Hi folks, I'm Trevor Thompson, I live in Farmington Hills, Michigan. I have been covering the Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, Lions and every other sport that moves, for Fox Sports Detroit, (now Bally Sports) for the past 21 years. Those of you who know me from my work there, or who follow me on my social media platforms, know that I am a very chill, laid-back, easy-going, fun-loving, kind of guy. For those of you who don't know or follow me, I'm a very chill, laid-back, easy-going, fun-loving kind of guy - until I'm not. And after dealing with Dave, at Great Lakes Auto Superstore, I am anything but chill! I am disturbed and deeply disappointed to the point where I feel I need to share my experience with all of you in the hopes that you can avoid the pitfalls of this place. And this really isn't even about me. It's about the experience my wife and I had trying to buy a car for our son. We made this mistake of trusting, Dave, and taking him at his word. That's when we found he is the embodiment of that prototypical, shady, deceitful, "used car salesman" on that lot we all dread coming across. I'll save you the blow by blow details of the 2 month period of back and forth we had trying to the right the wrongs this man's deceitfulness took us through and simply tell you what I told him in our last phone conversation: "I do not trust," him. He, "flat out lied to our faces several times on several issues relating to the purchase and service of the vehicle" we bought from him. In trying to find a replacement vehicle for the defective merchandise he sold us, "we took SEVERAL OTHER CARS to our mechanic to be look over, and every single one of them had SIGNIFICANT, AND COSTLY issues that he easily spotted." I took us 2 months to find a car that was actually worth exchanging for the original piece of junk we were sold. I told him, and I'm tell you, Dave "does not sell quality products at Great Lakes Auto Superstore, and it is a crying shame that you can spend $10 - $15,000 or more on a car off that lot, and the first thing you have to do once you leave the lot, is drive straight to your mechanic to get it fixed!" I've been doing business in this community for the past 20 years, and this is the single worst dealing / experience I've come across in all that time. In fact, this is the first review of this kind I've ever written... I'm a pretty chill guy. But if you're looking for a used car, or know anyone who is, feel free to shop wherever you like, but if you're dealing with Dave, or Great Lakes Auto Superstore, consider this a public service announcement from your friendly neighborhood sportscaster... PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND YOUR SANITY, DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!!!!! I AM WRITING THIS REVIEW BECAUSE, AT THIS POINT, I HAVE NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO LET YOU ALL KNOW WHAT KIND OF TRASH THESE PEOPLE ARE. THEY ARE DISHONEST AND FRAUDULENT AND WILL DENY THAT THEY HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANY ISSUES THAT ARISE AFTER YOU DRIVE OFF THEIR LOT!! I have paid Dave and his wife, Dawn, over $8,000 for this junkyard job. All of the parts on my car were supposed to be replaced with NEW parts and the car was supposed to be in the same condition it was in before the accident that took place on September 22, 2021. Not only did I not get my car back until November, after having to pay $1800 for a rental because they took so long to complete the job, I ended up back at the shop because the work was not completed. The FIRST time I dropped it off, there was tar on the front passenger side door that was obviously a mistake that hadn't been cleaned up. When I mentioned this to Dave he said that he didn't know how the tar got there and that the front passenger door was not touched. He agreed to remove the tar and I was grateful. Additionally, there had been yellow glue on the roof of the car near the back glass as well as on the decals. When I pointed this out, he told me it was tree sap and that I must have parked under a tree but that he would remove it -- as if he was doing me a favor. I hadn't driven anywhere but home and there are no trees over my driveway and, SURPRISE, as you would imagine, there are NO TREES IN MY GARAGE, so it beats me. The back glass was originally placed improperly and I was informed it would be reset. Additionally, there was white residue all over the inside of my car that you could see from outside of the back glass by the break light. He tried to remove it, however, the job was not clean. The speakers rattled regularly while I had the car the first time around and when I brought it up to him he once again said his favorite words, "I didn't touch the [speakers]." Lastly (for this first experience), I HAVE THE WRONG BUMPER ON MY CAR!!!!! SECOND TIME AROUND!!! The seal on the back glass is not attached -- it is a one finger removal all the way across the bottom. The seal is buckled and coming out all around the glass as you can see in the photos, which lucky for me, means it rains into my car. As you can see on the right side (where the trunk lid meets the trunk), there is a bondo job AND a halfway bondo job that has been painted over. I imagine that because of the way this was "fixed" there is and has been a loud squealing sound inside go the car coming from that area of the car. You can see more bondo paint just beside rear light -- unlike the other side where there are clean seems with actual rivets (the side that was not touched and seems to be in its original condition). THE PAINT on the passenger side of the car is THREE DIFFERENT shades of white. The bumper on the right side is not affixed -- it is sunken in in various areas and popped out in others. On the left side, the bumper sinks in on one side and pops out on another. So, either the bumper is not the correct bumper, or the panel is not the correct panel. THE TRUNK LID: The entire right and left side been shaved off, sanded down, bondoed and then repainted. The edges are not smooth and there is are uneven gaps on each side once the lid is closed. The right side on the trunk lid dips and the left side is raised. There are paint smears and runs ALL over the trunk lid. You can see in one area a spot where they sanded it and didn't paint it -- you are looking at primed metal underneath -- they did a "buff and polish" or "refinish" and obviously missed a spot. I want to NOTE here that the stated to me that he "DID NOT touch the truck lid" and that it was not part of the claim. 1. Why lie and say you did not touch it when it's clearly been damaged? 2. Why did you touch it if it wasn't in the claim? These are not questions for the "dealership/bodyshop"! GAS CAP: When I picked up the car the first time around, I asked him why there was no fuel tank holder -- I hadn't noticed it had been painted white. Instead of replacing it with a new black one (because that is the color they come in), he said my model car does not come with a fuel tank holder. As it turns out, it has been confined that he painted it white. Additionally, you can see that the gas cap is been HOT GLUED to the gas locker hatch! HOT GLUED! DECALS: The letters aren't even remotely straight and the is glue EVERYWHERE between the letters. See photo. THIS IS ALL JUST THE SUPERFICIAL STUFF, I HAVE NO IDEA BEYOND THE WHEEL THAT STILL HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED (which I was notified of in DECEMBER!!) THE OTHER DAMAGES ARE BENEATH THE SURFACE. As mentioned above: I have been driving on a bad wheel that was supposed to be replaced months ago. It is now February 25, 2022, and I still have not been able to get Dave and Dawn to fix any of the issues. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER BUYING A VEHICLE!!!! These people should be put out of business. Dishonest, rude, scammers...Turns out they sold me a vehicle that needs a new transmission. They are unwilling to do anything about it...just a complete run around with excuse after excuse. I'm currently borrowing a friends' vehicle because I cannot drive my brand new car!! Nor do I have 4K to fix it. I told them just fix it and I will take down the bad reviews...nope, they don't give a crap. read more

Well it doesn't look like I am the first to have a bad experience with this dealership. I transported a Polaris Slingshot from Atlanta to the dealership is Pontiac back in May. I have reached out countless times in regards to collecting payment for the transport services provided. Dale has assured me that a payment was in the mail however here we are in November and we still haven't received payment. I even agreed to waive the late fees for a payment that was due in June... read more

This deal ship had A really good deal on a 2009 Ford fusion manual when I got to the dealership to pay and pick up the car they raise the price by $600 and I was told that that was fees license plate and all that other stuff but I had a time I was told is the price we raised from 2500 to 3000 because of the fees so what extra fees are added on and on top of that I take the car home about 2 3 weeks later the heat doesn't work and on top of all that the person that owns the dealership the person I made the deal with is my uncle and he screwed me in the car and on top of that the car is not in that great of shape it's not even worth $3600 read more

Horrible!! Found a car I wanted, put a deposit down to hold and they sold it out from under me. Then asked for my money back and they keep saying they refunded it but, it hasn't showed up. Definitely not trustworthy or honest. read more

Tom was great in helping us find a car. We got sent next door to do the paperwork. It was quick and easy. When we left I noticed a sticker saying it had a "point by point inspection". I don't think so at all because when we left the car shut off. The lights are burnt out, the window washers don't spray. Dave kept telling us this is an amazing car. "Very up kept". I called them after the car shut off and spun us off the road and he said bring it in and we'll address the problems and do another point by point inspection. I brought it in and he calls me 2 hours later saying the car is ready for pick up. I go to pick up the car and the first thing he says to me is keys for the loaner. I asked to see the point by point inspection and Dave told me "it's internal and only we can see it. We are certified" *points to papers on walls* and provided me with a blank copy of what it consists of. Not actually what was checked on my car. Needles to say. The headlights don't match. The car keeps shutting off and etc all my problems are still there. I will leave another review dependent on what happens from here. read more

Not trustworthy and unprofessional. These people gave us a quote on a used car of $2500. We put a hold deposit on it and asked if we could have a mechanic look it over and call us. They told us the mechanic they normally use, and we took it there since ours was an hour away. He said he would call us later in the day. We didn't hear anything from either until the following Wednesday, after leaving several messages. The price of the car increased by $1100 to $3600. The sales associate told my son the reason for this was a processing fee, a mechanic inspection fee, and cost of the repair they did. The mechanic also called my son and told him they figured out the door windows, and it was a "quick fix" and he replaced a relay switch. I called the sales associate to hear her reasoning why the price of the car was increased. She said the mechanic replaced a motor for the power windows. I asked, " in each door?" Knowing that she was incorrect. She again reiterated that there was a processing fee and inspection fee. Both we were not told of on Friday. I called the mechanic to speak to him myself. He (Chuck) of course was not there. The person answering the phone, Anthony, said he didn't know anything about what was done. I asked if Chuck could call me when he returned. Then I got another call from the sales associate, Aerion Flowers, who yelled at me for calling HER mechanic. Said I " reamed him up and down" about why a repair was done to the car. She said I was not being charged for the repair, they were. (But they were in turn charging me through the price increase), and that the price of the car was $3,000 because they did not have possession of the title, plus $300 for the "window motor" repair, plus the $300 inspection fee, and processing fees. I said , "Ok, thank you." and hung up. I wrote a review on their Facebook page, and the owner Dale replied they "never increase the price of a car after a hold deposit has been placed, and they never charge an inspection fee or a processing fee." Which, clearly, is not true. In my case Aerion did both. In addition to yelling at me on the phone completely unprovoked. Stating something does not make it true, Dale, and a relay switch does not cost $300. I call BS on your entire business practice and your sales associate. I would not trust these people or anything they say. The story kept changing from conversation to conversation. And they took from Friday until Wednesday to answer our calls. read more
