Spring Rolls (4 Pcs) and Yellow Curry with Tofu

2nd day in a row and an amazing find nestled in Los Feliz in an unassuming storefront that blends into the neighboring shops like across from Home and the energy restoring meditation space next door. GL has an amazing menu with equally amazing concoctions. Unlike the other V/V+ places that are often Thai influenced, this menu runs the gamut across Smashburgers, great Italian pastas, tasty V pancakes with fresh fruit and toppings (real maple available) and every version of anything that fits into a bun or between slices of bread. The Thai dishes are equally tasty, though the heat levels are decidedly tamer than the East Hollywood equivalents. Medium is pretty on the mild side, but still tasty. Purple rice for the wild rice mix. Fun types of flatbreads to explore. GF also available. Street parking.

Usually, when I go to a restaurant, I measure the quality based on how well I would be able to replicate their food. I'm not the best cook out there but I can hold my own. Green Leaves is capable of concocting something I never would be able to conceive in my wildest dreams. The thought of Vegan is not so appealing to me, but what Green Leaves is able to achieve in their food is beyond my comprehension. Their fried chicken skewers taste like chicken, and have the crispiest, most delicious texture to them. They also do a PHENOMENAL job with the curry. I can do Thai food at home, but this is an experience worth traveling for. My father is vegetarian. If I ever go to LA with him, I'm bringing him here.

    Welcome to GREEN LEAVES Vegan.

Green Leaves Vegan is a Thai restaurant on Hillhurst ave in Los Feliz. What I like about this place is that they use the finest Vegan ingredients to bring customers the healthiest and tastiest food. For instance, their Spaghetti which has ground tofu, spinach, zucchini and onions, was delightful and very tasty. It's slightly sweet tomato sauce makes it interesting. Drinks (water and coconut juice) were refreshing. Their indoor decor was modern with very inviting atmosphere. And their indoor and outdoor seats were very spacious. Service was top notch. Staff were affable, obsequious and professional. Prices were really reasonable. Collectively, this vegan thai restaurant is great spot to eat. I highly recommend you visit if you're in the area.

It is my second time in this restaurant. My husband used to go many times. The base is Thai food, but they gave great hamburgers! Everything is delicious! The service is really nice, the ambiance is so cozy and clean. Good for friends catching up and a date night. It is a good price!

Sweet and sour dinner and fried chicken sandwhich

Unfortunately giving a bad review because when receiving my food the sweet and sour chicken dish was cold when I took my first bite. It was definitely frozen and not cooked throughly before serving. Then when they took it back after acknowledging the issue calmly, they took the plate and returned it after just reheating the whole plate. It's not real meat and it just tasted bad after. So I asked to replace the dish with a different item on the menu and asked for no sauce. Dish comes out with sauce. Then after it all, they only took off 20% off the original dish that they served to me cold ... that was barely eaten from! I don't like writing bad reviews especially with businesses that are not large cooperations but felt that this experience needed to be shared.

Amazing experience, leaving Kaiser and was looking for a Vegan spot for my girlfriend. Trust me, it surprised me with the service and the taste, affordable and easy to get a table.

Love this place! Always a favorite to eat at when visiting LA! It's so health conscious (low fat coconut curry and rice berry) and flavorful. As always decorated for the season (spooky ghosts!) with nice background music. And the service is always quick. Well priced.

You won't be disappointed! This restaurant is spacious and cute. Very friendly service. Decent prices. Solid portions. Onion rings - huge portions, large onion rings, batter is flakey, baked, crispy rather than the usual deep fried onion ring texture Green curry fried rice - you pick from your choice of protein (we got tofu which was seasoned really well). I'd say it's more of the sticky rice variety rather than the dryer fried rice that you may expect. Chicken and pancakes - vegan girlfriend said this was the best vegan pancake she's ever had! The fruits shown in the picture come at an additional cost.

Came here after church service to break bread. A brother highly recommended this place as his go to spot and we were so happy to have came here (we were reluctant because it was vegan and were craving for meat). Parking is a bit challenging. We were able to find street parking, it was a walk but worth it. We ordered their famous pancakes (OG pancakes), spicy chicken sandwich, spring rolls, spicy eggplant, fried banana rolls, salad. We throughly enjoyed everything especially the pancakes and banana rolls were amazing!!! You def have to get that!!! (I was so hungry that I ate most of the food and forgot to take pics lol) Overall: incredibly friendly service, tasty food, and very spacious restaurant. We enjoyed having our fellowship there. The only drawback: it's a bit pricy for the amount of food you get but your taste buds will thank you for it lol.

I really enjoyed my dine-in experience at Green Leaves Vegan on a Monday night in mid October. We were visiting from out of town and came here immediately after checking into our nearby Airbnb. It was not crowded and the restaurant offered a spacious and clean atmosphere. My partner enjoyed the chicken dinner with mashed potatoes as his main and I had the quesadilla with vegan steak and spicy popcorn chicken appetizers as a meal. I think the spicy popcorn chicken was really amazing and I definitely recommend this restaurant for any local vegan. Prices weren't bad and service was fast and kind.

Which menu items (appetizers, soups, breakfast, noodles, etc.) can be made gluten-free? There used to be gluten-free pancakes, but I don't see any indication on the current menu now?

Did you guys really discontinue the Grilled Veggie Sandwich? I haven't ate here in years and called to make an order for pickup only to find out they discontinued it:(

Unfortunately, we discontinue the Grilled Veggie Sandwich due to less demand. However, our lentil sandwich is also a great option to try out.

Hangari Kalguksu is doing really well for themselves! It is good to see. There have been so many changes, but I am not a fan of the changes. What was once meticulously fresh prepared side dishes are now generic looking out of a jar side dishes. They have started to feature more things and have expanded their menu, as well as expanded their shop so that it is much bigger. Still packed! Parking is still valet and a hassle. The waiters and waitresses now speak perfect english, which was nice. Kalguksu is still very good. Overall, it feels more commercial than homely now. As a commercial restaurant, it is good. However, not a place I would travel for anymore. I can get this experience from most local spots. I am keeping this review at a 5 star, because it still is worthy of a 5 star. However, it is a lesser 5 star than 13 years ago.

Parking is always a pain in Ktown, but they offer valet for around $5, which makes things a lot easier. This time we ordered the Pork Belly + Jowl Bossam Combo (Large), and I have to say the jowl was the star of the meal. It was super tender and even better than the pork belly. They give you everything you need to make your own wraps. We also got the Budae Army Kalguksu, and the portion was huge. If you're a fan of army stew, this was fire. It came loaded with Spam, sausage, cheese, and plenty of their knife cut noodles. This place gets pretty busy, so expect a wait during peak hours. Even with a full restaurant, the service was still friendly and attentive. I'd definitely come back for the bossam, and next time I want to try more of their other kalguksu dishes .

I recall attempting to visit here once at 7pm on a weekday, but immediately walking away because of how busy it was. My expectations for Asian food are quite high since I grew up in the SGV, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Joy! Dan Dan Noodles: Amazing noodle texture with very rich, flavorful peanut sauce. Is it not spicy and sweeter compared to traditional Sichuan versions of Dan Dan Noodles. I would pair this with the chili sauce for that extra kick. Braised Pork Rice: This particular dish did not stand out to me, but I have seen other great reviews about it so maybe it was just an off-day. The flavors were a little bland and it simply did not stand out to me. There are definitely better braised pork rices out in the SGV. Thousand Layer Pancake with Egg & Cheese: So packed with flavor while the outside was nicely flaky. It did not feel overly greasy whatsoever and I loved the inclusion of melted cheese. Hakka Mochi: The mochis did not have any filling inside of them, but they were overflowing (in a good way) with black sesame and peanut powder on top of it. They were so warm, chewy, and moist!

While the broth was tasty, it wasn't cold :( Kind of defeats the purpose, especially when you're waiting in the heat for a table and the room itself was pretty warm. The bulgogi was pretty tasty as well, but serving was really small and the daengjang soup not all that great. Loved the purple rice though! I do like that they offer free tea, but is offset with the charging of to go boxes :). I realize it's only $0.50, but it did keep me from ordering an extra dish which would have guaranteed the need for containers. Thankfully we only needed three :). Parking is valet only and the place was packed even though we chose an off peak time of 2:00pm. $3 isn't bad, but even valet had a hard time keeping up so keep parking in mind when visiting.
