When it comes to take out Chinese food in Forest Hills (and I am willing to bet Rego Park) this place takes the top spot. The food is consistently above average and do not have any trace of unsanitary handling or preparation. Dishes like General Tso Chicken or Sesame Chicken are not heavily breaded and fried to rock-like consistency. You will be assured from the first bite that you are actually eating chicken and will never munch on just breading. I just wish they put broccoli in the General Tso Chicken. I usually call in and order for pick up - the food is ready in 5-10 mins. The woman and man behind the counter is straight to the point when taking your order but are not rude or dismissive. Yesterday,I had a huge order: sweet and sour chicken, spicy eggplant, chicken and veggies, broccoli and pea snaps, chicken lo mein, beef and Chinese vegetables and pork fried rice. Five of the dishes came with rice. Took about 20 min to make. Everything was good and fresh...of Chinese take out places I'd actually five it four stars but I wanted to keep the rating for overall all genres of food. DO NOT EAT HERE! I FOUND A DEAD ROACH FLOATING IN MY WONTON SOUP! I used to order from this place at least 2-3 times per month. Typically their food was fair in quality and generous in quantity. The last time I ordered, I found that my Wonton Soup contained a dead roach. I called and told them the situation and the owner (an older woman that sits in the front and takes orders) simply told me that it happens some times, but that I can bring it over and they will make me another free of charge. FREE OF CHARGE!!! As if I would have to pay for another soup after my original had a floating, dead roach. The roach wasn't small either, it resembled a water bug. I bring them the soup. They look at it up front, pass it to the back, a few guys nod and then they discarded it in the back and said, "no worry, we give you another soup for free and free soda can". I told them I simply wanted my money back and that I would be reporting them to the city's department of health. They gave me my money back and said, "please don't say too loud, customers eating here". They have two tables were customers can sit at while they wait for their food or even to have their meals. This place deserves NO stars. Found a strand of hair in my chicken and broccoli. Luckily I spotted it before I dug into the food. I called and complained, the owner offered no apology, but said I could send it back and he would send a new order. First of all, why do I have to send it back? Why would I lie about this? SMH. When I called back the guy on the phone said "what do you want?" I didn't think it was possible, but he got more and more rude as I was trying to finish my order so I said "I'm sorry, but you are so rude please cancel my order I can't believe you're talking to a customer like this" his response ? My girlfriend and I frequent this place because it's close and convenient. We do not go here because the food is actually good or halfway decent. In fact the food is mediocre at best. But the reason for my post is to let people of the neighborhood know the service is ATROCIOUS!! The young girl that works there, has the worst attitude. We came in one night to order and we were greeted by flat out rudeness, the girl was not able to write down our order correctly, and whenever we corrected her, you heard her sigh then mumble something under her breath in Chinese. She did this not only to us, but several other customers that night. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. If a 0 was an option that would be the rating provided for this restaurant. I have been a loyal customer for the past 4 1/2 years. Today after going in and placing an order I paid for 3 egg rolls with my order. I then asked 3x before leaving the location if everything was in the bag which I was informed everything was. When I came home I saw that the egg rolls were not in the bag. When I called I was refused the egg rolls to be delivered to me, because they "were too busy". This restaurant has messed up my orders in the past, and I have still stayed as their customer. After explaining that I have been a loyal customer for 4 years, and that I should be treated as a loyal customer I was hung up on. Terribly rude staff that I will NEVER order from again. first... you have to base a review about the great wall for convenience, for us it was walking distance and there was no need for delivery. before it became the great wall in the 90s it was just another to go chinese food joint that nyc is well known for. when you didn't have time to cook or if it was bad outside and wanted something delivered chinese was and still is a go-to for many new yorkers. the wife and I would rather have franchises of great walls in california than panda expresses. great walls are great for american chinese food at home and a movie, or when your a little under the weather and need of hot warming soup. we searched and searched for chinese food that looks and taste like great wall in socal and we've finally found them,... but theyre not walking distance but a drive of 30mins to get to. they got rid of the pint and quart chinese food to go box containers which was a bit sad cause it's easier to pass those around. at least they still offer the small or large portions cause go outside nyc theres only one option. read more

This place is amazing in terms of speed and delivery! If you order for pick up, the order will be ready in 5 minutes. 10 minutes tops! I recently ordered the fried baby shrimp with fried rice and it is without a doubt the best shrimp I have ever had. I've eaten shrimp in 4 and 5 star restaurants. The fried shrimp here is up to par with the 4 and 5 star restaurants. The fried rice is amazing as well. No complaints. No messed up orders. It's my go to place for a quick Chinese fix. read more

Please read this before going there!!!! Completely dissatisfied. Here are my issues: 1)The older woman working at the register is extremely rude and obnoxious. 2)They charge you tax, but they don't officially ring your order up on the register, so essentially, you are paying a higher price for your dish and they are evading taxes. 3)One menu has one price, the other has another. I ordered from a menu found at the door and when I took out my money to pay that price, she said that isn't the price. So she charged me another higher price without honoring the price I found on her menu. She denied it being that price. 4)They slopped my dish together (shrimp and lobster sauce) and it tasted like flavorless water...it cost me $12 for this garbage. I am still hungry. 5)After spending $12 I asked if I could have a bag of noodles (which used to be completely filled, but now it is about 10 noodles...so cheap), she said,"that is extra." That is a great way of doing business; antagonizing customers. 6)Their prices are steadily rising and they are so greedy. 7)Their delivery man is so rude, he complains when he doesn't like your tip, to your face. Who does this? Once I told him to wait downstairs and I will come down and pick it up and he came upstairs while I went downstairs and I couldn't find him for 20 minutes. Great Wall is exactly what you'd expect from a local take-out joint. It's good, not great but they're always prompt with delivery and the quality is consistant. Plus the delivery guy "Ian" is always extremely nice and polite. We order from Great Wall on a fairly regular basis. read more

I've been ordering from them for years and never found any hair in my food. I'm sure that's even happened at The Four Seasons. The food is delicious and they are very good about special requests. Their hot and sour soup is fantastic. So are their noodles with hot meat sauce, steamed dumpling. They also have the nicest delivery guy. My husband and I order Chinese food from Great Wall because this is the place that is still open . When Peking Duck was open we use to go there. I must say the service at Great Wall is not pleasant at all. I called tonight to find out how much longer it would take for our food to get delivered and the lady answered the phone and said he delivery guy left already and hung up on me. Then I called back and said to her you hung up on me without me giving you my address she I already know who you are and hung up again. All we ordered was two large won ton soup and cheese won ton it took them close to 1hr to deliver the food and we just live 1 block away. Sometimes when order from Great Wall either the food is not freshly made or we get an upset stomach. We have no choice but to order from there because they are the only Chinese food chain in the area.
