honestly I don't know why this restaurant has such high ratings on Uber. This is my second time trying it and I really don't think it's good at all. The chicken gyro is rubbery, the tzatziki is just cucumber and yogurt (taste wise) I feel everything isn't fresh or has much flavor. So let me start by saying, the hubby and I visited Greece in November, and fell in love with the country and the food. We stopped by this new place for lunch and let me tell you, this place is awesome. It is going to sound strange because what I ordered required no cooking, but everything I ate was fresh and delicious. The staff here is super friendly and very attentive. We started with an order of buffalo wings. Strange option for a greek place, but we are suckers for good buffalo wings. They were really good. You could tell the blue cheese dressing was home made. Next up, I have the village salad. No lettuce in the salad. It is green peppers, red onion, olives, feta, and tomato. I got the small and it was big enough for me. It took me right back to Athens. It was what I ordered all the time there. The dressing was delicious and all the veg was fresh and sliced in nice pieces. I loved it! The pita that came with it was so good.... The hubby got a chicken souvlaki sandwich. He loved it, and if you read my other reviews, he can be a pain when it comes to eating out. My son got the chicken skewer, and let me tell you the chunks of chicken that came on it could have been a whole meal for me. The chicken was so good, and not dry, and the peppers and onions were delicious. I am so glad to have this new addition to the neighborhood, and I will be visiting often. read more

The gyros and the chicken kebabs were amazing, and the hummus and tzatziki tasted freshly made, and we're outstanding. We also tried the lemon potatoes and the the lemon orzo soup, both of which were delicious. Extremely nice and accommodating staff. Came with my whole family to sit and eat, and even though they're mainly a take-out spot with only 4-5 tables and a bar, they allowed us to push two tables together, and even provided us table service. 10/10 - Thanks for the great dinner. read more

We dined in for lunch. I ordered a gyro sandwich while my girlfriend ordered a falafel sandwich. Both were good and ready within a couple minutes. I liked the falafels a lot but wish they had put more traditional items in the sandwich (ex: Israeli salad) rather than just lettuce and tomato. Is this Halal food? For sure its not greek . The gyro is disgusting, not even close to the real gyro . I tried the gyro sandwich ,the tzaziki was on top of the gyro wich is supposed to be the other way around,the sandwich was overfilled with meat wich i dont even think was fresh. The chicken my son ordered was like rubber . The guy behind the counter had an unpleasent way of dressing and his shirt and pants were dirty. I dont know if he was related to the owner or not. Also the old man with the hat kept removing his hat all the time , is that even sanitary? Hair around the food? He kept yelling at the kitchen i felt uncomfortable. I hope he is not the owner of that place. Long story short i gave one star but if there was a zero option i would definetly give zero. Best Greek taverna style food we have had in the neighborhood. Huge portions, delicious food and everything was cooked to perfection. The greek salad and spicy feta dip were incredible. We also had souvlaki and chicken kebob platters that were juicy and flavorful-- even some delicious leftovers for tomorrow. The baklava was the perfect way to end our meal. The customer service was excellent and we are looking forward to more flavorful and satisfying meals from The Greek Cove. We couldn't be happier with our experience. My husband and I will eat at/order from here occasionally and the food never disappoints. So when it came time for our monthly all-staff meeting (I work at my church), I decided to cater from Greek Cove in Merrick instead of our usual Greek place that's closer to the church (their hours were beginning to become a challenge regarding getting the food in time for lunch). I spoke with a lovely young woman when I called to order. She was confident, took command of the order and left me feeling totally reassured that our lunch experience would be perfect. She was even extremely accommodating when I called to add more food to the order, as some who weren't supposed to be at the meeting decided to come (I can't say for sure if it's because they knew we were serving Greek food this month)! So here's where my 5-star review comes in. It goes without saying that the food is phenomenal. But the customer service is outstanding! Me being me, when we opened up the trays of food, my Italian eyes deceived me and all it took was one comment from one person questioning the amount of food to send me into a tailspin of panic. I failed to remember that they took half-tray orders and put them into full-trays because the half-trays were overstuffed! And let's be honest...Greeks really aren't different than Italians when it comes to providing an over abundance of food on any given occasion. After putting the food out for the staff, I ran into the office to hide, I even resorted to praying loaves and fishes over the food. That's when my fear took over and I called Greek Cove to tell them we just didn't have enough food and I was thinking of ordering more. The lovely girl (who I spoke to the day before and who also helped me to carry all the items to my car) answered the phone and calmly apologized to me, explaining that the amount of food was definitely what they provided for the number of people we had. Somehow I pulled my panicked self together and told her it was all good, we would be fine and I appreciated her assistance (I'd be lying if I told you I didn't once again pray loaves and fishes over the food when we hung up). A few minutes later, the owner/manager called me back, SO patient and SO kind, explaining he wouldn't want me to think they were cheating me out of food! Well (extremely) long story short, the food was not only absolutely delicious but fed everyone, with a few even going for seconds. Shame on me for not trusting the professionals!! I highly recommend Greek Cove in Merrick, you will not be disappointed whether you come in for a meal or cater off-premise! I love Greek salad so I decided to check out this place to see how their salad taste. They got my order right as I added a side of Dolmas. One of the Dolmas unwrapped in the package, which meant that it was not wrapped tight enough. Needless to say, the rice from that one Dolmas was all over the inside of the container. They prepared the salad ok, however their salad dressing that they put aside taste horrible. Every time I bit into my salad with the dressing, it had a pungent after taste. If I would have known better, I would say they use bits of olives in the dressing and I hate olives. I'm going to stick to Santorini Restaurant in Merrick for their salad and Dolmas. read more

Ordered Yesterday for take it. One gyro sandwich and one chicken gyro. Apparently the chicken gyro wasn't off the spit like it was prior pandemic. The pieces of chicken were burnt and horrible. A few months ago they were slices of chicken gyro off the spit . Flavorful and plentiful. The other sandwich was regular gyro. Pieces of meat rather than slices. Very dissatisfied ! Craving Greek food and a good amount of choices in the area, I chose Greek Cove. First impression was that the restaurant had an indoor/outdoor option. So while you are indoors you can still feel like you are outside. The restaurant was immaculate, everyone who worked there was so delightful and friendly.
