I should have paid attention to the reviews. I ordered General Tso's chicken - a pretty basic dish, right? I've had good and bad Gen Tso's and unfortunately this was the worst. Mostly breading or whatever they coat the chicken in, and that's if there really was chicken in the dish. If there was, it was extremely flat, almost paper thin. I paid a little extra for all white meat but who could tell. I honestly couldn't tell it was chicken at all. Fora minute I considered the idea that it was chicken skin, I just think it was paper-thin chicken. The "sauce" was super thick and "gloppy" if that's a word. And it did not have a good flavor. The rice was too sticky. The broccoli was good though. I hate to leave bad reviews. I really do. Usually I just don't go back and I keep my mouth shut. Please this really wasn't good. read more

I ordered Szechuan chicken. It was not at all spicy. I asked to have it made spicy and their solution was to bring me some chili oil. No thank you. It needed to be re-made in the kitchen. I love ordering Chinese from here. The food is always fresh and still hot by the time it arrives ! Our fav dishes are the sesame chicken (white meat ) with shrimp fried rice and the shrimp Lomein. To be fair, I visited on New Years Day, so I was pretty much the only person there but the service was great. I ordered the Sesame Chicken lunch special, which comes with your choice of fried or white rice and you can add an egg roll for only 75 cents. The chicken was delicious and they topped on plenty of sauce. The egg roll was a bit doughy, but overall one of the better ones I've had. No peppers, no crispy fried chicken, no spice. Just a random assortment of veggies and slimy slivers of chicken in a bland, indestinct gravy. The "fried rice" was just lumpy brown rice that tasted like it had been microwaved. My wife ordered the triple delight. Other than swapping the meat(s), and substituting the peanuts for broccoli, it was exactly the same dish as mine. We ordered Chicken Wings and got chicken pieces. We paid a total of $60.00 for our order. When the menu says chicken wings that is what we expect. Not cut up pieces! Before going vegan I used to frequent this restaurant very often! Actually started to preferring it to larger, more popular Chinese food establishments due to the good flavor, portion size, and convenience. (I only live about a 2 minute drive away!) Very rarely did I receive food that was not as ordered or food that was unsatisfactory. A few times I would get seafood mixed into my order improperly or would be given vegetable rolls instead of spring rolls, but I think that was more of a communication error. All my business has since been at other Chinese establishments due to their vegetarian and vegan offerings. Although I would be SO, so willing to return if a vegan orange chicken, chicken and broccoli, or vegan beef and broccoli (or spring roll without egg wash?? maybe a cold spring roll wrapped in rice paper??) would be offered! We placed a catering order for the teachers at BHES. The owner walked me through various options that would please a variety of tastes and portion sizes of dishes. The food was hot and fresh when we picked it up and made our car smell amazing. Ordered doordash for Father's Day. Sadly underwhelmed by dinner. We ordered chicken fried rice, pork lo mein, steamed dumplings, crab Rangoon, moo shu chicken, and hot and sour soup. The crab Rangoon were pretty decent and the moo shu chicken was good. Everything else was a let down. The dumpling dough was so thick it overpowered the stuffing and that's all I could taste. The soup was indeed hot but lacked sour and depth of flavor. The chicken fried rice made the kids happy but was just rice, onions, and grilled chicken; not much else. I grew up in Toronto with lots of Chinese food. It's definitely hard to find authentic Chinese food in the area, but Great Wall is a great place for some fast takeout. The day after New Years and no one wants to cook, this is where I found myself. One of the only places open and after a late night Chinese sounded like a 5 Star meal. Like most Chinese restaurants, the menu was endless. What made Great Wall stand our was their lunch specials! They provide a huge list of options for around $9-$10. I went with Lo Mein with chicken, and an egg roll on the side. My Lo Mein was easily two meals, and delicious. Plenty of chicken and the sauce was great. The egg rolls were fantastic, and I regretted only getting one after trying it. Perfectly crispy! It did take around 15 minutes to get our order, we took it to go, however we did arrive right when they opened. So there was a small delay being the first customers in. First and foremost, the service is always spot on. I've ordered carry out during the day, at night, weekdays and weekends, and also have gotten delivery, and everyone is always friendly. We order food here at least once a month and have been doing so for at least five years and I don't think they've ever messed up an order. Second, the food is good. My husband says the staff are really nice whenever he goes to pick up our order. I usually get the tofu dishes which are great and full of fresh veggies. My husband got the spicy baby shrimp which was very spicy (in a good way) and full of flavor. He also said the hunan pork was good. Flavorless mush--waste of money. My husband and I ordered delivery of steamed dumplings, beef and broccoli, and beef chow fun. It was awful and we ended up throwing most of the food away--eating only what we could stomach since we paid for it and had no food in the house. The dumplings were soggy and flavorless--even the soy sauce couldn't redeem them. The beef in both dishes was stringy and fatty, and steamed too much so it was mushy. And the chow fun noodles were so soggy and flavorless--it seemed like they had been soaked in tap water and were just about to turn into a liquid form. We hadn't ordered from there in years, but decided to give it another try. Now we remember why we stopped ordering from them in the first place. I have been going to this restaurant for many years now, and I have not once been disappointed. My favorite dish is General Tso's, which has nicely done pieces of chicken in a thick sauce. I've had it at other places where the sauce is thin and runny, but never here. Many other dishes over the years have fully satisfied, including beef with garlic sauce, sweet & sour chicken, hunan chicken, sesame chicken, peppered steak and others. I wanted this to be delicious because it is right in my new neighborhood but it was not good at all. We ordered crab rangoon , egg rolls and szechuan shrimp. The fried items seemed to be fried in oil that was not hot enough so they were a bit tough, although the flavors were not bad. The szechuan sauce was honestly terrible. I have ordered from here a few times and i just had to leave a review after this most recent experience. I am usually disappointed with frederick chinese food but their crispy beef is amazing and will last me about 3 servings. I have also gotten their fried rice which is pretty good and general tao chicken while my husband enjoys the beef chow fun. The delivery was estimated 50 minutes and came in 30 minutes. I used to drive 35 minutes to eldersburg to get my crispy beef fix but now i don't have to, they deliver!!!! read more

I ordered from this restaurant last night and went through quite the debacle. I've ordered from this company around 1x per week for the last six months and usually it's amazing. They've forgotten minor things in my order 2x before last night but usually they're nice about fixing it. Well, last night was extremely different. I made my order online for delivery and specifically ordered 2 crab rangoons. When they received my order, my best guess is that they manually put it in to their system rather than it being a direct transfer. When my order came I ate it and went to get my rangoons. There was only one. In confusion, looking at my online receipt with two orders listed I called to see what happened. The owner insisted they didn't mess up and over charge me and told me to look for another receipt in the bag. I did and he was right...they didn't over charge me because they put my order in wrong as only 1 Rangoon. I tried to explain I wasn't upset over the amount charged, rather that I had placed my order online because it seemed to be the most pain free and when I received my order no one told me expect less than what I had asked for, because they didn't know, because they didn't double check and make sure their order was correct on their side of things. Rather than apologize for the mix up the owner started condescendingly calling me ma'am, telling me I was wrong for being upset because they didn't over charge me, and then proceeded to LECTURE ME on how long he's been in the food industry. As if that absolves him from ever making a mistake. I've let every other mishap from this restaraunt go, but last night was truly astounding and extremely unprofessional. The Food here is great! Always hot and fresh. The Singapore rice noodles are fantastic! There egg rolls are crispy I we also love the Hunan Chicken and the Jalapeño chicken.
