We recently stayed here at the waterpark, and I have to share an incredible experience. While we were swimming, the diamond fell out of my wedding ring somewhere in one of the pools or possibly the hot tub. We immediately let the pool staff know, and my husband filled out a missing item report with the front desk before we left. To our complete surprise, we received a phone call the very next day saying they had found my diamond in the pool filter! I honestly couldn't believe it. This speaks volumes about the staff. They must hire honest, hardworking people with integrity who truly care about their guests. It would have been so easy for something that small to disappear forever, but instead someone took the time to recover it and make sure it was returned to us. It truly felt like a miracle, and I will be forever grateful. Thank you to everyone involved for your honesty, kindness, and professionalism. Great place for young kids and families. We've been 3 times, and our kids always have a great time. The amount of activities throughout the day in the lobby, the dance parties and foam parties always gets the kids bouncing around, is always a good time. The magical Wands for the kids to use throughout the hotel and interacting with the different statues and animals, is always fun to watch. The staff has always been friendly and nice. Highly recommend for families with young kids. read more

When we arrived the original room deck was not accessible due to a swarm of bees living in the wood outside. We had to move because I don't know yet if my daughter is alergic. We were charged a parking fee when we checked out a day early. They also refused to refund a full night's stay when we checked out 1 day earlier. Terrible experience and customer service. I was very pleased at our experience at the lodge. We needed a quick 1 night for an appt and everything was so seamless, I was very impressed. Everything seemed clean and it was very fun. The wolf theming was over the top and my kids ate. It. Up. The complimentary wolf ears really made for a slightly stressful arrival more fun. The food offerings weren't amazing, but the one major issue we had with our order being wrong was immediately fixed and refunded promptly with a simple text. Our room was adorably themed and the kids were overjoyed in kids camp! I'm sad we missed the dance party and little character meet and greets, but it will be something we can look forward to next time. There wasn't a ton of waterpark offerings compared to other parks, but honestly it's perfect for a younger audience (under 10). We were able to comfortably do everything within a few hours with minimal lines. I liked the convenience 24 hour location. My major criticism would be that the 24 hour arcade was not staffed and there was a ton of games that needed unjammed and some kids were completely feral and making it miserable for others (throwing basketballs hard at each other and almost hitting my baby). I get that it's a parenting thing, but also when parenting fails, it becomes needing a staff member thing. The prize shop wasn't open either which made my kids upset. read more

AMAZING HOTEL!!!!! I am 12 years old and this place was my Disney World when I was a kid. The water-park is great, The Dance-parties at night are fun, and this location has the Magi-Quest Legacy! (Not 2.0 or evergreen.) Anyway, still upset that they took away the animatronics. The rooms are CLEAN!!! And there are so many tiny details that you can miss! But if you are on a budget, be careful. This is about reservations and customer service, especially the website and main customer service number. Absolutely horrible experience! On hold almost an hour. They jilust laugh and, oh yeah, sorry. You cannot do ANYTHING online or the app, even though the number tries to direct you there. Then they tell me my room is almost $400 for the first night. Not all at what it said when I booked it. Customer service reflects how you value customers. Great Wolf lodge only values how much money they can get, not the human component based on the atrocious customer service. Transfer to the actual lodge who took care of it. Overall, the experience is always fun for the kids, and that's why we keep coming back to Great Wolf Lodge Traverse City. Unfortunately, this stay had several issues that made it much more stressful than expected. First, we were not given our Wolf Pass at check-in. Because of that, we had to deal with a toddler meltdown when he was told he couldn't use his wand without the pass. Then at the arcade, we loaded $100 onto a game card and won several hundred--if not thousands--of tickets. When we went to redeem them, we were told the card had 0 tickets. That led to another meltdown when we had to take away the candy he thought he earned. On top of that, several machines charged us points even when they weren't working. We understand that issues can happen, but these problems really took away from what should have been a smooth, fun trip for the kids. read more

This place isn't so Great...the main pool was cold and I know it's suppose to be really warm. The lazy river water was way warmer than the main pool, so I know there was a problem. Then we went to the ice cream shop and there was a hair in my ice cream. And to top it off, my daughter had a soft serve cone and got food poisioning. We weren't charged for any of it but it was still awful. We weren't able to enjoy the 2 days we were there and the management didn't offer us a discount for the time wasted. I thought the place was dirty and gross. I never saw an employee walking around swiping down tables, elevator buttons or anything that is touched a hundred times by everyone. Dear @GreatWolfLodge, I'm a Black woman in my 50s who recently visited your Traverse City, MI location with my family to celebrate my mother's birthday and nephew's graduation. We hadn't seen each other in over a year and were excited to make memories--especially on our last day together at your resort. While trying to take a photo of my family by the pool, a lifeguard repeatedly walked in front of my camera. When I asked her to give us a moment, she rudely said, "No, I have to do this." Even though no one else was in the area, she continued to obstruct the shot. When I stepped aside onto the ledge to avoid her, she forcefully pushed past me--physically hitting me. I asked for a supervisor. After reviewing footage, management said it appeared to be an "accident" and that the employee was "shaken"--yet no apology was offered. She was sent home, while I was grilled for 30+ minutes, having to prove I wasn't the aggressor. I even showed footage from my phone. Still, the best they could offer was dinner and five comp passes. We had already planned to return in 2027 with a group of 24 for our next family reunion. After this experience, I don't think that's happening. This was more than poor customer service. This was assault. This was racial bias. And this was a complete failure in guest care and accountability. Do better. For me, and for every guest who deserves to be respected and safe. read more

Get ready to be gouged on prices and gimmicks or attempts to get you to "upgrade." They now charge $20 for parking - front desk staff gave a canned response of it being for "upgrading parking lot security." Seems like BS to charge $20 x hundreds of visitors per day...more like an easy way for them to rip off visitors. And now they charge $5 to "activate" the wands. Kids waving wands at their activity sensors is essentially NO cost to the resort. Again just an easy way to rip off visitors. Also very annoying to have to click thru and decline a half dozen times all of their attempts to get you to upgrade while processing reservations. Then they try yet again to get you to do it while in person. read more

A much smaller facility than Wisconsin Dells and Sandusky locations. The MagicQuest was a joke compared to the other GWL that have separate buildings. You have to stay with your kids at all times unlike the other GWL where you can let them roam on each level because this one is in the hotel. So you go by private rooms and it just didn't feel safe enough. The waterpark did not have a wave pool and it seemed much smaller. Although it wasn't as busy as other locations. The staff are still very nice and the lifeguards are on top of their jobs. They now charge you $15 per night for parking. Everyone checking in was very upset by it. There's no extra security so not sure why they charge for it. Our room was very nice and the reason I gave a two star. The last complaints have to do with check in. It took almost an hour and I was 9th in line. There were 5 people at the desk but most times only 2 checking in. There was no concierge to hold bags while waiting for your room to be ready. Below are the positive: Accessible parking Accessible rooms Accessible waterpark (they have a water wheelchair you can borrow, lifts to get into pools and lazy river, you can roll under the bucket dump easily. Other than that, If you've never been to another Great Wolf Lodge, this place is probably great. If you have, don't come unless you're here for other parts of Traverse City. Water park is small compared to others. Magic Quest is a joke. It's not in its own building or area. It's around the top floors of the atrium. The game passes rooms if the stairs are taken, you're kids can't roam like other ones. There is no level 2 for the quest. The elevator is slow because kids have to use it for the game. We had even called previously because it was showing 2 reservations. At the counter I showed step by step booking a reservation and the price did not change on app. Im included a random reservation picture showing this. We were really looking forward to our stay at Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City, but the experience was a major disappointment from start to finish. Before we even arrived, I called ahead and mentioned that it would be my wife's birthday during our stay. I asked if there was anything they could do to help make it special. I was told they couldn't offer anything because we booked through Groupon. That was incredibly discouraging -- a birthday is a perfect opportunity for a hospitality-focused business to go above and beyond, but they clearly had no interest in doing so. While staying at the lodge: My wife slipped and fell in the water park -- a lifeguard saw it happen and didn't say or do anything. No offer to help, no check to see if she was okay. That kind of neglect in a supposedly family-friendly environment is unacceptable. Our room was dirty when we arrived -- trash under the beds and an unclean bathroom. Staff overall were not helpful or friendly. Any concerns we brought up were dismissed. The food and everything else on-site were outrageously overpriced for the quality. The resort was loud and overcrowded, making it hard to relax or even get a decent night's sleep. We ended up leaving a night early because of how bad the experience was -- and we were still charged for parking for that second night we didn't even stay. Overall, this trip was nothing like what Great Wolf Lodge advertises. Between the poor service, lack of concern for guest safety, and unwillingness to offer even the smallest gestures of kindness, we left feeling like our time and money had been completely wasted. We stayed in the Fireplace Suite for two nights. The hotel is very busy; lots of kids running around doing "magic quests." There are a lot of "extra" costs if you or child wants to participate in the quests, along with other fees, such as parking. The food and drinks in the restaurant there are kind of expensive for the quality in my opinion. You have to "check out towels" in the water park if you don't bring your own. If you don't "check them back in" then there is a charge. The water park was fun and we enjoyed the outdoor pool as well. Our room wasn't the cleanest, we found coke bottles stuffed into the couch our first day there shortly after check-in. For the price of the stay, we expected better quality and didn't plan on all of the extra fees and costs. read more

"Resort" does not accept cash. Room was well cleaned some cobwebs up high, breakfast at cafe good selections. Waterpark was good condition and life guards job well done! Room was on first floor, people above were so loud it shook wall art and lamps. Probably will not come back due to price and hidden fees. They still had a decent time, but we thought the water park was going to be a lot bigger from the pictures. Price wise, not worth it. I went here a while back with my friend and kids, 3 of them, between 8-12 years of age. It's a bit pricey to stay here. Had a room with double bed and a pullout. It's a nice hotel and very family oriented. The water park is complete chaos and mayhem during non-pandemic. Not a lot of activities but the lazy River and rides with adults for the shorter ones though. The youngest of my friend's kids was on the short side and wasn't allowed to do many rides on her own. She was totally disheartened to have to hang with the adults while her two siblings were able to run free and on their own. read more

Buffet Breakfast I found out that the only option for breakfast was the buffet so I told my family we were going at 7:30am when it opened because I do not like to eat at buffets due to the contamination from people whom have no business being at a buffet. We arrived at 7:30 and were the first family to get our food from the buffet. While we were sitting and eating the general public did not dissapoint. As I predicted there were children at the buffet some getting there own food and some holding plates while an adult was placing food on the plate. The children some of which were mouth hight to the buffet food were coughing directly toward and on the food. One small girl I would say was about 4 grabbed a pancake with her hand and it fell on the floor and she put it back. There were many small children in line at the buffet that were coughing without covering their mouths. The cough and sneeze gaurds on the buffet were adult height. Needless to say this prevented us from getting additional food after witnessing this. This was not a pleasant experience especially for the premium price I paid for the buffet. 3 adults, 5 children. $106. None of my children were coughing and they know thier manners. Unfortunatly that is not the case for other children. May I suggest children under a certain age lets say 12 are not allowed to go up to the buffet. Parents would need to go and put food on their plates. I also witnessed there was no emplyee supervision at the buffet. read more

Beware the $15/night parking scam they don't tell you about until check-in (wild they take advantage of families this way). Also, the place is filthy. This was a fun getaway during our holiday break, and hubs was grateful to have been able to book only a week before our trip. We booked a two-night stay, but really only had time to go to the water park for one day. The week-day hours for the water park are 10am - 8pm. We arrived at the resort Wednesday at 8pm, and checkout on Friday was 11am, unless we wanted to pay a $49 late check-out fee (is this something new, or just with the kid resort place?). My son also had a good time with his MagiQuest wand. Shout out to the woman working at that store on Friday morning - her tips helped him beat a dragon, leaving the trip successful for him. The pizza place downstairs - meh. I think they lost our order, so she just took a name off another one and gave it to me out of the warmer. And it took so long, we were out of drinks, but there are no refills, which we didn't know when we filled our cups halfway with foam the first time. The actual restaurant was much nicer. Hubs and I escaped for some drinks and appetizers while the kids did their wand stuff. It was nice, and the staff was excellent and attentive. Overall, they don't have a lot of competition in the market, so we'll probably be back, unless the kids age out first. read more

I came here with my 6 year old twins. The place is overall very affordable, clean, and the staff was friendly. I thought it was a similar experience as Disney in that everything is designed with kids in mind, but obviously less to do here, but at a fraction of the price. It's good for 1 or 2 nights or while seeing other stuff in Traverse City. They had life jackets for kids, and there were many very professional life guards who seemed to take their job very seriously. The water was very warm, and my kids had a blast. We were here midweek after school had started so hard to say how the place does during peak season. There is a Dunkin' Donuts with normal prices and a restaurant with reasonable prices and huge portions. The mini golf was also fun and reasonably priced. The theme rooms were great for kids as they get a bunk bed in a cabin-like setting. It reminded me of Disney in how it's designed for kids. The only main negative was the arcade which is a total rip-off (5x the prices of Chuck E Cheese), and most of the games were the scam use the claw to try to grab a stuffed animal. Magic quest was a little expensive, for what we got out of it with little kids, but I imagine older kids would get their parents money worth. For those unfamiliar with Traverse City, the area is gorgeous so plenty to see outside of Wolf Lodge. read more

Good experience with the family on a (frequent) rainy or freezing day here. The indoor water park is impressive and very clean--the staff do a good job too making sure people are following the various rules, which I really appreciated being here with a toddler. Water park closes at 8:00, but there was also a 24/7 video arcade and some other later night activities for kids to keep them busy as well. Pretty much everywhere (including the water park) also had beer wine and cocktails available. Food was pretty good but was still very much targeted at kids--pizza, wings, burgers, and chicken tender type fare. It was easy to place an order from the kiosk or your phone and pick it up quickly, however. All in all, highly recommend for people with kids; fun experience and completely self contained to avoid the weather. read more
