I really enjoy this place for their breakfast woodsman deal that they have. Their breakfast bagels are always very satisfying and I like the variety they have, and especially that they have impossible sausage. They used to make this vegetarian rueben bagel sammy that I loved but don't anymore. I do like the vibes of this place, its like industrial organic rustic?? The staff are not always the most cheerful, and my only 3 star vs 4 star rating is because the bagels are on the smaller size and I don't like that they haven't really tinkered with their menu after all these years. As far as bagels go, these were pretty below average and it hurts to say so because we were so excited and remember them being good 3 years ago. We both got everything bagels and they were pretty flavorless even with the large amount of seeds. Both the egg and ham in my bagel were very flavorless as well, and the cream cheese on my friends was also pretty bland. Aside from the bagels the breakfast potatoes were very good though and the service was fast and nice. The ambiance and vibe are great too and perfect for an instagram story, but maybe try a breakfast burrito or sandwich instead. read more

This is disappointing and not even worth eating. I ordered a toasted GF bagel with peanut butter and jam. I get a cold, dry bagel with maybe a teaspoon of peanut butter on one half and jam on the other. I don't even get the butter I requested. And I have to assume this is one of the simpler orders. As a preface: I'm a bit of a bagel snob. The vibe here is awesome!! They have a big open patio with exposed wood. They have a lot of coffee options (even coffee+bagel specials). This would be a perfect spot to grab coffee with someone or work on your own. As far as the bagel goes, the appearance looks very good but the taste is sub-par. The schmear is also surprisingly not very flavorful (I got plain). I haven't been in for awhile and was really disappointed when I recently visited. I love love love the earth skillet with tofu and a gf bagel. I arrived at 12:45pm on a Thursday and they were already out of gf bagels. and then the skillet arrived and the tofu is now heavily seasoned (not good flavor and very overpowering) in huge cubes not as a scramble, as it used to be. I'm not sure why this change occurred but my vote is to go back to what was so amazing before. read more

Service: Staff were incredibly kind and even brought us our to-go order while we were waiting outside with the dog. The Review: A humble bagel cafe, WoodGrain Bagels exceeded expectations. I was drawn here for their gluten-free options, which ended up being very tasty. Although it was a more crumbly texture, it still had the delicious experience of a bagel and really seemed to be homemade. The egg was done very nicely and the cheese was perfectly melted. Of note, THE HOMEFRIES were so crispy and amazing. Really the best I've ever had. I ordered the PSL with skim milk and half the amount of sugar -- it was delicious. My husband and I shared: - Brooklyn Classic - Smoking Gun - Raspberry Spicy Chai The Brooklyn Classic was my favorite, though I do wish it were served as a sandwich instead of open face. The Smoking Gun had potential, but it was a bit dry. The spicy chai was spicy as advertised which I appreciated. You usually can't find chai like that unless you go to an Indian restaurant. Ordered the continental skillet with scrambled eggs, home fries and an everything bagel with cream cheese. The cost was $15.95. The potatoes were not fresh at all and they were not very crispy. The dining hall homefries at the CU Boulder dining hall are better. Eggs were fairly standard. I was very disappointed in the everything bagel. While it was of course better than any store bought bagel, it wasn't any where close to my expectations. Coming from the New England I have high standards for bagels and considering the price I was extremely disappointed. The bagel was dry and tough. The cream cheese didn't spread well. Overall extremely dissatisfied with this place. It had a nice ambiance and the staff were fine, but the food is just not worth the price IMO. read more

Woodgrain Bagels has 2 locations on the Anschutz Medical Campus. Because its convenient for students and faculty, it is heavily utilized. The staff are kind and friendly. It is unfortunate, however that the prices have gone up to be unreasonably high for simple foods & drinks. They do offer a rewards program, but this isn't always functioning so sometimes you don't get credit for your purchase to offset the high cost of the orders you place. This is the perfect place for a vegan breakfast in Boulder. There were many options for me which was fantastic and inclusive. The staff serves fast friendly service and communicates clearly. The vibe is comfy and cozy. It's the perfect intimate little bagel shop and I really enjoyed that. It definitely became busy the longer we were there but we were able to have a table. The oat milk matcha was very refreshing and sweet. The vegan burrito was savory, filling, and just down right delectable. The soy chorizo tasted like soy curls and the seasoning was perfect. This is my top vegan burrito in Colorado so far. The size was great and the avocado was fresh. The only downside was that the burrito fell apart after a couple bites but that did not effect how much I enjoyed my meal! I would come here all the time if I lived in Boulder. read more

Others in my party got the breakfast sandwich which they say is consistently good. The matcha latte is very good, however, the iced mocha latte is "mid". Regular coffee is average. Woodgrain serves Montreal style bagels and they are delicious! The bagel selection isn't huge, but they make up for it in taste and flavor. All the sandwiches are great and here are the ones we have tried. 1. Brooklyn (Lox with all the toppings)- i love the raw onion and the capers are absolutely perfection. The cream cheese is definitely light on this bagel, which compliments it! This is served open faced. 2. Lox and Loaded: this one is just lox and cream cheese. This is my go-to and it is filling. The amount of lox is great, however sometimes this does come with too much cream cheese. I just scrape it off generally. 3. Chicken Bagel: the chicken is delicious, however I do believe it is entirely messy and hard not to make a mess. The only wish for this option is that it came with a spicy option. It would honestly be a nice compliment to the other toppings in this sandwich. 4. The Mile High Rueben; this sandwich is piled high; and worth every penny. I do believe it is the most expensive sandwich, but it is so good- and could possibly create two meals! The pastrami is the perfect salty compliment, and any bagel works! 5. Avocado Toast (Classic) my husband hates eggs and opted for cream cheese instead of eggs and oh my; that black lava salt is like the cherry on top! Absolutely a must try! All the bagels are great; my favorite is the Sesame! however whenever I get a sandwich I generally opt for onion and 3/4 times it is burnt; and I mean the gross tasting burnt, but with all the sandwich toppings it generally hides pretty well. The cream cheese selection isn't huge, but all are pretty scrumptious. HOWEVER! warning- the smoked maple; absolutely horrendous- it tastes like you are eating wood. Do not try! Since I'm not from Boulder, I'm not sure if I can say this is a hidden gem but for me it was and the breakfast sandwich I picked up was exactly what I was looking for on my early morning walk. Both orders came with lots of breakfast potatoes so the meals felt like a great value. We also got the chaggacino which is a mushroom late with a shot of espresso that was pretty good. It might be snowing now, but we were exposed to sunny skies and 70 degree weather as February dawned upon us. After a strenuous early morning hike, we found Woodgrain Bagels on Yelp in hopes of curing our caffeine and breakfast fix. TLDR: our hankerings were, indeed, cured! I never knew Montreal-style bagels were something I needed in my life, but you can say I'm a newfound fan. Bagel sandwiches are one of my go-to's and in my opinion, it's tough to beat a NY-style bagel. However, the Montreal-style, a thinner, crispier version, is something I enjoyed. Bacon, Egg & Cheese on Everything. The utilization of Tender Belly Bacon is a surefire homerun. The egg was hearty and the cheese had that sticky processed feel to glue it all together. Very good sandwich. I appreciate the breakfast potatoes that accompanied the sammie, though these were lacking in seasoning. The iced Americano with locally-roasted Boxcar Coffee was quite delicious, especially on a warm winter day. Mad props to the servers and staff for hustling throughout the shift! read more

Came here for the first time and while the place looks nice and the staff were friendly the gluten-free bagels + a couple other things made this a very disappointing experience. I got a gluten-free everything bagel with vegan cream cheese and lox. The gf bagels are comically tiny, like toy bagels - see my pic! And the texture of it was dense & crumbly/chalky with a flavor of uncooked dough. It was so unpleasant I couldn't finish the bagel part of my sandwich even with how small it was lol. Not only that but it was an extra $1.50 for a gf bagel! The everything bagel seasoning was also super salty. All in all the sandwich tasted bad and my stomach hurt after eating it. If you want to have a passably good gf bagel with non-dairy cream cheese, go to Moe's Broadway Bagel. The only reason why I went here was because Moe's was closed for the day. I'm from NY and good bagels are my birthright lol BUT after I went gf my standards for bagels have come way down and all I ever look for these days is a passable bagel experience just because I miss eating bagels in general. And this wasn't even that. Also, strangely there weren't any prices on the bagel menu board (leftmost menu) for how much cream cheese and the other add-ons were. I got a normal bagel with cream cheese + another add-on for my bf but I had no idea how much it was going to cost, which seems like bad business practice. Lastly, there is a small sign by the cash register that says there is a 6.5% additional service charge because of supply chain issues etc. I understand that it's really hard for businesses right now and I have a lot of sympathy for all businesses especially small businesses and I'm trying to support as many local Boulder businesses I can during the pandemic but the way this service charge is done feels very sneaky and could've been handled more transparently or upfront. Why not just raise your prices? Or make a note of it on the menu itself and not just when people are done ordering and going to pay. I do feel bad about giving Woodgrain such a bad review because I know everyone is struggling right now but the whole experience was really unpleasant and I'm hoping to spare some gf eaters the same experience. read more
