I was hosting about 16 out of town employees plus another 20 and wanted to treat them to Detroit style pizza. I was debating between GL & B's. I went with GL bc they could deliver when I needed them and I found a coupon. They were delivered a few minutes early and they looked fantastic!! I chose five different varieties and there was not a single complaint! Everyone loved the pizzas. They were baked to perfection, crisp bottom crust, bubbly, soft centers. Cheese, sauce and topping ratios were great! Plenty of meats, veggies, and yes, sweet pineapple!! Even with all the meats, they were not greasy! I'll return again without question! Thanks GL!

A Detroit staple that very few can match! This is the epitome of what a Detroit deep dish should look and taste like! Topped with a generous amount of cheese and your favorite toppings...the cheese pull is crazy and the caramelized crust and corners sound like heaven when you bite into it! If you're in the D and need a shot of some PIZZA, this one of one! #getsome

I had the antipasto salad and a gluten free supreme-ish pizza. I didn't love the crust, but the cheese & toppings were bomb. Salad was really good. Would go back just for the salad tbh.

This pizza came from the Troy location on Rochester Rd., North of long lake. The photo is from left over pizza. We were so eager to eat the green lantern pizza, we dug in before I could get photos. Delicious pizza. The crust is the perfect thickness. Enough toppings too.

Half of a small round deep dish pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. They do use canned mushrooms but it's still tasty. 1.21.21

Seven years later, so it's time to update this review. This is the closest location to where I live... Only about a five-minute drive. We got takeout tonight because they sent me a free small one-topping pizza for my birthday (which is intriguing, because I don't see anywhere to put in your birthday when you sign up for the eclub... But I digress...). I was able to actually order a two-topping pizza and just pay the difference, which was a little over a dollar. We got pepperoni and mushroom. As others have mentioned on here, they use canned mushrooms, which is a bit disappointing, but not a big deal overall. What differentiates Green Lantern from the other area pizza places for me is that they offer round deep dish pizza, which is very unusual. It's almost like they take two crusts and put one on top of the other, and it's delicious; tonight's was no exception. Their pizzas are a little pricey, which is why I don't order them very often, but they are always very tasty. Since my first review, I've been to this location a few times for takeout (it's takeout-only), and they're usually very prompt. It looked like all of the employees were wearing their masks (correctly), as well, which is definitely a plus.

Look...The pizza is good but the lobby is beyond filthy! Someone needs to clean this up. It's hard to see past it. I've been there multiple times and it's looks like it's never been cleaned.

If you want a quick thick slice of pizza & drink for $7 this is fairly decent. Beats jets if you ask me...

Both times, I ordered a small four-square pizza with pepperoni and black olives, and Loui's absolutely knocked it out of the park. Don't let the word "small" fool you either -- this is a seriously filling pizza. Even a hungry customer is likely to leave full, satisfied, and already thinking about the next visit. What really stood out to me was the generous amount of cheese, the substantial weight of the pizza, and that perfectly crisp crust. It's rich, hearty, and exactly the kind of pizza you hope for when you're craving something substantial. The service was fantastic on both visits as well. My servers were friendly and attentive, and I also really enjoyed the old-school interior. It has that wonderfully dated, nostalgic feel that immediately brought me back to the good old days of going out to restaurants around Detroit as a kid. To me, that atmosphere is part of the charm. If you haven't tried Loui's Pizza yet, trust me -- you're missing out. After hearing about it for years, I can definitely see why it has such a loyal following, and I'll absolutely be back.

We called ahead and reserved a space for 17 people and they were very accommodating. The pizza here is FANTASTIC. The cheese pull was something to behold. It's cash only so if you're in a group make sure everyone has cash since they do not do separate checks. The Greek salad and antipasto salad was excellent and a HUGE recommendation and endorsement on the garlic cheese bread. It was so freaking good I could've just eaten that whole pan and called it a day. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend coming here!

As a New Haven pizza fan, the REAL kind, I was extremely disappointed. I know that after having eaten the real New Haven (Pepe's, Sally's, and Modern), I need to tighten down my expectations, but come on! They have these beautiful ovens, a nice, clean, and pleasant place and they turn out what I would consider pizza no better, perhaps a little less good than Hungry Howies thin crust pizza! New Haven is supposed to be crispy and chewy, NOT soggy. I tried Farmington Hills a few months ago and ate in, then last week tried Birmingham and carried out. For those of you thinking that my carry-out experience may have been bad due to the 3 miles I had to drive home, but I've carried out a LOT of pies from a LOT of locations, and I DO take that into account. There are some positives: The ingredients were impeccable. Fresh, high-quality cheese and the mushrooms were done really well. The pepperoni was of good quality but nothing worth writing home about. There are a lot of great pepperonis in the area. The doneness was great. It wasn't over- or undercooked. The flavor was good, but not, as some have said, amazing. In both cases, the crust was limp and soggy, NOT chewy and crispy. Not in the least. I don't mind if it's a little bit floppy, but not like this. An analogy I might give is to compare Tomatoes Apizza to Modern Apizza in actual New Haven is like comparing Jets Pizza to Loui's. Jet's is fine, but Loui's! (If you know, you know). To me, Modern in New Haven is at par, and not to be sacrilegious to our beloved Detroit Style, with Loui's or Palazzo Di Pizza, so it's not a style issue. My two experiences were both the same, so I don't know what to think. I'll give them one more try at some point.

I opted for the garlic fries upcharge, bringing my total to $19.00. Somehow I justified it because I like these toppings and these toppings weirdly weren't available on a pizza. Or at least I didn't see it via the phone based ordering system. Yes, that's right, this is all of the future check with wrist bands and pour your own beer situation. Don't look for a paper menu, they ain't here. My sandwich wasn't a grilled cheese. It was basically pesto toast with large sun-dried tomatoes and scraps of mozzarella. Baby spinach was just missing. I did inquire to the host (perchance the only actual employee?) and he did talk to the kitchen and I guess they were out. With that information I turned to my friend Robert and said, "You know why we have servers? So they can let you know they're 86 spinach." I suppose I would have adjusted my order had I known this too. What's nuts is, they have ingredients to make a better grilled cheese. I mean, step one: add cheese. Why not mix the ricotta and pesto together and then add like havarti or something that may actually melt and have flavor. The sun-dried tomatoes should be sliced smaller. The garlic fries were fine, but also could have had more flavor. Robert's and neighboring table's pizza looked fine. Is it better than any other place offering Detroit style pizza? Hard to say. I guess I'm not in a hurry to go back. The kind host did make an adjustment to my bill for lack of spinach--but having a server would have prevented that being necessary.

I was heading home hungry when I passed Elephant & Co, a restaurant I had on my radar for months…read more It was way past lunch and well before dinner, so I was surprised by the steady stream of customers in this pizza/tap/game room, a difficult genre to define. Upon entering, the staffer explained the set-up to enjoy a variety of beers, poured and priced by the volume. Located at the back of the restaurant, customers can select beer flavors and serve themselves, no bartender needed. A tab is started and charged based on usage, tracked through the wristband provided to you. I ordered over mobile via a QR code, selecting pretzel sticks with beer cheese dip and a large, Detroit-style pizza. The soft pretzels were tender with a lovely crusty exterior. I inhaled the first pretzel since it was past lunchtime, savoring the salty, cheesy bites. I must admit, the pretzels' saltiness temporarily affected my taste buds because the pizza had little flavor, even with the pepperoni, sausage, and olives. I definitely did not taste the hot honey drizzle. I want to praise the light, airy crust. For a deep dish pizza, it did not sit heavy in my tummy. I also appreciated that the pizza was served on a rack, to allow air circulation and to prevent sogginess. The space was dark and had both large communal tables and smaller, intimate tables. This allowed for larger groups to enjoy community beyond a friend group. The other plus is the board games that are available to pass the time while enjoying various beers.
