I came here after a book event at Mysterious Galaxy, I had been wanting Chinese food so I was excited to see that there was still food. The cost of the food was really reasonable and when I asked the cashier if she preferred the pork belly over the chicken teriyaki I should have listend when she said chicken. I ended up getting the two item combo with noodles, for my proteins I got orange chicken and the pork belly. The noodles were good, had some nice flavor, but man was everything pretty underwhelming. The pork belly was salty and tough, I found it really inedible and it had hard boiled eggs and I kid you not they were hard as rocks, I threw it on my table at home and it made such a loud thumping sound. She did try to warn me that it was salty, but to have it out knowing it's saltiness is strange. I really wanted to like the orange chicken but it was more dough than chicken, maybe the food wasn't as good as I had anticipated because it was later in the evening but man, I do not think I will be back. read more

Great Wall Express at Rosecrans Center is an absolute gem! We found ourselves in a bind when a vendor backed out of a same-day catering order--but Great Wall Express stepped in and saved the day! Not only did they take the last-minute order without hesitation, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was handled smoothly and professionally. Kim was incredibly helpful and friendly throughout the entire process, and the cook got our food out quickly without compromising on quality. You can tell everything is made fresh and in-house daily--the flavors were amazing, and the food was clearly prepared with care. It's obvious the employees take pride in both the quality of their dishes and the service they provide. On top of that, the prices are extremely reasonable for the value you get. Whether you're ordering for a group or just stopping in for a meal, this is a spot you definitely don't want to miss. Ordered the party special trays for our team lunch and it was great! The lady who helped me upfront was very nice and resourceful. I wad very pleased to know we could obtain 6 different trays and do some substitutions for a very affordable pricing. It included, lo main, orange chicken, broccoli and beef, egg rolls, rice and I added a side of garlic wings. Our team loved the food! The only reason why I would give 4 stars is because I was mentioned that party trays does not include soy sauce or any sauces to go with the rolls- I would expect for these to be included as these are always given when ordering. read more

Hands down one of THE best mom and pop Chinese food spots around. It's located in a small shopping center in Point Loma...aka a hidden gem next to UPS. I've come a few times with my mom (who lovessss their wonton soup) both during the week and weekends. This time my fiancé and I were craving it but too lazy to drive down, so we ordered via Door Dash. The food arrived in a timely manner, hot like it was made to order and tasted amazing. I want to start out by pointing out the positives of this restaurant. It's close to San Diego Sea World, it's quick-service affordable food, and the portions are large. Unfortunately, the food itself is not something I'd personally recommend to anyone. The fried rice is not flavorful--I'd describe it as just a step above white rice. The chow mein is even worse--lacked in any depth of flavor. The cashier offered to give me soy sauce which I turned down, but wished I accepted just so I could pour it all over the rice and chow mein. Good fried rice and chow mein shouldn't need those alterations. The teriyaki was more like slow cooker chicken, cooked in broth and saltier than it should be. I'm used to teriyaki chicken that have that sweet and savory flavor that should have that glisten to them. Their orange chicken was lacking in flavor also--some tang to it, but not savory enough. I don't revel in giving them a low rating, but I had to ask myself if I'd ever return and the answer is "no". read more

Excellent Chinese pre-made dishes typically served as combination plates with fried rice and/or lo mein noodles.. we ordered the 4 item combination, one of the items being the obligatory starch option, lo mein noodles for us. Teriyaki chicken was tender and perfect salty, savory and sweet. Beef and broccoli had velvety beef thin slices and slightly over-cooked broccoli but delicious even sitting too long in the warmer. Orange chicken was ok, not my favorite for this kind of Chinese Hole-In-The-Wall.. it could've been a little more orange/sweet but still good. Lo mein noodles were definitely good, better than the norm. For $9.99 this is an incredible amount of food easily serving two!! Service was extremely good for a takeout joint, as the employee was very enthusiastic in recommendations and courtesy!! read more

This little hole in the wall place is not too far from Point Loma base. It was quick and easy ordering and when I arrived the food was hot. They had a wide variety of items plus special combos that come with or without the drinks. I only wished that they would include fortune cookies , that's the best part of ending a meal! They're available and come in a package of 4 for a $1, if you're really wanting them like me. I would give it a chance but just a heads up, it's not like Panda Express food. We stopped in last night on a whim and are pleased. It's nothing fancy however it is tasty. I'm pretty spoiled by having friends from various regions of China that would cook non-American style foods and growing up with NY China town quality, however this place is so far the best quality for a great price around. The lady behind the counter was great! I ordered lo mein and she advised i wait 2 minutes for a fresh batch, which i really appreciated. The beef and broccoli was delicious, as was the Orange Chicken. The portion size was quite large for the money (something that isn't that common in this area). The steamed rice was perfectly done and even though it was the very last of their sweet and sour chicken, it didn't taste stale. I'd love to see General T'so on the menu! If i were you, i would pass on this one. There are a lot of mixed reviews, maybe it depends on when you go... my experience was not a good one. Rude people at restaurants can be forgiven if the food is good. However, for an 11.99 "combo b" meal, i got chicken wings and orange chicken with lo mein. It was significantly below in quality and taste from what i would expect for cheap chinese food. Noodles were hard and flavored very poorly. The chicken wings had a gamey aftertaste, which is odd for chicken wings (like it was fried in old oil) and it was chewy. And the orange chicken was very tough and the sauce stuck to my teeth... i had to smother my food in Sriracha, but it still didn't really help... maybe im spoiled, but probably not. I'd say, save your money on this one and if you want chinese food delivered in this way... go to Panda Express. It will taste way better and you will get more food for your money. read more

I'm all for it! I love these family owned, non-corporate, Asian food spots! Everything is ready to go when you walk in, you choose what you want, and get some generous portions. I enjoyed what I had today which was a 2 item combo with chow mein, mushroom chicken, and sweet and sour chicken. I will definitely be back. Reasonably priced, not over priced like a lot of other places with seriously mediocre a$$ food! And course the customer service was spot on! If it sucked, I would not have given it 5 stars but 4 stars. We bought 4 combo plates.. one 3 item combo and the others were 2 item combos. No drinks since we have some at home. Total: $27!! Yesss!! weekly eat here.. have known Kim for many years and she makes every customer feel great about the experience of either take out or dine in. I recently found out that the manager only give workers a small percentage of all tips. last year I offered to have a window shade installed, the manager was present and said she would do it! at this writing this has not been done. its in hot and very uncomfortable to eat in on the summer.. the employees have the sun baring on them every day.
