When I have a gathering at a home to attend in the area, this is my go to place to pick up some lumpia shanghai, officially on their menu as pork egg rolls (25 pieces for $10.95). Oh my goodness, last time I came here was such different experience. We entered the establishment and the lady behind the counter kept her back to us and was scrolling through social media. After 3 minutes, she finally turned around and acknowledged us and acted like she was annoyed we even came in to give them business. She was unfriendly and was so skimpy on the portions. Mind you, it looked like the food had been sitting out for so long. There was only one family eating there and us, we took our food to go. The place and ambiance was so depressing and the experience and food was suboptimal. There is Pacific Island Grill that's a 5 minute walk from this place. The lady was not friendly - not rude, but no hello or smile. I asked for 2 combos. One of the side was chicken wings and she only game us 2 pieces. The portion was very small, smaller than any Filipino turo turo place. We took it home but when we tasted it, it was just okay. The wings were dry, the meat for the beef caldera was tough, and the dinugoan was okay. The best part of the combo was the rice, which is sad. Ordered the orange chicken, beef and broccoli, lumpia and adobo. The adobo was super dry and the soup was 100% oil. I had to pour it out Bc it was such a turn off. The beef and Broccoli was sort of good but the broccoli was smushy which leads me to wonder how long it had been under the heat lamp. The lumpia wasn't actually bad. Had a nice crisp. Sauce was good. I have to admit, it is pretty pricey on the food. They need to bring the prices down because they give you such small portions. Panda Express gives way more portions and they charge less. Love the Steamed White Rice (1 order) and ordered the Chicken Barbecue (10 Sticks) Pretty good. Also ordered Great Panda 2 Entree Combo . Came with rice but like i said the 2 entrees were small portions. I also asked for chow mein but gave me rice instead. My aunt ordered a lechon for her birthday, and we were told they'd have to cut it in half to fit it in their oven. It seemed like an odd way to cook a lechon, but we went with it. What wasn't acceptable was being served a burnt lechon that cost over $400. To make matters worse, the restaurant blamed us for it being burnt because we picked it up 20 minutes late. They left it inside the oven??? And they left the oven on??? The customer service was terrible, and the lechon was even worse--completely dry and bland. A very nice couple recommended Great Panda to us while we were in queue at a supermarket cashier. The couple said Great Panda has the best (kambing) "Kaldereta" (braised goat meat in tomato sauce) and "Papaitan" (goat meat in ginger-braised bitter-gull soup). Recommendation is to call Great Panda one day in advance to order either or both kaldereta/papaitan. We called it in. The next day we picked it up. Our review: Kaldereta - to die for, BEST one my family ever had! The goat meat does not have the gamey after-taste, which is typical in any goat dish. The meat is fork-tender, the sauce is great with a little touch of heat. Papaitan - interestingly, the signature "bitterness" of this Filipino delicacy is absent from Great Panda's Papaitan menu item. The meat is tender, complete with the skin, fat and ingredients of the authentic dish. No gamey after-taste, ginger flavor neutralizes any funky smell or taste. There is mild heat in the soup. We also ordered dine-in combo meals for lunch: Pork Sisig, Pork Nilaga, and Lechon Kawali. To sum it all up, we went home very satisfied. All items tasted like it was just freshly-cooked. I want to thank the couple who recommended this humble, tiny hole-on-the-wall restaurant. Great Panda is located next to the Duke's Broiler, behind Bank of America and The Coffee Bean shop visible from Ynez Road and Margarita Road. The restaurant has a small sign, covered by the tree so it is easy to miss it. The actual location is on Margarita Road, just before the carwash and Island Pacific Market. This restaurant is worth your visit, and hopefully the community's long term business. I wouldn't mind patronizing Great Panda for our daily Filipino food cravings even if I drive 10 miles out, that's how good they are. Congratulations to the owners, chef, and staff of Great Panda! This place is located just down the street where I live and never knew it was a Filipino restaurant until a friend told me. The name threw me off because it's called Great Panda, normally any place with panda is associated with being a Chinese restaurant. The people are nice and the food here is not bad as well. It's a very small restaurant more like a turo-turo style and have a small dine in area as well. It is kinda nice to have a Filipino place to run to when you have a sudden craving for it and it's just down the street from your home. The owner is nice and friendly as well. read more

Crispy pata - yummy but maybe presentation can be better. Tortang talong and fried pompano- both good. Palabok - I like it! Tasty and has good ingredients. Korean beef ribs- this is tasty but the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because there's a bit of too cooked / some burnt ones. Overall I really enjoyed the food. First of all I love Filipino food. The food here is mediocre. Secondly the service here sucks,it needs immediate attention. The time my wife and I came in here, there was no one in the front. They were in the back eating their lunch. They told us to ring the bell. When my wife rang the bell,this woman answered very rudely "can't you see I'm washing my hands!". My wife and I didn't want to bother arguing back. It just a waste of time with these people/business. So we just told them it's ok we'll just go eat somewhere else. I just hope they got the message. Nasty. Thought this place was a Chinese Fast food place. I wanted to get teriyaki chicken. As soon as I walked in and saw the food, I knew this was no chinese place. Oh they had teriyake chicken, but it was dried up and soaked in the teriyaki sauce. I immediately wanted to leave, but felt weird because I was the only person there and the lady was staring at me. They had orange chicken which looked okay, but I can't have spicy stuff for the kids so I opted for the gross looking teriyaki chicken. $3.50 for a serving of it. Cheap, but still not worth the nastiness. Everything else looked so questionable. Oh man, I think this place was a filipino place. Oriental cuisine my butt! I don't know filipino food all that well even though my husband is filipino, but this stuff looked straight up nasty. I think unless you came from the phillipines, you would not want to touch this stuff or even look at it. Okay the egg rolls/lumpia stuff looked okay, but I didn't get any. I went home, my son who wants to drink soy sauce told me the chicken was too salty. I tried it before I gave it to him and it was edible, but the chicken was dried out and absorbed a lot of the sauce into the meat. I think it was there in the heater since it opened that day. And I got there at 6:00pm. I've never been so horrified in my life. I will absolutely never come here ever again. Never ever never never never. Ack! I have been to this establishment twice. The first time we encountered a a pleasant older lady and we ordered turon. We were excited because we found out it wasn't a Chinese fast food place, but a Filipino fast food place - a rarity. The second time we went there it was a different lady and she was full of attitude. She greeted us with a blank stare and by saying "Yeah?" (as in yeah, what do you want). The food was either too dry or too oily. A little pricey IMO. No fountain soda and CASH OR CHECK ONLY. That is important to know. They don't put placecards by the food to let you know what it is.
