    I've gotten my VA state inspection here twice. It's super fast, but the interior waiting area is a little cramped in the convenience store section of the gas station. You pull up and they come snag your car. Once that happens you're out of there in under 15.

    Needed a tire patch repair and they were able to do it same deal at the end of the day. Very convenient and efficient.

    This review is for a satey Inspection. This is place is…read moreabout as dishonest as an auto shop can be. I'm a former Certified Ford Tech. I no longer turn wrenches for a living, but I can do anything a car needs. I have a Dodge Journey I purchased at a police impound in Gaithersburg Maryland. Because it was an "abandoned" vehicle, it came with a salvage title. I took the car to Craftsman Auto for inspection on 1/15/26. They failed it for some valid things and some not valid. I replaced/repaired the valid reasons it failed as soon the snow melted and I was able to work on it. THE STORY FROM HERE IS IMPORTANT!! I took the car to VA Tire & Auto a Ashburn farms next to Patel Brothers 4/27/26. The inspector, who is a very angry, and visibly unhappy man came to me and asked why it failed before. I asked, " why does that matter? That was nearly 6 months ago in Jan. and I want a new ground up inspection." He LIED and said there is an open inspection in the system within the past 30 days. I said that is impossible. The car has been sitting through the snow until it melted, and I could fix it. He grumbled and walked away. They failed the car for a tie rod and right front Headlight alignment. I found it odd they didn't put a failure sticker on the car windshield. All I had was a receipt for the $20. No inspection paperwork AT ALL! I fixed both and brought the car back 5/11/26, 2 weeks later, for reinspection and a front end alignment (alignment is necesary after replacing a tie rod and I replaced all 4 of them). They called me and said I needed to pay another $20 for inspection because the mechanic never inspected the car on 4/27. I asked why since I was charged $20and had a receipt saying "safety inspection," and they said "because there was an open inspection within 30 days and they could not open a new inspection." That was a lie. The car had ben sitting 3 months because of the snow. I made it very clear I DESPERATELY needed a safety inspection and will pay whatever fee. I can't drive the car until I get a normal title which requires a safety inspection first! This IS A DIRE NEED! I Hung up the phone, and went there and spoke to the manager. I showed him the paper work from the January inspection and asked why I was charged $20 for a "non-inspection" on 4/27. The manager changed the story. He said because it had been 15 days, I had to pay $20. It's only $1 if you're there within 14 days. That was also a lie. The law is actually 15 days. Look it up- THEY LIED AGAIN! I vehemently pleaded for a safety inspection because I need it to get a regular, non-salvage title. I asked the manager if the car had been inspected yet because I want to charge the freon if it passes, but only if it passes because I will have to take it apart if it doesn't pass. The manager said I should request that after the inspection. I agreed and left. When I went to pick the car up three hours later, I was told THEY DIDN'T INSPECT THE CAR!!! I asked why- they said they were not sure I wanted to pay $20. Tyhe only reason I took the car there was for safety inspection. I vehemently pleaded to have the car inspected because I need the inspection to obtain a regular title so I can drive the car. I asked if I can leave the car overnight and get it inspected tomorrow. The clerk went to the inspector and asked if they can do the inspection. The clerk said The State Inpsector said, "No- the car will fail for the headlight not being lined up properly." That sinpector's name is Unfortunately, I had nothing showing the car failed this time. I only their word of mouth which they can easily deny that it happened. Basically- the inspector was refusing to inspect the car for god knows what reason. I took the car elsewhere and it passed with flying colors. I'll be filing a complaint with the state inspection board over this. THIS PLACE IT HORRIBLE! Please have a look at the pictures I posted and ask yourself what is wrong with the passenger headlight that is a safety issue? This place is NOT HONEST and the state inspector in the first bay has a chip on his shoulder. If you take your car here, look at the man in the first bay closest to the front desk. He has a chip on his shoulder. He hates you!

I'm not sure who the old guy that Everyone complains about in the comments name is, that alone says a lot, but he seems to run the shop. I was extremely agitated with my visit here for multiple reasons that I will try to summarize. I walk in as I need a tire replaced and a "free" diagnostic as advertised. The 'free' diagnostic is apparently not free but costs a whopping $130! Apparently they can run the code for 'free' but they can't interpret it without $130. I say okay give me the free code, but don't interpret the diagnostic if it costs that much. I leave my car because it needs to stay overnight. This was unclear as they only asked if I was dropping off and picking back up. But fine, not an issue. By evening, I receive a quote for $850 because in addition to 1 tire, I need to replace another tire, balancing and alignment, replace an air filter and a manifold pressure sensor because they interpreted the diagnostic anyway of course. Okay. I return the next day for pick up and my quote is now $1000. The old guy swears up and down that he told me this on the phone. He was getting frustrated, raising his voice at me. I asked them to remove the tire alignment and air filter which they did to bring my price back down to the original quote. They gave me the actual diagnostic for 'Free'. I actually have a preferred mechanic that works on my car and thought this would be a simple tire replacement. So I stressed that I did not ask for any service other than the replacement of two tires and the manifold pressure sensor was not something that I came in for but they had already put it on, so I paid for it. He tells me I can collect my car at 2 PM same day when I had to come back and give them my wheel lock that he did not check for the day before when it was dropped off. I leave at 12:20 and by 12:40, he calls and says my car is ready. I asked why did he tell me I can come back at 2 PM if I could've just waited there for 20 more minutes and he says he put the car on rush but I already left. Communication is terrible. They need to send people exact quotes in writing, exact services that will be performed in writing, because relying on verbal confirmation for every thing and then arguing over what he thinks he said vs what I heard is insane. I don't recommend unless you walk with a pen and a paper and write down everything he says as he says it. I'm not coming back.
