Excellent! Nothing pompous or haughty here; just a very nice, clean little place where you can get a good haircut from good people at a very low price. Unfortunately I forgot my stylist's name (again!-- I'm terrible with remembering names); but he did an excellent job, and I am very happy with the result. He was polite and professional, took his time and layered my hair beautifully (he's the tall gentleman with glasses and tattoos). I'll definitely be coming back! I wasn't going to leave a review, because I feel like I walked out with at least a pleasant, minimal conflict experience, but I am really disappointed with the service I received. I called ahead to ask if someone was there that could do braids. My hair is long and straight, and I was just looking for a single part, and 2 French/Dutch braids. I have had this service done before with Great Clips and got flattering, tight braids with a perfect part, so I was expecting the same. The woman on the phone said she was the "resident braider" and I mentioned her name when I arrived, but was assigned someone else. The woman who did my hair was kind and pleasant, but my braids ended up awful. She didn't even make an attempt at an even part. I had to ask for the first braid to be redone because it was uneven and unflattering. She got this braid finished and the second one took a few re-dos and was super uneven as well. The ends of the braids didn't turn out either, with about 4" of hair left unbraided. The stylist blamed my hair, but it's been braided fine before when parted symmetrically. She didn't even hand me the mirror to show me the back at the end. And I had to ask for her to at least make the first side even with the 4" left unbraided on the second side. I did the best I could asking for the service I was paying for, while also trying not to make it totally awkward or walk out. I couldn't even really go out and do anything afterwards because the part was so wavy and uneven it was just embarrassing. The braids were loose and sloppy. I was just getting the braids to uplift my day and help with the heat, but it really put a damper on my day. The stylist didn't charge much, and I left an ample tip for her time. I just can't understand how they let someone do braids of this quality at all. All my family could say was that the job looked "homemade." At least when I do my hair at home I get a straight part. Only people that can do professional looking simple braids should be doing them. It didn't help having the whole crew walking by hyping how good they looked either. I would have rather paid the usual price and gotten decent braids. read more

Terrible, really bad customer service. Noticed Ive been sitting at the top of the waitlist for about 20 minutes (Mind you I was waiting an additional 20 minutes before I made it to the top) and people are just walking in and getting haircuts before me. I thought maybe their list works differently. Nope turns out you're all just bad. My name was never called, I was never greeted, but everyone who walked in after me was. If you can't read a damn list, what the hell. Get rid of your check-in system if you aren't going to use it. read more

I went to get my hair cut to about my armpit level. It's now two full inches shorter than I wanted, just past my shoulders. The lady who cut my hair was very njce, but she knew she cut it shorter than I wanted. Thankfully hair is hair, so it'll grow out in a few months and I can get a better cut somewhere else. I'm came to Sacramento to escape the Carr fire in Redding and decided to get myself and my sons hair cuts at this great clips location today. The Carr fire came up and how we were from Redding. When I tried to pay they said it was free. What kind and wonderful people. My family has only been inconvenienced by the fire, so I refused the free cuts and gave a tip. I was desperate for a haircut... I'd cut my own hair a while back and it had grown out with no style, but I was afraid to go anywhere to get it cut because I am biracial and many stylists don't know how to handle my hair. I know of good salons that specialize but the price is $$$ and my budget wouldn't allow for it so I took a chance. I walked into the shop, was seated immediately and I was NERVOUS! I don't recall the stylists name but she was a petite blonde young woman and I kept thinking my hair is so curly, she isn't going to know what to do with me! But she totally nailed it! We have been here several times for the simple fact that it's close to our house and typically I have no complaints. Hair cuts are inexpensive and typically I have no issues. Today our haircut was 15$ plus an additional 6$ for the shampoo. Most places that's included but again whatever 20$ is still cheap. Mind you these are kid haircuts. I tipped them 5$ above the 20% sure not by much but listen all you did was wash her hair and trim an inch it took you no time at all. I heard the lady walk back and say "ya only 5$" again my kids are easy (not criers) and these cuts were simple. Not one tear was shed and you didn't have to fight them. Just by hearing that comment you might have lost my business. Sorry great clips today you were not great. :( read more

Brought my two kids (7 and 4) in for the first time. I checked in early online so they knew we were coming. The stylists were patient and kind to my kids, and paid attention to what I preferred for their cuts. My son has autism, so I gave the stylist a heads up on his sensory needs (ie telling him before using the clippers and hair dryer). This is my second time bringing my 2 sons to get a quick haircut/ trim on the sides. My youngest son is growing out the top of his hair so he only needs the sides to be cleaned up - straight to the point, simple cut w/ the clippers. Adam cut his hair the first time and gave us really good advice on growing out his hair. He wasn't here today ... so l let another person cut his hair- BAD IDEA. But let start off by saying the minute I stepped into this place TODAY- smelled like B.O. And cigarettes. Took my son the use the restroom room and the cigarette smell worse in there. I told Sarah that I do not want her to cut too high because the past barbers where fading up too much and I wanted just an even cut so his hair will have a chance to grow out. Once Sarah finished cutting my sons hair she kept combing his hair over too one side. I pushed it over to take a look and didn't pay that close attention. I payed $30 , $15 each in total for their cuts. We got outside and I took a closer look at his hair and saw how uneven and how much she ended up cutting off on the side she was trying hide w/ the comb over. I went back and told her she cut too much off on the side and now it going to take even longer to grow out - I want my $ back. She argued that she was just following the line Adam did. Are you serious? Not once she apologize, instead she said that she can even it out by cutting it higher?! No. She gave me my $ back and lol lightly slammed it on the counter and walked way. I was called to come in and get a free haircut at this location (Fairway Target), so I went in to get my hair cut. When I got there, I determined that there were two hair stylists that I would definitely not want to have cut my hair. The guy with his head half shaved and the girl with blue hair shaved in a spot with dark make-up. The other stylists looked fine, but those two no way. My turn to get my haircut and I was going to get one of the two I did not want, so I just left. I guess if you are young then you don't mind having hair stylists with weird hair cuts, but I do. So I went to the Great Clips at Blue Oaks and Woodcreek and paid for the haircut there. The look of your hair stylist does matter!! read more

No no no. This place was busy. Not sure why. A couple of the hair dressers seemed social and nice one was the guy. However my son got a rude hag. She was a pretty gal with an ugly attitude. She didn't even introduce herself. When I saw her face at the register I thought someone looks like a b..... Unfortunately I was right. She didn't do a good job. She spent maybe 15 mins. My sons hair was in his eyes and needed some more thought to his cut. I could have cut it as good. I have never taken my family to a great clips but was in a hurry and wanted to give it a try. The girl who cut my son's hair was horrible! She argued with the fact that it was cut uneven during his last haircut visit. She was not interested in listening to the customer. Then when I asked what would 20% be so I could add a tip (because I was raised to tip not because she earned it) she calculated 20% of the entire bill which included hair product.
