It was quickly dried and styled in center or side parts, with lots of volume, lift and swing. Elegant and easy. Derek said he couldn't understand me. I should have left immediately. What I have now is an inexplicable cut, 2-5 " off, barely chin length, huge amounts of hair removed, wispy layers everywhere, and texturizing. He has activated a mass of waves and curls never seen before. From the front, the shape is a cartoonish wide diamond. From the sides, a fat wedge. This is the opposite of what is required for copious, European, fine, porous hair with a nape curl and minimal wave. Derek basically has created a White girl Afro. He somehow dried it beautifully, disguising the weird architectural structure by using a tiny brush on myriad narrow strands, drying them straight, and contorting them via elaborate manual sculpting techniques, product and nearly an hour of work. Maybe he planned to do twice-weekly blowdries on it. I have spent many days and dollars elsewhere experimenting with product, techniques and professional advice while attempting to cope. Derek pleasantly refunded the charges and apologized for the "inconvenience." This is far worse than inconvenient.

I called in ahead of time to ask if I could purchase the 5 cuts for $60 and use the card on the same day, since a previous Great Clips barber told me that I couldn't. The staff member today said I could. I got a haircut from another person in the store and it was done well. When I went to go pay, I was told that there were no more cards in the store and I had to pay full price. When I reminded the lady that I spoke with on the phone that I had called, she told me that she was only answering about the process of using the card, that calling wasn't relevant to the store not having any cards in at the time, and I was told to "be real" when I complained. There was no apology or any attempt to make any accommodation. It might have been an honest mistake to just answer my question over the phone, but good customer service would be to check if there were cards and to at least apologize for the inconvenience. I will not be returning. I didn't catch the name of the staff member, but it was not the two Asian ones. read more

In my whole life have I never gone to a hair salon where they treated me so rudely. Today I went in for a hair cut without making an appointment. To my knowledge this didn't seem like a problem to me due to the fact there were no customers. But was I wrong, the person at the front gave me the biggest eye roll of my life. And rudely asked what I needed, I told them I just needed a quick hair cut. The lady told me to sit down and that someone will come. Later, a man came with the rudest attitude. He didn't treat me like a human being and was making rude remarks on my hair. He told me my edge up was messed up and it was beyond fixable. Never come to this salon. They need better customer service and stop treating people like Animals. read more

Top Hair Cuts was the top result in my zip code search. I looked on Yelp and saw great reviews, so I thought I'd give them a try. I dropped in just after they opened at 10am today (a Friday). I was told there was a 15-20 minute wait. Twenty minutes later I showed the lady (I unfortunately forgot to ask her name) a couple of photographs of my last haircut at the place in NorthPark. It isn't at all a NorthPark experience; it's at a strip mall off Skillman and Audelia. She cut my hair dry (with water from a spray bottle), but she did a FANTASTIC job. I've been told (by a stylist) that I have "four times the amount of hair of a normal person" and I'd let it grow since October 2020. She cut it exactly the way I asked, and asked me if I wanted her to "thin" it a little (other stylists do this without asking). I told her it was okay as it was. She still went over it for another 5-7 minutes making sure the ends were even. When I went to pay, she gave me the credit card slip to sign, and when I frowned at it, she said, "Ladies' haircut is usually $16, but your hair was long and thick, so $5 extra." She didn't understand; the amount of the haircut was roughly what I've tipped in the past. It was a joy to be able to tip her the same amount and still feel deliriously happy at the great bargain. This is a great place. I hope they're able to stay in business and keep the humble prices. (There's also a great bakery right next door - the Jolly Jolly Bakery - but that's another review. I like this funky little shopping center!)

Really bad. My friend is upset. I feel terrible. I told her I'm going to pay someone else to fix it. I know 2 sisters operate this place. This bad cut was done by the sister working on weekdays. I'm just sick about this and so sorry for my friend's terrible experience. Just sad. Like I said, another friend had a good cut. But this friend did not. They don't charge much, but based on what I saw, I wouldn't risk it.
