Terminal 3 at SFO doesn't have any good places to eat. Whilst browsing through the stalls, I decided to buy a breakfast sandwich which I thought will be the safest in taste. It's just a simple brioche bun with ham and egg. How could it go wrong? It was burnt! They left sandwiches on a hot plate to keep it hot. Even the paper wrap became crispy and stuck on the sandwich. Brioche was very dry. It costs US$14.95 for a sandwich. I had to go back and return it. I fortunately got a refund for this. And I should say I'd give 5-star for customer service. read more

Stopped by for a matcha latte on my way out of town - ordered a hot 24 oz to carry me through the rest of the day. I usually go to SBUX/Peet's, but I promised the family I'd branch out on this business trip, in order to add some grit to my daily routine! Mistake number 1: not ordering my matcha sweetened. Mistake number 2: not requesting the barista to go light on the matcha powder (one would think this would be done automatically given the matcha shortage and insane prices). The place is fairly small and more geared to people on the go as opposed to stay around and munch/sip. It was afternoon and a light crowd. I got a Cuban sandwich panini with a 16oz latte. The sandwich, warmed, was just OK. One of those prepacked deals that left something to be desired but did take away the pang for something to eat. I asked for mustard which came in packets but it was old and stale, like a brick when it came out. The coffee however was very good. I was surprised by the quality. The woman serving at the counter was friendly and took her time preparing the drink, and did a good job. Overall the experience was just OK and expensive. Decided to try a new place for breakfast at SFO but should have consulted Yelp before trying Green Beans. They have a promenade location in terminal 3 with plentiful nearby seating. Sadly, they only offer medium roasted drip coffee, which lacked flavor (I take it black) and generic baked goods that did not impress. I tried The Green Bean Coffee and got the spiced chai smoothie. It was definitely on the sweeter side, but you can really taste the chai; the flavor is strong and noticeable, which I liked. If you're a chai fan, it still hits even with the sweetness. The café has a nice, relaxed vibe and is a good spot to grab a drink and hang out. I got to the airport early for my flight so I walked the restaurants of terminal 3 and found Green Beans to be the best choice for what I was looking for. I got a breakfast sandwich, a latte, a smoothie, and an apple fritter. I was able to get through just before the rush, which I know can affect people's experience. I found the staff to be polite and hard working. The breakfast sandwich was delicious, just everything I needed. I really enjoyed my smoothie but it was $11 for a small glass bottle so I am not sure I would recommend unless you just really want one like I did. Standard latte, nothing special but all the same enjoyable. The apple fritter is huge and delicious, you should definitely get one while you're there. I ate half and took the other half home on my flight - around 6 hours later I gave my partner the other half and it was still super fresh. All in all, I spent $40 for all of my food. She is discussing with her coworkers how she doesn't want to work with one of her coworkers and laughing while taking my order...that's fine, but they are charging a employee benefit fee that's mandatory. She didnt let me know the drinks are ready. Slid my drinks on the table and walked away...with that being said, some other guy from the coffee store next to it, was screaming and throwing a tantrum, cussing up a store. I landed at SFO for a girl's weekend about an hour and half before any of the rest of my group so I found myself in need of a decent coffee and some breakfast. Initially I was hopeful to find a Starbucks because I think they are in general a safe bet when travelling but once I realized the Starbucks was located outside of security I went back to meandering the halls of this airport to find something to eat. Enter Green Beans Coffee. The line was long, but this place looked local and I thought it might be worth a shot. After all they had breakfast sandwiches and iced coffee so it had to be okay. Sadly this was probably the most disappointing breakfast sandwich and iced coffee I've had. My standards are always a bit lower at an airport, but when you're paying an arm and a leg, and waiting in a long line, you kind of expect it to be as good as a fast food restaurant. The breakfast sandwich was flavorless, and the coffee was slightly below average, though drinkable. I have to watch my caffeine intake right now so knowing I blew my one coffee that day on something below average made me a bit extra salty. The only saving grace here was that the woman working the pastry case at this location was probably the nicest and cherriest person I have ever encountered at an airport. She gets all the stars. Overall though, I'm not sure if SFO has a better coffee/ quick breakfast option, but if they do I'd probably try somewhere different next time. read more

But the customer service is consistently terrible whenever the same Asian lady is working. Her attitude is always negative, and it really affects the experience. We all know the jist of airport food. Got a mocha frappe just before my flight and I was actually quite delighted by it. Not a bad price for a drink at an airport, and I would definitely get it again. Only one star knocked off just because it was incredibly sugary. I had a young gentleman and another nice looking lady serve me and of course SFO is ALWAYS packed, so they were sweating and running around but always remained kind to everyone. There were only a few people in line at 8am on a Saturday, so there was hardly a wait for anything. The staff was friendly and had our drinks ready at the pick-up counter pretty quickly. The place is at the center of the food area in terminal 3, and there is plenty of seating here. But our gate was also right next to this storefront, so it was convenient to bring it back to our seats there. What I loved is that they have a great variety of drinks on their menu, from hot and cold coffee beverages to delicious smoothies, as well as a beautiful display of pastries for sale. I loved my iced mocha, it was smooth and creamy with a great chocolatey flavor, perfect for an early morning pick-me-up, and better quality than what I typically get at a lot of other coffee shops. read more

This is located in the International Terminal G in the area check-in area, so you can grab some food and beverages before passing through TSA. There is a fridge on the right with a lot of healthy pre-packaged options ranging from sandwiches, chia seed pudding, vegan desserts, fruits, and drinks. The menu has your typical drink options, similar to what you would see in a Starbucks, such as Frappes, iced and hot lattes, smoothies, hot chocolate, and espressos. In the display case is a nice variety of baked goods, though I'm okay shelling out $4-$5 dollars on a coffee, I'm not so keen on spending that much on a chocolate croissant. We came on a weekday afternoon, so it wasn't busy at all and our drinks were made fairly quick. Hot Spiced Chai Latte: This drink can be ordered in the 12oz-32 oz. The foam topping is where most of the spiced flavoring was and it tasted so much like Christmas. Loved this one. Mother of all Coffees: 4 shots of espresso topped with the house blend coffee. You have a choice of leaving room for creamer, which is self served. The only size option is the largest, 32 oz. Chicken Pesto Sandwich: This sandwich was okay, nothing special. Right across Green Beans is a food court where you can try different hot food options, but if you're in a hurry, this will do. read more
