We read the reviews and chose this over another Greek restaurant in the area. The experience was not the best. When ordering we asked about the portion size to see if we should maybe also order an appetizer. The waitress seemed offended or confused by the question. The restaurant was ICE cold inside. When the food was served it came on styrofoam plates with a roll instead of pita bread - not the norm when eating at other restaurants. I ordered the chicken kabob - very tasty - but when I asked for tzatziki sauce again a stare as if I asked an offensive question. I was told it comes with honey mustard but funny thing, I didn't get any honey mustard. The baklava looked good so when I went to the counter to the same waitress to ask for a piece, yes she gave the smallest piece in the case. I figured she would. We are not new to Greek cuisine and travelled a long way to be disappointed. read more

I live in AZ and come here a few times a year to visit family. Every time I come here I have to eat at this restaurant at least once. I always get either the Greek salad or a gyro. The employees were really nice but this isn't really the place to get an authentic gyro. The meat looks like lunch meat sourced from GFS. There definitely isn't a carving stand where you're getting strips of meat with a nice char. It's just meat pulled form a package, heated up and placed in a Pita. read more

Don't let the surroundings deter you though, the food and service are very good. I went for lunch with a friend. You order at the counter, and the food is brought out to you. There's a very good selection for a place of its size. I went with a tried and true lamb gyro and Greek salad. Salad was great and gyro was very good - just wished it had cucumbers and well as the tomatoes and onions. Dishes are inexpensive and come out quickly. I was in the area for work and turned to Yelp to find a quick lunch near the office. This was just about a half mile away and ranked #1 in my search area, so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered the combo, which included a Greek salad and a lamb gyro. The salad was basic but fresh and delicious and the dressing was VERY good. The gyro was piping hot and delicious! The pita was soft yet had a little bit of chewiness that held it all together. Upon first glance, you'd miss this little gem hidden in a strip mall along Cin-Day road just up the road from Monroe. And by the looks of the place, most wouldn't consider going inside but what a mistake that would be. The food is awesome and authentic. The staff is friendly and work hard to get it right. Whether take-out or dine-in, it is a great and different food experience... which is a breath of fresh air in the world of fast-food and chain restaurants. I used to work in Middletown for one week out of every month and as soon as I got to the job site everyone was telling me I had to have lunch at Grecian Delight. So we went and I tried the gyro and was actually kind of disappointed in it. The home made Tzatziki sauce however is INCREDIBLE and I pretty much knew I had to come back and try something else. So when I came back a month later we went on a Tuesday and I tried the daily special which is baked chicken riganati with manestra pasta. It is absolutely incredible, the best meal I've ever ate off of a styrofoam plate. The chicken is cooked perfectly, the lemon-oregano sauce is tangy and perfectly seasoned, and the pasta is the perfect addition to the dish. I wish I could say I tried anything else, but honestly after that all I ever wanted was the riganati. And, that dish is worth giving this place five stars. Well, that and the staff is super friendly, and always made me feel like I was in their home. Oh, and the prices are insane. I work in Chicago now and I feel like the default lunch price is $10, the daily specials which come with soup or salad are $7! What? That's amazing. If there is ONE thing to nitpick it is that at lunch time they are absolutely packed and it can take a while to get your food which could be a problem if you are on a tight schedule, however I was not so it didn't bug me that much. I highly recommend you check out Grecian Delight if you are in the Dayton area. It is easily the only thing I miss about traveling to Ohio. read more

Darling Greek restaurant recommended by a coworker who had been in Middletown before. I was in from out of town. The Greek salad with chicken is filling, and the chicken is really flavorful. They have many options, sandwiches, salads, platters, soups. The menu is long. My coworkers ate the chicken special of the day which was served with orzo (similar to rice) and lots of sauces, plus salad and pita bread. We also ended up staying long at our table and so the sweet owner (Maria)brought us desserts to sample. Rice pudding with cinnamon (so good! I slurped it up) followed by a sweet/fried pita dessert that reminded me of funnel cake - she topped it with rosewater and powdered sugar. The owner and her son run the restaurant. They were friendly as could be and eager to tell us their story. A small and independent restaurant in what seemed like the sea of chain restaurants in Middletown. The Monday special, Pastichio, is the best I've ever tasted in any Greek restaurant and the price is right. For $7.95 you get a generous portion of pastichio, fresh seasoned green beans, roll & butter and your choice of soup/salad. I always get the Greek salad which is a small extra charge but worth it for all the feta cheese on it. After that filling meal, I get baklava to go - the best baklava I've ever had. I've also tried their chili. If you like meaty chili, you will love it. The owner, Maria, is always there cooking with love. Since she knows me & my family as frequent customers & knows we are lamb lovers, she let us know she was making lamb the day before Easter. We got there by noon and her lamb special (complete with sides) was delicious with generous portions and a price below $9.00. She even came to our table & asked if we wanted more lamb. If you like good homemade food, Grecian Delight is a treasure hidden away in Middletown. My son can't remember the name so he calls it Sunny Delight which is a perfect name since Maria has such a sunny disposition. read more

Maria recently catered my Mother's memorial service at Woodside Cemetery. The food was fresh and delicious. Her chicken melted in your mouth and the baklava had been freshly baked the day before. We had several people leave and not eat (their loss!) so I ended up taking a lot of chicken and orzo home, along with almost a full plate of the baklava. Took the baklava to work the next morning, and the office staff devoured it and could not stop commenting how good and fresh it was. I went home Monday night and made a whole pot of soup from the chicken and orzo...added onion and garlic, chicken broth, freshly squeezed lemon and spinach. It is the best soup I've ever made. I can't express how awesome this place is. Was looking for somewhere close to the outlet malls to stop for a quick meal. It's only a couple minutes away. My girlfriend and I ordered: Gyro - this was flat out the best gyro I've ever had!!!!!!!!!! By far!!!!!! It was heaped with meat, with an absolutely perfect pita, great tzatziki sauce. Completely devoured it. Greek burger - incredible. Burger with tzatziki sauce. Loved it. Athenian salad - this one was kind of weird. Potato salad with regular greek salad on top of it.
