It's strange to be actually writing a review about Green Hills Memorial Park but today we went to place some flowers on our Grandmother, Grandfather, Aunty and Uncles plots this afternoon. We do this every year before Christmas . Green Hills staff does an excellent job in getting thing ready for holidays. Old flowers are removed so family members can place new flowers and Christmas decorations on the plots. We saw many Christmas trees and many Christmas decorations all over the park. Such a sad time of year but we're always happy to see many other families celebrating with their lost ones. read more

Compassionate care when we needed it most - thank you, David Pendleton Losing our mom in January 2026, right after the holidays, was devastating. My brother and I were completely overwhelmed - emotional, heartbroken, and struggling to focus on details like costs and paperwork. We visited several cemeteries across Los Angeles, and unfortunately, some had very poor customer service during such a sensitive time. That only made things harder. Then we found Green Hills. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. The front desk ladies were kind, and David Pendleton was nothing short of extraordinary. He understood our pain without us having to explain it. He walked us through the packages patiently, gave us a thoughtful tour, and helped us make decisions without ever pressuring us. He was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and - most importantly - human. Thanks to David, we found the peaceful, beautiful resting place our mom truly deserved. Beautiful setting, terrible service, communication and deceptive pricing. For estate planning, we considered this memorial because of a family recommendation. We secured a niche and the rep worked well. Another rep then asked if they could sell a package for memorial service. We initially leaned no because we wanted an option at a more reasonable budget and closer to our residence. They still outlined a package based on what we wanted, which included open casket funeral, cremation afterwards, transporting services for out of state/out of country if necessary. After we realized local options weren't feasible, we asked if they could lower cost without changing package. Instead of doing so, they just downgraded the services. We kept having to address poor communication when we had questions, over communication when we were told we were busy and numerous clerical errors. We then received a final invoice with extra fees for transporting and weekend services. We were never told ahead of time those items would be extra. A supervisor tried to assist, but still refused to lower the price. This whole process took over four months. It was exhausting, annoying and dishonesty all around. The sales rep acted compassionate, but she really operated as a car salesman trying to sneak in costs and not be as forthright as we had asked. UPDATED: Shame on Elizabeth's response to my complaint. Elizabeth, you're a liar and your play-by-play is incredibly inaccurate. Here is the actual play-by-play: 1. After securing niche for our Dad through Melinda (all positive with Melinda), we were given pricing for embalming, open casket funeral, cremation afterwards, transporting and including out of state/out of country. At that point, we were told transporting was not an additional charge. Same thing with out of state/out of country, if needed. 2. We communicated to Monique and Monica that we were looking at other options both because of budget and geography (we're in Encino/Tarzana, so we had that as initial preference). 3. After seeing some options for our various services weren't readily available, we asked Green Hills if they were able to offer any a la carte services in conjunction with another facility. We were told no. Understandable. We then said we'll look at other options because of budget. 4. At that point, Monica told us they could look to see if they can reduce pricing. We said we'll listen, but reiterated we're not looking to downgrade services. 5. After a few check ins without a response several weeks later, Monica gave us a counter proposal with a price reduction. But that price reduction entailed a downgraded package even though we specifically said we didn't want to downgrade services. 6. Monica then sent an updated cost with an additional charge for transporting fees. That was not part of original price. I pointed out clerical error and it was corrected, but there weren't any actual price reductions even though Monica said it's possible you all could. At that point, Monica then pointed out out of state/out of country transporting is extra as well as if funeral takes place on a weekend. Generally we understand costs are more on weekend. But that was never communicated to us at the beginning at any point. 7. Monique tried to rectify by removing cost of transportation, but didn't lower the cost anywhere else. In conclusion, you all are not transparent at all with pricing. You are snake oil salesmen trying to maximize bottom line without equating the fact that you work at a funeral service, not a car dealership. I already filed my complaint to the Better Business Bureau. Your answer here is unacceptable and disappointing, but not surprising. - Mark Medina read more

We just dropped by for their Christmas event but our kids had a great time with the crafts, snow sleights and the snacks. Thank you for the wonderful event planning!! Parking is plenty as they have a lot of lot in the back for the event. Santa photo shooting was also free but the line was really long. Better to split up and let kids do the crafts while one adult waits in line. We can't believe it was a free event. Totally worth the trip. read more

Kristy is simply amazing. I believe she is part of the sales department, but honestly for customer service is simply exemplary and top-notch. To be honest, I had an issue with the initial booking. Then Kristy came in and truly sorted everything out and found the perfect solution for us and our specific needs. The process as we all know is extremely difficult and painful, expensive and complicated. At the same time, it is the one opportunity to honor those we love one more final time. Kristy went above and beyond in taking care of us, our family. She gave us a service we felt was worthy of our amazing dad.. We now consider her to be part of our family and it all starts with simply caring about people. I've been to a few funerals here over the years, but recently was here for my aunt's funeral. The staff were very kind and accommodating with our family and I can't thank them enough for being so helpful with everything. The grounds are beautiful and always well kept. I actually like this better than Rose Hills and Forrest Lawn because it doesn't feel as crowded on the days I've visited, but it also doesn't feel like our loved ones are on top of a hill way off in the distance. They are close to the Botanical Gardens and Palos Verdes, so if you need some more time in nature to cry or grieve, you have nearby options. Some time has passed and we've seen our loved ones over the years be buried here, but it's comforting to know this place is truly serene and peaceful each time we visit. read more

It is a typical ripoff cemetery charging for everything except for the air you breathe probably because they can't control it. But you don't have much choice if you want what they offer. Personally I prefer cremation & scattering of my ashes to the wind in your own backyard or other place of your choosing but my wife said 'NO!' Emphatically. My brother passed away in January 2024. Everything was paid for -- every cent -- as funeral homes are sure to collect. And yet, over a year later, he still has no headstone. I've tried to understand why, but I've never been given a clear answer. My mother, who is battling stage 4 cancer, is 77 years old. She has made multiple trips to his gravesite, searching for where her son is buried -- because she still cannot find him without a headstone. She has told me more than once, "I will probably die before I ever see a headstone on my son's grave." I don't want her to pass away not knowing if her son will ever be properly honored. Gracelyn Rose passed a few days before she was due to be here with us. instead she went straight to our Lord Jesus 2 days prior. There was much emotion. I'll be honest I was trepidatious about using green hills because a little over 5 years ago when my lovely mom passed there were a lot of things that were just wrong with the whole experience, including playing Christian music when we are a different religion and provided a playlist HOWEVER, this team is COMPLETELY different! They helped us with the funeral and cremation of our beloved Dad. I was prepped to ask all the questions I didn't before and ready to request a transfer. I did not NEED to! The person helping us anticipated the important cultural significance of being present during the cremation and utilized a different crematory which allowed us to do that while they handled the funeral (in the next year or so they will also have that capacity). They net us there and guided us to the proper position for the ceremony. They also informed us we can chose another urn. And offered a streaming of the service. They allowed us kids to privately view him the day before, which was so helpful. The coordinator for the funeral was kind, warm and we never felt rushed this time. She handled the music and slide show, she was open to all of our questions and allowed us to enter early to set up and perform a brief ceremony. She helped this difficult experience be smooth and she was so warm and kind. The care team was amazing! They allowed Dad to look like Dad, they knew how to have him wear the traditional clothing (even though he couldn't fit in his clothes anymore they made it fit perfectly), and they were very communicative when the specific urn I wanted was in back order and cracked when it arrived! She immediately called me when it (along with 4 others to give to siblings) was ready and was so so pleasant to deal with. Beautiful exterior but for as much as we spent here they shorted us on chairs and the chairs provided were flimsy at best. There also is not enough bench seating inside or outside for disabled people to sit and pray, meditate or just give our old legs a rest. Greenhills is the worst cemetery in all of Los Angeles. They violate every FTC law they try to sell you things you don't need. My family has spent millions of dollars with Green Hills yet they steal try to rip us off by selling us vaults we don't need telling us we need embalming when you don't need it. Their prices are not available online for you to view. They want you to call them first that's a violation of the FTC rules right there they take advantage of African-American families, black families they discriminate on the FTC list of honorable mortuaries. Green Hills is not one of them. The audacity to charge a family over $33,000 specified to the family. It is a law that your loved one is embalmed. It is a law that they do cosmetics on your loved one even though they have no knowledge of black hair, Ashley , Kathleen. and Sara Sara promised she would take $354 off of Transportation that they charged us $1139 to transport a loved ones body from Apple Valley to Palace Verdes when we get the invoice, Sara added it back on plus additional fees for a hearse and a van to carry flowers halfway up the cemetery Drive over $500 over $5000 for a vault that we don't need and they said the law requires it. Green Hills will face serious consequences from the FTC. I would not recommend anyone do business with these people unless you're Caucasian.!!! I have every invoice. I don't wanna post it for reasons of addresses and things of that nature. I guess I could black it out eventually and post it. I have proof you could look Green Hills up on the FTC website and see where they stand with integrity and violations.! read more

As far as end of life things go, I've always thought dealing w funeral and burial services would be a hassle. Having now been here twice for funeral and burial services, I am very impressed. The entire area is beautifully landscaped and manicured. Getting to the actual entrance gate using Google Maps is a little confusing, but once you're inside, it is easy to navigate. I have been here one other time to pay my respects to family and can honestly say it is a peaceful and calming space for a final resting place. read more

They take advantage of family during difficult time and act like car sales people. They will withhold a lot of information like options that are less expensive so you feel like your only option is the expensive option they tell you. Green Hills has been part of my family for over 4 decades, they have taken care of over 12 family members service and I can say we have never been disappointed. During the hardest times we always know that they will take care of us. No matter how many years have gone by and evolve, The memorial park is always clean and a beautiful, they put back to the community during holidays. The mortuary team are the best from picking flowers, to music and pictures, they make it easy. My family has been visiting GHMP regularly since my dad passed in 2012. Several other family members are there too. With the sudden death of my brother, we were there once again, but this time my sister and I were more involved with the planning process. Our initial meeting started with Craig Marshall, who discussed everything having to do with the cemetery portion. He was so kind, caring and patient with us. I remember being so impressed with how professional and thorough he was, yet warm and friendly. I also remember thinking, "okay he's good, it's probably all downhill from here." And then Edith was up next, she handled the mortuary arrangements, and it was like a family member was taking us by the hand. Again so thorough and caring, but also so relaxing to talk to her despite our grief. We were sad to hear she would be on vacation and other staff members would be at our services. And then, the dynamic team of Sandy and Drew were there for us at our two days of visitation and the funeral. They were like ninjas, blending into the background but right there anytime we needed them! They understood that the first viewing is crucial because that's the first time the family is seeing their loved one since the hospital. My brother looked so dignified. Please thank your "behind-the-scenes" people for that. Sandy and Drew also set up the room and the flowers and tables so beautifully and then helped us add more personal touches. They even played along when we had all our guests wear aloha attire at the second visitation (because my brother had always said he wanted everyone dressed in Hawaiian shirts when he died!). When we had "open mic", Sandy knew just what to say to our guests in a professionally friendly way. Then at the interment, Sandy guided our friends and family from placing flowers on the casket to signing the vault lid to writing messages on rice paper. We thought it might be too much for our guests but she directed the tasks seamlessly. Many of our friends and family said we did a great job planning our brother's funeral, but of course we couldn't have done it without your impeccably professional staff. I visited my father grave site close to a year after the funeral only to find a unmarked grave. I was told the purchased marker/headstone was not placed yet due to non approval from his second wife. I than filled out an application for a VA headstone marker for my veteran father who serviced our country for 22 years. I faxed the application to the cemetery rep. to sign and process but was told they never got it and then I was told if I ordered the marker and it was delivered it would not be accepted or installed it was not their policy! I then asked for the CEO/owners contact info for Robert McNerney and was told he has nothing to do with markers/headstones. Still don't have his contact info to place my complaints about his company. So my Dad is lying in an unmarked grave! They don't care! I give them no stars. read more

Beautiful cemetery, we have grandparents and aunts and uncles that are laid to rest here. Each time we visit it's always well kept. The office is only open for appointments only due to Covid and they ask that you wear masks. They do have a couple bathrooms open to the public and the security guard at the front will give you a map to find one. If you are coming here for the first time it might be better to call and find out exactly where you need to go because the place is huge. It took us awhile to find the mausoleum our uncle was in. read more

My girlfriend and I made a special trip so that she could put flowers at her late (beloved) husbands grave, unfortunately the guard shack was closed then (on Easter), so we weren't able to ask how to find his gravesite!! She knew the general area where he's buried, but we weren't able to find his headstone!! It broke her heart to not find him... every time she had visited (since 2014) she'd been given directions to find him, but was unable to locate the paperwork from the last time she visited! Due to a stroke she (thankfully) survived shortly after his death her exact memory is compromised... I eventually looked it up online and was able to get the "lot #", but we couldn't find the designations that showed where we needed to go!! (Obviously NOT well marked!) At least we now know the "Lot #", and we're both praying that SOMEONE will be able to help us on our next visit!! read more
