We like a good smash burger with an ocean view. Sunset Beach is such an iconic OC location. I don't know why we haven't eaten here before. Probably, only because there are so many wonderful restaurants in a 15 minute driving radius from our homes. Green Cheek Beer Co is the perfect example. I have driven by this place 1000 times in the past decade or so. We came, we marveled at the ample parking lot, the amazing rooftop patio, fabulous fast, made-to-order food. The friendly service, the locally brewed craft beer, this is a new favorite! Next time I will wear my board shorts, and catch a few tasty waves before lunch!
Solid beer selection, and the food menu looked pretty good. You order up at a counter and get a buzzer when food is ready so minimal staff interaction. It's close to the water but the roof top seating faces away from the ocean which I was disappointed in. Overall decent place to stop for a drink and food.
Quintessential California, enjoying a post work happy hour on the back patio on a beautiful day with ocean views. Staff was helping offering sampling to ensure what you pick is perfect for your palette. We did the leap and got the big kahuna Fishbowl of Youth. It is herbal while being warmth and the right amount of fun to a summer day. Keep in mind there is a deposits for this goblet beauty. As long as you return, you shouldn't have any issues. Easily shareable with two or one if you enjoy for hours. Looking forward to trying the lemonade seltzer and sours next time
My new favorite Green Cheek location with a rooftop and seamless service both upstairs and downstairs. I'm a consistent fan of their Hazys. There's a small view of the ocean as well and several options to sit under the shade.
Beers - excellent choices and very mouth wateringly delious and quenching. Food- just had their fries, but well executed and hard to stop until they are all gone. Good crunch covered by hot, melted gooey cheese topped with grilled onions. Clean restroom Customer service - genuinely friendly and helpful. Parking - limited small private lot, but decent public parking right behind the place. Vibe- mellow and easy going
Drinks are always great quality. Service is quick, and the servers are courteous and helpful. Merchandise is always rotating so if you like something grab it before it's gone. Location has a small parking lot, with semi tight spaces but it's expected due to their location. It's dog friendly and has a second story balcony where you can see the beach. Overall awesome place!

Met up with a good friend of mine, who recommend Green Cheek in Sunset Beach. It's rare to see their beers on tap in NoCal, so I was excited to partake while visiting SoCal. I arrived earlier than expected and parking was a nightmare. Always is in the beach communities, but parked about 4 blocks away with an easy walk to the establishment. There was no parking available in their small lot but the drive through window to pick up beer was a neat idea. I was fortunate to find a table downstairs at the back the tap room near the stairs and decided to start with Flying South, a 5% Mexican-Style lager. Really enjoyable, simple on the nose and palate. Followed this up with Good For Morale, which was my favorite beer of the day. Still on a Czech Pils kick after returning from Prague and this offering quite rich and full with a mild sweetness. I finished the day with an order with Lots of Fries and a Classic Double Smashburger and 8 year Vol. 1, a Wesdt Coast Pils. Layered with a plethora of hops, this was a very fruity pils with very good aromatics. All in all this was a great family friend establishment to visit. It was crowded on the Sunday we were there, but there was always a place to sit, either downstairs inside, or upstairs, outside. The staff was friendly and helping and the taproom very inviting. Great beer and food, would recommend this place if you are in HB!
Cool spot with great food and an even better atmosphere. Parking can be a bit challenging, even though there's a small lot, it fills up quickly. The upstairs patio is definitely the highlight: yellow umbrellas, a relaxed vibe, and views over the residential side, with little glimpses of the ocean between the houses. It's a unique setup, especially considering one side of the restaurant faces a busy street while the patio feels calm and tucked away. The menu is small and well curated, which makes ordering easy. We tried both smashburgers and the ahi tuna--everything was delicious. Service was friendly and on point. A great place to enjoy good food in a laid-back but thoughtfully designed setting.
The porter that was recommended to me was the best glass of beer that I have ever had. I wish I knew the name. The vibe was festive and relaxing, and there were plenty of laid-back dogs lounging next to their buzzed humans. I had higher hopes for their food, after reading the hyped reviews of many fellow yelpers. But when I tried my smash burger, I was overwhelmed. The bun was relatively small, and there was just two patties and American cheese in the sandwich. I thought lettuce and tomato ought to be the standard ingredients for a $15 burger, but it was not to be. My wife enjoyed her chicken sandwich and salad, and we both feasted on their tater tots. Come for the beer, good company, and ocean breeze. Food should not be your priority. Parking was a nightmare, but that was to be expected along the beach.
Not a very memorable location. If it wasn't near the beach, I don't think this place would be worth visiting. The beer selection was fine, but the air was warm, so the glass of the cups and pitcher was warm. So that made the beer warm pretty fast. The food is what you'd expect from a bar/brewery, so it's on the saltier side with nothing to make it stand out.
I've been a Green Cheek fan for years, but this beachside spot is my favorite. I bike 10 miles each way just to earn my smash burger and lavender lemonade pitcher. Worth. Every. Mile. Parking is a mess--cars and bikes alike--so skip the drama and pedal in like a legend. The food here is way above typical brewery fare. Smash burgers = elite. Blackened fish tacos = fire. The plant-based chorizo supreme? Honestly better than Taco Bell. And don't sleep on the pork belly tots--crispy, fatty perfection. Drinks are well-priced for the location, with multiple glass sizes depending on your thirst level. I'm obsessed with the lavender lemonade and sometimes just commit to a whole pitcher like the classy beach bum I am. Service is fast for drinks, food takes a bit longer, but grab a seat upstairs and soak in those SoCal vibes. Beer, sun, ocean breeze--what more do you need? Come for the brews, stay for the tater tots, and bike home to feel less guilty about it all.
The smash burger never fails here. My friend got the chicken sandwich and said it was good, but spicy. The tater tots for some reason were all stuck together. The wings and ranch are very good here.

THIS is a burger spot that you must try! Juicy, tasty, mouth watering burgers served here. they even have vegetarian options! Smash burger 10/10: I ordered the smash burger & added lettuce & tomatoes. Service is great! Finding a table is a bit hard, but there is sitting on the inside & outside. The ambiance is perfect for small to medium groups. We came around 3pm on a Saturday. They serve alcohol upstairs in their seating area and food is served downstairs! A must-try smash burger spot. My boyfriend and I ordered two smash burgers - one with fries and the other with a salad, and both were absolutely delicious. The burger comes with two patties, which I found a bit too much for myself, but my boyfriend loved it. Surprisingly, it didn't feel too heavy after we finished eating. The burger really impressed me, especially since I'm not usually a huge burger fanatic. The fries were perfect - crispy and a great complement to the meal. The salad was also fantastic - a Mediterranean salad that paired much better with the burger than a classic Caesar would have. The only downside is that parking can be limited and hard to find, and the wait time can be long due to the line. Seating is also limited, but I'd imagine coming during the weekday for lunch or dinner would make things a bit easier. read more

We love biking around here! Every single time we come here, it ALWAYS hits. Their burgers and fries are perfectly made. 10/10!! Their potato bun is sooo soft and buttery. The only thing that could be better, is if it was bigger because it's so good!! We're going to try the triple stack next time. The fries are perfectly well crisped! They don't charge you for extra sauces like most places now! My fiancés obsessed with sauces and they were great for dipping To the girl cashiering, thank you for my little ranch sauce. It's a fresh house made ranch w/ dill! Great service. Ambiance: They have a little mini free arcade that probably needs to be cleaned or fixed, but I love the concept along with their sliver of beach view! read more

I had never been here before last weekend but my husband has... we went together on Saturday. It was a lovely day. We sat on the top floor patio. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich and he got the double smash burger. Both were excellent. I got the Lavender Lemonade to drink and it was fantastic! I enjoyed it very much. A 16oz glass of it was only $6 (very reasonable for an alcoholic beverage while dining out these days). We will be back! read more
Okay, I've driven past this location for a while. I finally stopped in and while I didn't eat here my dog did. They made her a patty which hit the spot. The service was great and the second floor rooftop is perfect! I also appreciated the beers which was why I came here in the first place also being from LA, having parking that was this easy peazy!!! read more

I am regular there, however I have noticed that the quality and the portion of the meals are getting smaller but the prices are not. Especially with the fresh meals like salads. Second, some of the staff have some ego issues. I am not naming anybody publicly but maybe asking the staff not to have an attitude when the client asks a question (especially that they are not servicing, they are only taking the order and getting tipped) Most probably won't go there again. There are tons of other restaurent around. Ambiance is normal. read more

What a gem! Green Cheek may have the best smash burger in town, and I don't take that statement lightly. On top of that, they have great beer and friendly staff. Their upstairs patio has ocean views, allowing you to enjoy an ice cold beer while catching some rays. Trust me... get the smash burger! read more

Rooftop + ocean views = YES please! Timing can be tricky as the roof gets packed with people and pups. Loved the chill vibe. Wasn't feeling like a beer, so I went with their sangria and then my favorite the adult slushie. Not sure if that's what it's called, but that's what I'm naming it lol. Just like their revolving tap, you never know what the slushie flavor is going to be. This weekend it is cherry lime, great balance of sweet and tart. If you are hungry, food is on the first floor. We were starving (hence no photos) and went for apps and then meals. The loaded tator tots and large pretzel...YUM. The main dishes were the smash burger with fries, coconut curry banh mi, and the fish tacos. Sadly the fish tacos were more like appetizer size, so I had to snag fries from my family. Which were crispy and delicious! Tip: it's family and dog friendly, so everyone can enjoy. read more

Tried this brewery for the first time last Friday, pretty busy but still able to find seats, parking can be difficult though. We were lucky and found street parking nearby since the lot was full (and is pretty small). I tried one of their west coast ipas and was impressed! Great crafts beers and delicious food! The pretzel is chefs kiss and a must. It comes with yummy cheese and grainy mustard. We also tried the cheeky tots, which came with cheese and grilled onions. Honestly, tasted like in n out on tater tots, we loved it. They have indoor seating downstairs and upstairs, as well as upstairs outdoor seating which is where we sat. The person taking orders wasn't the friendliest, but it didn't hinder my experience. I would say that is why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. My nephews, nieces and I stayed on Sunset Beach for a week. I took my 10 and 7 year old nephew and niece twice for lunch!! The Classic Smash Burger is awesome and their tater tots are cooked to perfection!! I loved being able to have a small salad with my burger, while I stole many tots!! Their portions are shareable!! Both times I had an IPA that was perfect! We went during the week and on Saturday. Both days we didn't have a wait. Even though they were busy in the weekend, we sat on a comfortable table with lots of room. We will be back next year! Especially since we didn't have to play Frogger to get there!!! read more

Delicious food, drinks and a nice atmosphere. Upstairs open patio seating was ample and the was extensive indoor seating. Highly recommend the Watermelon Slushy, Lavender Lemonade and Overzealously Zealous. Smash Burger and BBQ burgers were delicious. Service was great and there were counters upstairs and down to order drinks. Food was only available to order downstairs. Went on a Saturday at noon and although busy, the food and beverages came quickly. Will definitely be going back. read more

I've been to this location several times and the food is always bomb. The cheeky fries are flavorful and they give a great portion. Beer selection is great and service is typically quick and easy. Good rooftop location ideal for sunny days. read more

Delicious food, great staff, and an overall chill, laid-back environment at this Huntington Beach cafe! There were many beers to choose from. I loved that they played music from the 2000s as well. It really gave a nice and nostalgic feeling. They have huge portions which is awesome to have to eat as leftovers for later! read more

This place used to be Harry's Grill which I always loved going to for some post surf session grub. Today I finally decided to give this new place a shot and I wasn't disappointed. Im not much of a beer drinking, but wanted to order one anyways since it is a beer place after all. I went with Happy Almonds. I also ordered the bbq cheeseburger and cheeky fries. The beer tasted magnificent. I was pleasantly surprised since it's hard for me to find a beer I actually like. Fries were nice and crispy and the burger was decent. Service overall was great and you really can't beat the atmosphere here with the rooftop patio area. read more
Still feeling a little cheeky after a brewery one-stop-crawl with some friends. After hearing the raving reviews, I gathered the squad (and our dogs) to check out Green Cheek's new Sunset Beach location. This two-story brewery has cracked the code with the most perfect set up! Downstairs you'll find a small eatery and their 2nd floor has a roof top patio with gorgeous coastal views. There's even a drive-though for to-go six packs! What a great day to be a beer lover. I kept things simple and ordered their lightest option, an American lager called Beach Buddy - 4%. I've been on a small drinking hiatus, so this beer was perfectly light, while also managing to be flavorful. I was also able to taste my friend's Lavender Lemonade seltzer, which she claims is 'the best seltzer on earth.' To top it off we ordered a number of appetizers and food items to share. My personal favorite were the loaded tots covered in house made beer cheese and burger sauce. I'd return for these alone! read more

You order food at the bar and they give you a buzzer. When the buzzer goes off, go to the bar and get your food. Beer is served at the bar.

I have seen dogs inside on more than one occasion, although I don't know if there's an official policy.
