Our previous favorite Chinese food place has gone way downhill in quality and service so we tried this place. They do deliver, which is nice. However we will never use them again. They forgot the orders of Crab Rangoon and I had to call. They brought it back out. Then the Roasted pork egg rolls had no pork in them only the vegetables. Then the Chicken egg foo young had no chicken in it. It was over priced food ,I thought. In the past people had told me this place was real good. Not anymore. We have gone here a few times, thought the food was good. This last time I order 2 entries with fried rice substituting, and 2 soups. When I went to get it was $35 , I said that was not right, the lady said something very fast and could not understand her. I looked in the bag and they added an extra large fried rice and one the others was white rice. Let me start by saying that I LOOOOVE chinese food. And mexican, but that's neither here nor there... My top pick for chinese food in the Saint Charles/ Saint Peters area, the one that I would recommend to a friend (and I have tried many in the area), is without question- this place. Green China is good stuff. Can be a bit on the spicy side, but tastes great. Their General Tso's chicken is nice, breaded, chunky white meat chicken in a delectable sauce. I also love their hot 'n sour soup. Their egg rolls are big, honking things full of deliciousness. Yummmm. I'm only giving four stars though, because it is not a buffet and I believe that if these owners operated a chinese buffet, of this caliber, people from all over St. Charles County would FLOCK to it. Unfortunately, they do not as of yet operate a buffet, and the location is a little, non-descript storefront in a strip mall. Can be kinda chilly in there during the winter months, because it is a tiny little hole in the wall that the wind just blows right through on the inside. I usually just get my food to go, seating isn't super comfortable. But the reason I go here is, first and foremost, to eat. And the food is very, very good. Stop in if you are nearby. Look, it is Americanized Chinese food. It is pretty hard to screw it up. Let me premise that by saying that after spending time in China as a graduate student, eating real Chinese food, nothing here in the United States compares. It is just a letdown eating 'Chinese food' here in America after having eaten the real thing. But, I digress. Green China is right around the corner from my house. Very close and convenient. When I call and place an order, they always tell me it will be '10 minutes' until it is ready to pick up. Sure enough, as soon as I hang up the phone, I put my shoes on, get in the car, head right over, and my order is ready. I can't explain it, but my food is always ready, hot and I am back home before I know it. They do get a slight downgrade, because as with all Chinese restaurants here in America, I question the sanitation. Based on my experiences in the food industry, and with what I see in all Chinese restaurants, I am skeptical about their cleanliness and sanitation. I don't care what the Health Department sticker on the window says. There is still something dubious about what happens there. And I'm totally serious when I say that it's on par with LA Chinese Food. After living hear for over 10 months I can say that by far.... this is the best family owned restaurant I have eaten at. I haven't had Chinese food in a very long time. The egg roll had raw dough on the inside and was inedible. It was almost too brown on the outside. The spring rolls were very cold in the center even after being deep fried. General Tso's Chicken was only dark meat and not well seasoned. I requested medium, but it didn't have much flavor or any heat. No sweet or sour sauce was in the bag. The owners kids minus the oldest girl need to stay out of there. They cannot get your order correct or the correct pricing. They do very well with the small space they have. It's a great feeling when I enter an establishment and they remember my name and my usual order. I've eaten at more Chinese take-out restaurants in the Metro STL area than I can ever count. This is one of the best. It may look like a bit of a dive when you walk in, and a few tables are too close to the door (they don't have a whole lot of space for DIne-In customers), but the food and the friendliness of the staff more than make up for any short-comings it may have. I've continued to go there time after time these past few years, and even after trying other take-outs within the area, I always come back to this one. In all the years I've been going here now, only one time was one item in my order wrong, and the staff realized what they had done before I even got out of the parking lot. The chicken fried rice is always a good choice but the crab Rangoon is out of this world. I have never been able to find crab Rangoon this good. The sweet taste and the fried to perfection wonton is every bit of deliciousness. The price is reasonable however I hate going in! Its like the always say, you don't always want to see where your good came from! When I walk into Green China it does look like it needs a paint job and a good bottle of Mr Clean taken to EVERY SURFACE in the entire building. I don't write a lot of reviews but I like to when I feel like I can help out others not from the area. Since moving here, we haven't found a good Chinese restaurant and just kind of gave up on it. Some friends recommended Green China and we've finally found it! The one star reduction is two-fold...the won ton soup didn't have a lot of flavor, so will try egg drop next time. Plus, when compared to our favorite Chinese restaurant "back home", this is not as good...so that's the standard to us. I will say what others have mentioned that the Crab Rangoon is awesome. That's a must have from now on. The other meals (General Tso and Sweet & Sour Chicken) were both good. Let me also add that the fried rice is really good. Now I'm a person that really doesn't care for rice much and have to use soy sauce or other sauce to eat. But not their fried rice... It's really good.
