. I got about 3-4 inches taken off, some long layers, and face framing. Now I am in love with my hair for the first time in my life!! I researched some ideas on haircuts before going in, and forgot to mention the layers, but Stephanie suggested it and I'm so glad she did! Everything is even, the perfect length I asked for, and she was kind and understanding the entire time. I wish I could say the same about the older woman who cut my daughter's hair... which unfortunately is uneven and her bangs look like she did it herself. I'll have to try and touch it up myself I guess. That's the reason for 1 star removed. That, and I thought they would wash hair before the cut, but they don't. Is that standard practice now? I asked the lady to trim his hair lower due to the hair looking at uneven, the lady answered that his hair grew that way. She started to say that she was professional and not to tell her how to do her job which I never said this. This is not the regular place that I go to but I was already in the area. Couldn't get past check-in. I have been here before and had some great haircuts. The problem is the check in. I don't want to give my phone number and there is one lady who is so rude. She refuses to listen and has checked me in claiming I refuse to have my info saved. It is because she will not listen to what I said. They have all my info, just not my phone number. She makes me repeat each letter of my name four or five times as she types. Then she puts me down as refusing to provide info and tells everyone I am angry. Which I am not, because it's funny when people act that way. She just upsets herself, or gets a kick out of being ridiculous. I called this location (after reading their Yelp reviews and saw that they do hair cut donations for the Wigs for Kids organization) to get more information. I recently moved to Chula Vista and I don't know anything about the hair places down here. I was hoping to find a place where I felt comfortable and could donate. I came this afternoon and all the ladies were very friendly and greeted me right away. Stephanie cut my hair and styled it as well. She asked me right away what I wanted to do with it after I said I'd like her to cut as much of a ponytail as possible. She was able to get 18 inches and then I showed her some pictures and she styled it very nice! It was super clean and sterile in the shop as well. Wow. I went in to get a haircut for my 8 year old son. The stylist named Jessica was at the front. She was so unpleasant and rude right off the bat, about whether we were registered or not. Then she worked on my son's hair. She was so huffy and puffy. I thought maybe she's having a bad day so just dealt with it. Then it was time to pay...she charged me for an adult haircut and I pointed it out that my son is 8 years old and she sarcastically says "Well he doesn't look like an 8 year old". Me and my 2 girls went today. It's not our first time, but this is the first time I was completely satisfied. We scored such a deal! I was going to have to end up paying $25 a piece (including shampoo wash) for each of us but they had a deal! If you bought a gift card and loaded with at least 5 haircuts they would come out to be be $12.99 each (not including shampoo, but only $6 more) so for the same price we would have paid anyways, I got 2 more haircuts to come.
