We were having a date at the lake and wanted to stop in for a casual lunch. We were seated in a back room next to the window. The whole place has a cool vibe, and our waitress could not have been friendlier! We shared the French dip sandwich with grilled peppers and onions, probably the best roast beef we have had in the area. The special salad dressing of the day was Ken's Asian Sesame, my absolute favorite, which I can't find anymore. So I had a side salad, which was huge and full of mixed veggies. We wanted to eat at Eric's office, Yelp didn't show the hours as closed but their website showed they were closed. We even called but no answer. The green front was the next choice. There was 10 of us and they offered the shuffleboard table, we thought we'd be a little more comfortable in the corner booth. We ordered a variety of menu items like burgers, Pizza, their wings with the barbecue country sweet sauce, we're very good. I have to yet the homemade local sausage which was very good. So many good things to say about this place. Kitchen open until midnight, great beer including their own brewed beer. I browsed Yelp for a while and found this place as the best bar restaurant, and was told to order Sausage on the Heel. I did exactly that and I was not disappointed. One of the best sausage and pepper type combos that I've ever had. Sweet potato fries are nice steak fries, the wings are excellent and so was the soup. Cheap prices and very friendly staff. The pizza had nice flavor, but honestly it's extremely doughy and and floury. I'd have to give it 4.4 out of 10 only because it's all bread. No crunch. Canandaigua itself is a VERY busy town and it is often very hard to find someplace to eat. We were there on business and did a search of places near us. The Green Front popped up. The food seemed very typical for bar food but we wanted a quiet place to converse. Honestly if we lived in Canandaigua we would be regulars there. It is not a huge place by any means, which we liked. It wasn't a chain...which is even better. The waitstaff was friendly. The place was clean. The drinks were good. The food even better. We had the cauliflower crust Green Front Pizza. There is no doubt the crust is premade and the $4 upcharge was a bit much for a 10" pizza (we thought the menu said $2, but were not going to argue). The toppings were plentiful and we didn't even finish it split between two people. We ordered wings as well and did a mix of garlic parm and medium sauce. We asked for them crispy as well. I have to say, these were probably some of the best wings we have ever had. I know most people say wings are wings...but these were meaty and done perfectly. I would really consider this more of a sports bar that serves food than a restaurant. A loud rowdy sports bar full of locals. It is smaller than I expected, consisting of 4 small high top round tables adjacent to the bar and perhaps half a dozen tables at the rear. I did appreciate the signage as soon as you walk in directing you to seat yourself The menu has somewhat typical bar food, like wings, chicken fingers, pizza, subs and other sandwiches. My better half really liked the wings, which I also enjoyed but thought they were a little greasy. We also had some of the deep fried green beans to get out veggie on. I had the polimeni pizza which was good but I was too full to eat most of it. The italian sausage sandwich we got also hit the spot. All the food we got was served very hot and on paper plates. Definitely a family type of place; I saw plenty of kids, teens, 20 somethings, all the way to older folks. They also seem to do a lot of take-out business. We thought it was going to be a great place, and it probably is most of the time. Front of house staff were friendly, our waitress not so much. My chicken ceaser salad was mushy, dried out chicken with mushy warm cucumber slices. My wife's Italian sausage on heel was awesome. My daughter's burger, pretty awful. The atmosphere, mostly provided by other patrons let us know that LGBTQ folks are not really welcome. We ate quietly and left quickly. The waitress wasn't happy with us either. It didn't help that when I returned to our vehicle across the street from the restaurant someone had hit the back bumper and smashed it in. (Yeah, I know that has nothing to do with the restaurant). Server was pleasant and attentive. I ordered the beefy- which is French dip. Flavorful beef served on Marticello bread with a side of au jus. Very tasty. The husband ordered hot wings. I LOVE the fish and chips at the Green Front. The fish is cod, which is a nice change from haddock. Even though the strips of fish seem "thin," they're quite meaty. The tartar sauce appears to be homemade - if it's not, they have me fooled! Fries are tasty, too. Crinkle cut and crisp. And I agree with some of the other reviewers: food is good and hot when it hits the table. The staff knows how to hustle! I've had fried pickle chips in a few different places over the years, and the Green Front takes first place. Great recipe. The service has always been good and wait staff is friendly. Amazing lunch!! Simple straight forward menu with great options, not too many but just the right amount. Extensive beer list, a great representation of local brews. I had the Italian Sausage sandwich and my date had the Cheeseburger. We both upgraded to French Fries. Service was prompt and super friendly. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. This is my favorite place. From the very first visit (when I was house shopping in this state) it has become a family favorite. It's warm and cozy and the food is always great. It's consistently good. Great beer selection, great staff, and very good food. My only complaint (if you can call it that) is that since COVID the popcorn machine has been shut down and my kids really enjoyed that. I wish they'd bring it back. Other than that, I just wish that their pot roast was on the menu all the time and not just a special. That is so good. Sometimes I wish there was more variety on the menu but it's probably so consistent because they know how to do those few things really well. I ordered the cheeseburger and steak fries. Soo tasty! The burger was fresh and definitely was not a frozen pattie. No soggy buns at this place and the fries were piping hot. I was told they weren't beer battered, but kind of tasted like they were.. So yummy! Everything was cooked to perfection. They sell Pepsi products, but you can order root beer from the tap.
