Chowmein was plain lacking flavor and veggies, a little bit on the soggy end, the orange chicken more orange than chicken mostly batter minus the crispy ness. My girlfriend and I eat here every once in a while since it's local and we like to support mom & pop type of places rather than chain. But today we had an absolutely disgusting experience. We got home after a long day of work and cracked open the cheese won-tons and ate a few and uncovered an earwig pincher bug inside. We had already eaten 3. We were absolutely disgusted. We actually took a photo before we ate (we do this everywhere we eat, we are foodies and post our food on our social media stories) and after examining it again now..... YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE BUG! It's sticking out of a won-ton! We didn't notice it at this point. We noticed it after eating a few of them. It must have fallen from that wonton after we ate a few which is why in the 2nd photo you can see it on the bottom of the container. Absolutely disgusting. The fact that the cooks didn't notice upon packing it is concerning. Went back for a refund and owner wasn't really super apologetic. Didn't seem concerned at all that a bug was found in their food and that we ate some of it. He gave me a refund of what I paid (and wasn't even the right amount, since I initially included a tip.) and had to ask him for more money to cover the tip I initially left. My girlfriend filed a complaint with the health department after the experience. read more

I mean it's everything's just cornstarch and sweetener.... They don't care about how their food tastes and they even change the names from authentic Chinese food to what they think it should be called.... I don't like their food at all at Cathay. The food here is fantastic! My mom ordered food for my grandpa's birthday party. My mom is fairly new to the area and was so happy that there is a great mom and pop Chinese food place near by. Everything was fresh and delicious. The broccoli beef was my absolute favorite. My husband really enjoyed the Chow mein. The chicken options were also very tasty. Fast service, but only because this place was dead empty. We LOVE the one in Menifee (Any relation?) but, recently stumbled across this one when dropping off at the postal store. The food definitely does not compare to the other location, sad to say. The orange chicken was decent, but half of it was just bitty pieces of breading like they scraped the bottom of the barrel for the last scraps, the lo mein was bland, the beef broccoli tasted like straight up soy sauce, but the broccoli was good and not over cooked. The "hawaiian" chicken had a funky taste and I didn't like how the bbq pork aka charsiu had a sauce over it. All in all, the food was meh, won't go out of our way to eat here again and probably not even if we were in the area. Give this place a try. I think the food is pretty solid! I usually order a là carte, so the food is made fresh. The lo mein is pretty average, but the meats! Beijing beef is my current favorite. Spicy garlic chicken is also delicious. Any of the shrimp dishes are flavorful. It seems to be run by a family, they are all very kind and friendly. Great service. I'm so happy to have found our new place! It doesn't look like much from the outside. I almost second guessed going, but once you are inside it's so nice! The people are in work mode there but they did take a moment to be sweet to my younger child. I tried the garlic chicken and it was honestly craveable! My daughter had the BBQ pork and loved it. We both had their bowls and they were large in size! Their white rice and fried rice tasted fresh too! We absolutely loved their almond cookies and jello too! It is Monday morning and we had this to eat Saturday night. Walked in around 8pm on Saturday 10/5 and the food was still hot and fresh. Ordered the family feast which easily fed 4 people and still had leftovers. 30 bucks or so and you get 2 sides (I got lo mein and fried rice) and 3 entrees (I got 2 orange chicken and 1 Hawaiian chicken). Thinking about what it takes to run a Chinese food quick service restaurant in French, these guys have done a great job. The only thing I would change or could have been better was the lo mein. There is a lot of potential with those thick noodles, to me just felt like there wasn't enough sauce. Just needs to be adjusted a little. The orange chicken was excellent tho! Absolutely delicious! We just moved here and found this gem off Winchester. We arrived an hour before closing. I asked if they offered tofu since my mother is vegetarian, they offered me a menu and had the tofu and vegetable dish ready in 5 minutes! We ordered the tofu and veggie, my mother loved it! And we also ordered a family pack, fried rice, noodles, orange chicken , spicy chicken, beef and broccoli. All dishes were amazing! My 6 year old loves orange chicken, he would have finished the entire box if we didn't stop him :) we also ordered two orders of fried wontons! Those were delicious! We love wontons so this made our night. We had to try the spring rolls right? They were delicious as well! They had a new item, sesame seed balls...they are sweet like pancakes and covered in sesame seeds, were not bad at all.
