    Pork Sisig

Been wanting to try this place out because it's a Filipino Chinese fusion restaurant. I was looking for some good beef steak, but when I arrived today for the first time I noticed there were no options to pick from. I don't know if they were sold out & not making more or they just don't have a wide selection of dishes to choose from. The food was just okay. If you're really hungry it's decent, otherwise I'd recommend you pass on this place.

Oil I poured out from the adobo.
    Kristi C.

Ordered the orange chicken, beef and broccoli, lumpia and adobo. The adobo was super dry and the soup was 100% oil. I had to pour it out Bc it was such a turn off. The beef and Broccoli was sort of good but the broccoli was smushy which leads me to wonder how long it had been under the heat lamp. The lumpia wasn't actually bad. Had a nice crisp. Sauce was good. Orange chicken wasn't half bad either. But the main turn off was the oil from the adobo.

    Burnt lechon

My aunt ordered a lechon for her birthday, and we were told they'd have to cut it in half to fit it in their oven. It seemed like an odd way to cook a lechon, but we went with it. What wasn't acceptable was being served a burnt lechon that cost over $400. To make matters worse, the restaurant blamed us for it being burnt because we picked it up 20 minutes late. They left it inside the oven??? And they left the oven on??? The customer service was terrible, and the lechon was even worse--completely dry and bland. None of us could eat it, so my aunt had to turn it into paksiw just so we could salvage it.

(front) "Pork Tocino", (middle) "Pork Afritada" (braised pork in tomato sauce), (rear) "Pork Menudo" (almost similar to afritada).

A very nice couple recommended Great Panda to us while we were in queue at a supermarket cashier. The couple said Great Panda has the best (kambing) "Kaldereta" (braised goat meat in tomato sauce) and "Papaitan" (goat meat in ginger-braised bitter-gull soup). Recommendation is to call Great Panda one day in advance to order either or both kaldereta/papaitan. We called it in. The next day we picked it up. Our review: Kaldereta - to die for, BEST one my family ever had! The goat meat does not have the gamey after-taste, which is typical in any goat dish. The meat is fork-tender, the sauce is great with a little touch of heat. Papaitan - interestingly, the signature "bitterness" of this Filipino delicacy is absent from Great Panda's Papaitan menu item. The meat is tender, complete with the skin, fat and ingredients of the authentic dish. No gamey after-taste, ginger flavor neutralizes any funky smell or taste. There is mild heat in the soup. We also ordered dine-in combo meals for lunch: Pork Sisig, Pork Nilaga, and Lechon Kawali. To sum it all up, we went home very satisfied. All items tasted like it was just freshly-cooked. I want to thank the couple who recommended this humble, tiny hole-on-the-wall restaurant. Great Panda is located next to the Duke's Broiler, behind Bank of America and The Coffee Bean shop visible from Ynez Road and Margarita Road. The restaurant has a small sign, covered by the tree so it is easy to miss it. The actual location is on Margarita Road, just before the carwash and Island Pacific Market. This restaurant is worth your visit, and hopefully the community's long term business. I wouldn't mind patronizing Great Panda for our daily Filipino food cravings even if I drive 10 miles out, that's how good they are. Congratulations to the owners, chef, and staff of Great Panda! We pray for you to flourish because we love eating quality food like yours!

Fried chicken wings party tray!!! It's NOT salt n pepper chicken wings, but it's pretty good!! Try it!!

Marketed as chinese, it's really a filipino restaurant... may be a bit misleading. This is the longest running filipino restaurant in the temecula valley, they've been open for over 20 years!! I like their party tray of chicken wings, pretty good!! Check out my chocken wings party tray!!

The fruits and veggies are often spoiled, old, and look compromised. Also, its very expensive here. They sometimes have sales on shrimp but that's all really. I come here to buy packaged things like dry noodles or bottled ingredients. I buy here as a last resort. My greatest peeve about this place is the entrance. You have to walk through the check out line to go into the store. Or you can walk pass or through tables of people eating their disgusting food from Phil house. This place is grossly inefficient in floor layout. Of all grocery stores, this by far is the worst.

I appreciate the woman working there letting me what dishes didn't have pork, which I don't consume. This is a super casual hole-in-wall establishment. The food isn't spectacular, but it's satisfying comfort food. I'd say the chicken adobo was well made and flavorful. The beef mechado was okay. I also enjoyed the fried eggplants, fried tuyo (salted dried fish), champorado, and ginataan dessert Again, I come here for the Sunday brunch buffet with friends/family members who crave a variety of affordable Filipino home style cooking in one sitting.

But do yourself a favor and skip the cute claw machines in front. Such a scam. The claws don't grasp anything. You could have it entirely over the prize and there is still no way it will have the strength to grab it and hold it. Such a frustrating scam. No wonder why no one was playing them. I also put $10 into the machine for the tokens so if I had known that before doing so, or only after sacrificing $1 vs $10, it wouldn't have been as bad. But alas, I lost $10 because l had no idea. It wasn't one single machine either. I gave my kids most of the coins and helped them but it was clearly set on ALL the machines to not let anyone win. Whoever owns these machines should have their business taken from them. It's false advertising. I say this as someone who wins at these machines all the time but if the claw has no strength, you'll lose EVERY time. That's the situation here. Avoid the machines. I wish l could give the store a higher rating but they allow whoever owns the claw machines to swindle people out of their money--not cool.
