Becoming a go to for weekend pizza for me. Love to get the round crust, which is their version of NY Style I guess. Their sides are pretty good and I don't get them often but their subs are top notch as well. Food always comes hot and tastes great. Delivery drivers are quick and friendly. The only issue I've ever had is it can be hit or miss if they read instructions from online ordering if you're modifying the amount of cheese or sauce (I prefer light). First time ordering from this location. I ordered a medium thin-crust pizza with Pepperoni, Ground Beef and mushroom. I also got the small Green Lantern bread. I meant to order it for delivery but dome how orderer it for pick up. So I scramble up to go get it. I get home and open up the box and it smells incredible. By the way, this is my second time having Green Lantern Pizza. I have lived most of my adult life in Royal Oak. I moved to the area mid 90's. The pizza was once again fantastic. We ordered a double meat Italian sub... which is well worth the money for take out. The sub was excellent and the Pickles and peppers were in a separate bag so they didn't get soggy. This is my first experience with Detroit style pizza and all I can say is "WOW!" How have I not had this all these years? Fantastic!

We've been struggling to find good Detroit style pizza, and we decided that we would give up if Green Lantern wasn't good since many people had recommended the pizza here. I was a bit disappointed that there was no option to dine in at this location but it was not biggie since I live closeby. We got the octopie with jalapenos, pepperoni, mushrooms, and green peppers. We also got a small garden salad and small cheesy bread. The order only took 15 minutes so we just sat at the bench and wrote Yelp reviews for other restaurants haha. The pizza smelled delicious on the ride back home and we were pumped. The small garden salad is actually pretty big and fed two people - pretty standard salad so not much to say about it. Cheesy bread was nice and cheesy and came with a good, thick marinara - I've never experienced bad cheesy bread so I'm not sure that this says much. The moment of truth came with the first bites of pizza though and we were happy. Finally. The octopie is definitely the way to go to get the crunchy crust on all sides. Pizza was nicely seasoned and I didn't have to dump pepper flakes or Parmesan on to make it saltier. Toppings didn't waterlog the pizza, and the ratio of cheese to sauce to toppings was great. Green Lantern saved Detroit style pizza for us but tbh, I still think the NY slice is the way to go. Sorry y'all. read more

I'm a bad judge of pizza, I'll be honest. I've had sweet dough, yeast dough , dense dough, and airy dough. They all taste good. I try to judge on toppings. Mostly on the quality of topping, and amount. So GLP, you kill it in this regard. THERE IS A METRIC TON OF TOPPINGS ON MY ZAR HERE! I don't even understand it. This is the best Detroit-style pizza you'll have. The octopie option caramelizes the crust of each slice. We usually stick to pepperoni, sausage and jalapeños, but we've also done a few others. The bread provides a perfect crunch, and there's an appropriate amount of cheese and sauce on every slice. The wings are pretty good also, but could use a little more cooking time. The Green Lantern is an Oakland County classic. This is their carry out only location, the parking can be tight during peak hours, but that's the only possible issue with this location. The food is just as good as the sit down locations, the staff is just as helpful and friendly. The prices aren't cheap, but they're not expensive for the quality of food you get. The pizza is a lot like Communism. In theory, it shouldn't work. The woman and mine's pizza of choice is usually pepperoni and mushroom. And at Green Lantern, the mushrooms are canned like the laugh track from most sitcoms and the pepperoni is the cheap kind where the edges crinkle up in the oven to form little saucers of grease. But there's one key component that makes Green Lantern's pizza work-- the sauce. It's thick, slightly acidic yet sweet and like a good drummer it holds the whole act together through the rough portions. No where was the power of Green Lantern's sauce more evident than the Lantern bread. On its own, it was just cheese and baked dough. None of the garlic you find in the pizza bread I normally like. But when dipped in the sauce, it becomes almost magical. And since I'm the kind of guy who likes my pizza the same way I like my Rat Pack-- heavily sauced-- Green Lantern works for me. I still dream of this pizza after moving to Ferndale. We always got the big squares that you can eat for days. Every piece was like two normal servings of pizza. The cheese consistency is spot on. Our favorite was the Hawaiian but I also liked the classic pepperoni. The Lantern Bread is just as good as the pizza. They were always on time or early with delivery, especially when you are so hungry that it feels like an eternity- they never made it feel like an eternity.
