After years of using Yelp, I've finally joined to thank the guys at Green Drop Garage for saving my vacation. We were down from Seattle for the weekend when my car began leaking oil like a sieve, so we hightailed it to the nearest garage that would take us. The folks at Green Drop pointed out my neglected oil filter and changed it and my oil on the spot, then sent us away without even charging us for their time and supplies. Since my old Seattle garage closed it's time to find a new one up here; if I lived in Portland I'd be starting with Green Drop! read more

I decided to go to Green Drop based on a friends recommendation since she thought they were good to her when she took her car there for regular maintenance. Turns out they are very inconsistent with quality of care. I authorized approximately $4,550 in repairs based on Green Drop's diagnostic findings. The check engine light was on for a catalytic converter issue and they said the rear hub bearings assembly needed repair "or else my wheel might fall off". Following those repairs, the vehicle developed a significant vibration at highway speeds. I returned the vehicle to Green Drop and their technician confirmed the vibration during a test drive. Green Drop documented that the wheels were balanced and attributed the vibration to the front axles (even though based on my research the symptoms clearly indicated that the vibration was likely related to something in the rear wheels). Because the vibration persisted, I obtained an independent inspection from another repair facility. That facility documented that the front wheels were balanced but both rear wheels were out of balance, measuring 10 grams off on the left rear and 20 grams off on the right rear, and corrected the imbalance. Had Green Drop's Uptown garage actually balanced the rear wheels during initial repair or when I brought it back for inspection they would have saved me from great concern that something was seriously wrong with my vehicle after the repairs they did on it. It's unfortunate that they couldn't take responsibility. I have to wonder if they actually looked at my car when I brought it back with concern for the new issue that arose after they worked on it. Were they just trying to sell me on another high priced repair? I am requesting an explanation of the wheel-balancing work performed by Green Drop, including what procedure was used and whether all four wheels were dynamically balanced initially and checked again for balancing when I brought it back to them with the new vibration concern. So far they are have not responded to my written request for further documentation. read more

I took my car to Green Drop NW- had them check the underside of my car because I thought there was damage and they determined it was bent metal causing the rattle I was hearing. They took the time to show me where the car had been scraped and offered to pull the bent metal off, which they did. They would not accept any money from me! I've been a big fan of Green Drop Garage because of the charities contributions they provide the community, but unfortunately lately I haven't been as happy with the service they provide to their cliets. We had an appointment for an oil change and they told us it would take 1 hour and 30 minutes. After waiting 3 hours and the car had not even been touched, my husband had to leave with the car without an oil change. My husband wanted me to cancel our membership but I will give them another try and just continue to take our car to the MLK location and not even go back here again. read more

Terrible. Very rude. I wouldn't trust them with a hot wheels car, let alone a real car. Avoid them at all costs. There are several other different garages in the neighborhood that are much, much better and more affordable. read more

I scheduled a visit to green drop for an oil and filter change. The appointment took substantially longer than other garages, and cost nearly double the amount spent elsewhere for the same service. It turned out that Green Drop decided to replace my wiper blades (which didnt seem to need it) and rotated the tires - again unasked, and they have no way to know whether it had been done elsewhere. The car had 7000 miles at that point. It's common courtesy to check with a customer for unrelated, optional work, and this was not done. so, twice the price, nearly twice the time? no thank you, never again. read more

Micheal is the best, he communicated via text while I left the care and went to an event. I was able to easily pick up my car after hours. I love the membership and am so impressed by the detailed review of the work receive by email. It's easy to keep the maintenance records this way, and they let me know when services are needed, such as every 60,000 miles or so. read more

I had a couple minor issues with my Jeep, and they fixed them both, no fuss, no muss. I appreciated the simplicity and speed with which they worked. And I love that they are doing what they can to be "green" in a difficult industry for that kind of focus. I'll be completely honest; I didn't get any work done on the car here. However, I was on my way to purchase a former rental car and the check engine light went off on my way there. I was really stressed - about to fork over thousands of dollars for a car that potentially had engine problems. I happened to be driving past this garage, and decided to drop in. I told them the situation and they were SO helpful. Eric had them read the codes and it seems like it was most likely an issue with the gas cap being dirty. They cleaned off the gas cap, explained how the lack of vacuum in the tank can lead to an error light, and didn't charge me a penny. It was such a huge relief and I'm grateful for their kindness. Also they have a cute senior dog named Dude who is the biggest sweetheart. They may have converted me to a customer! read more

To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I'm afraid I've lost all faith in Green Drop, after over 6 years of patronage. I came in with a busted camshaft seal that drained 3 quarts of oil and ruined my timing belt and water pump. I was suspicious about the oil leak from the very start, because I had gotten an oil change at Green Drop just 2 weeks prior and they didn't mention anything about the camshaft seal. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt and got the repairs. Within a day of picking up my car, my check engine light went on. I stopped at SE 9th location to get it checked out and I was horrified to learn that THE OIL CAP WAS MISSING AND MY ENGINE WAS COVERED IN OIL! Thankfully I hadn't driven more than a few miles before getting it checked out, because this could've ruined my timing belt and water pump ALL OVER AGAIN! I'm shocked that after making major repairs resulting from an oil leak, the mechanics at Green Drop didn't take the time or care to put on or tighten the oil cap to prevent another oil disaster from happening. That's either gross negligence or actively ripping off customers--both of which go against Green Drop's stated values. It also confirms my suspicions that the original problem stemmed from a Green Drop oil change. I can no longer trust Green Drop and won't be recommending them to friends. Save yourself the time and money and take your business elsewhere. read more

Highest possible recommendation for Green Drop! The folks at all their garages are consistently uber-courteous and friendly and take the best care of my car. Locally owned with multiple locations, they have cool swag and a variety of complimentary beverages (local beers, LaCroix, etc.) to enjoy while you wait or take to go! I love the Uptown location. I drop off my car for service or repair and amble around the city. So many sights to see and places to eat, drink and shop within walking distance in the Stadium neighborhood. These guys are absolutely amazing! My husband and I were driving from Southern CA and heading up to Washington when our truck started driving weird and the check engine light turned on. We called Green Drop and spoke to Kyle, and he told us that he would run the diagnostic code for us and help us figure out the issue. He helped us figure out the issue, let us call around to find a part, and even let us park our truck in his garage overnight for free. It feels scary trusting a mechanic when you're from out of town and Kyle helped us feel safe and in good hands. Highly recommend! read more

Words cannot express how amazing of a job Green Drop has done for me. I have a 97 Dodge Dakota that had, quite literally, the unfixable problem. I had taken my truck into two other small mechanics AND the dealership, all of whom could not properly diagnose or fix the malfunction. Both the motor input and output connections had gone bad and no one could figure it out. After months of dead ends I took the truck into green drop. They finally found the problems but alas, the parts were not available anywhere in the States. The amazing Mechanic Joe pushed forward anyways and HAND BUILT THE PARTS for a very reasonable price. The parts have functioned without flaw for two months now. They were my trucks SAVIORS and I cannot recommend them enough. Big shoutout to them for hard work, amazing customer service, and being just as invested as I was. Joe even walked me through (in person WITH my truck) what was going wrong and showed me his handy work under the hood. I will be sending many people to them for services. They deserve a sixth star just for dedication. read more
