Miso Ramen $14.95 as of Sept 2023

Entrance of this place was unexpected. It reminded me of a office building instead of a restaurant. We had to go in, walk up a flight of stairs to find the place. Once you're in, we found this place to be pretty packed on a Sunday night, 7pm. The staff were friendly and seated us promptly. We had the sushi boat for 2 and it came out pretty quickly. It tasted pretty good, with nice variety of fish. The presentation was cute, on a clean boat. The miso ramen soup was nothing special, however. The sliced chicken within the soup was extremely dry and my kid didn't even finish it...and she loves miso based soups. The bathroom is not attached to the restaurant. You have to go back out to the main lobby and find the shared bathroom. At least it was clean, though. Parking is scarce...only metered street parking, if you can find it. There's a tiny lot but its usually packed.

I would give this restaurant a 4.5. Food and service are excellent. It's a very popular restaurant so it's always crowded and a bit loud for my taste. But it shows how popular this place is. My favorite are their Udon and Soba noodle dishes. I also love their sushis. They have a variety and some are very creative.

Brightly lit, airy and authentic feeling Japanese restaurant. Really nice, fresh and large selection of sushi and Japanese dishes. It's a BYOB establishment which makes the bill so much lighter. Really enjoyed our experience and will be back.

I happened to find myself in this pocket of suburban (read: lowkey rural) Massachusetts on a Saturday evening and came across this nice restaurant on Yelp. They were quite busy when we walked in around 7pm (which is always a good sign!) but fortunately there was a small table in the corner for us. Overall, I was pretty pleased with our meal! We started with an agedashi tofu to share; portion size decent, not too salty, but the interior of the tofu was a bit bland. For sushi, we ordered the Alaskan maki and the Rainbow maki. Both were decent; fish pretty fresh, and portion sizes were fair. The salmon was quite tasty in particular. We also ordered the beef teriyaki entree, which was fantastic! The beef was super tender and was surprisingly large. Also, other than the soup, salad, and rice, it also came with a large service of spaghetti noodles, which turned out to be a bit too much food for us haha. The soup was average, but the salad was more like a bowl of salad dressing with a few leaves, so best to stay away from this one. Overall, definitely exceeded my expectations - good food at a decent price. It's a bit out of the way for me - I was just passing through the area - so I'm not sure if I'll ever find myself here again, but I do think that it was a pretty good experience and one that I'd recommend :)

A good friend and I went here early on a Saturday night. My friend had previously been to the restaurant and was able to show me how to reach the restaurant, which is located on the second floor of the building. She had found this restaurant after searching for a Japanese restaurant that has gluten free options. She noted that both she and her gluten free family member enjoyed the food the first time and were happy to find a place that could accommodate gluten free options. When I went, I ordered the edamame, the yaki udon with chicken, teriyaki noodles, vegetable tempura, and cucumber sushi to share with my friend. All of the dishes were a good size to share and well done. The staff was friendly and were able to accommodate the large number of customers for early in the evening. Additionally, the pricing felt extremely reasonable for the portions. In the future, I would order the same dishes and be interested in trying some of the other entrees as well.

yama is my go to place for sushi in the metrowest area. their sushi is tasty and fresh. some of my favorites are the caterpillar roll, celtics roll and crazy roll. their maki rolls range from $5 to $20. their restaurant has the traditional japanese style seating as well as regular tables. take out orders are always done in a timely manner. service is excellent - they are family owned and are all very nice. i highly recommend yama! overall rating: 10/10

Negi maki- this was a bit too gooey and sweet, but the beef was good.

I always have a hard time with stars..it's not an absolute value for me. I save 5 for a place I'd make an effort to go back to, but 4 is often a mixture. This place was good enough, and probably 3.5 or so, and this 4 star is different from when I give 4 stars to a famous place I had big expectations on. I see some people giving 1-2 stars, and I don't think it deserves that. Maybe during pandemic it had ups and downs? Anyways..I went for a dinner with my friends who like this place. We ordered a bunch of things, and many things were better than the mediocre, industrial "Japanese" places you find in smaller cities. Nothing was like "wow this is amazing," but everything was above average. It was quiet and the service was attentive (maybe almost too attentive!there were only 2-3 tables occupied, so this was understandable.) I hope this place survives the ordeal of pandic! Please see photos for details.

Everything here is freshly made, which is very important when it comes to good sushi. I'm not going to lie I didn't take a look at the menu prior to going here, so I had a difficult time finding something I would like as there wasn't too many options for me, but the sushi and the wings I ordered were delicious. The service also was excellent... this place is a must try!

Good seaweed salad and miso soup.

Yama used to be a great small Japanese restaurant known for many good things but especially the sushi. They mainly had a dining service with some take out. Sometime during Covid19 and post Covid19 they transitioned to a take out concentrated business model. Yama became more focused on take out, DoorDash and Uber Eats. This was painfully evident when we had dinner. The waitress said they were running slow which happens in the post Covid19 restaurant industry but an hour to get our food? Yama has exceeded their dining room operating capacity and has shifted their bandwidth to the take out side of their business. The sushi was still good but how long before their food quality declines?

The best part about this restaurant is it's BYOB! Been here a couple times. The prices are pretty good and so is the food. This time, we ordered 2 sushi rolls and an beef entree to share between the 2 of us. King Roll: 4/5 deliciously incorporated salmon and tuna, yum! Red Sox Maki: 5/5 favorite of the night! Loved the crunch of the tempura flakes and the balance of the yellowtail and avocado. Definitely ordering this again Beef Teriyaki: 4/5 beef was tender and well seasoned. Wasn't a big fan of the side noodles, but the beef was surprisingly good Portions are fairly large. The sushi rolls comes with 8 pieces, which was devoured in no time. We were so full and brought back most of the beef teriyaki dish. We always walk in with no reservations. Typically the wait is ~20 min. Service is attentive. Good for casual dining.

The egg is perfectly cooked and the spice level adds a ton of depth without overpowering the broth. The flavor is rich, balanced, and exactly what you want from a great bowl of ramen. The katsu is crispy and well done, and the sauce drizzle ties everything together nicely without making it too heavy. The interior has blue and red neon with mirrors that remind me of a Japanese karaoke bar. We were seated immediately and chose the bar so we could watch the kitchen in action. Service was attentive and friendly. It was hot out, so I ordered a Sapporo, which was refreshing, but be warned this is the BIG can, and it's a lot of beer. We tried the fried beef bao to start, which was better than I expected - they fried the bao and it was really tasty. For ramen, I had their signature ramen and the broth was kind of like a hybrid between tan tan (sesame) and tonkatsu (porky) with a bit of spice. It was pretty good, not too salty, but was lacking a bit of depth. I liked the bok choy but didn't realize it didn't come with an egg, so I'd add that next time. The katsu that came on the side had a good sauce but it was kind of dry. Would return to try other ramen bowls when I'm in the area again.

I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon one time and waited ~10-15 minutes for two sushi rolls because there was only one person working on the sushi behind the counter and one person taking care of the register. Please be patient with them as they seem like a family-owned small business. You can also call ahead to order party trays. The prices seem fair, I've never been disappointed with the quality of fish.
