This is the best Chinese restaurant I have found in the state of Maine. The luncheon specials are an amazing value. The pork wonton soup is huge and very flavorful. Greenleaves is my favorite Chinese place in town. My family and I have been coming here since I was a kid. Great food and friendly service. The new expansion upstairs near the bar is very nice, and I believe they have a Sushi bar now! (I know, weird, right?) Consistently high quality and deliscious food.

We visited Maine and stayed in Wells at the Holiday Guest House Bed & Breakfast (great place). Anyway, on our drive back to Boston, Logan, we stopped at the Meadowbrook strip mall in York, Maine and found a Chinese restaurant called Green Leaves or Greenleaves (don't know for sure) but we had a PuPu platter that was outstanding. Food was not greasy, like some other Chinese restaurants we've dined at. We decided to give the Sushi a try, and my boyfriend, Roger, said it was outstanding. I am not a Sushi person so I will have to go by what he said. Nice to know that when we visit Maine next year we will have this little gem to look forward to. Nice!!! read more

Best Chinese food in the area. We have never sat down to eat but have had takeout. The food was hot and fresh, not reheated like some other places in the area. Service was fine no issues just takeout. They also give plenty of condiments duck sauce, hot mustard etc.... Mostly got appetizers chix fingers, boneless spareribs( fresh and great) egg rolls and Lo Mien( Lo mien was a tad greasy but still tasted good. I go every few months for sushi and a beer with my husband. For a sushi bar in a strip mall in Maine, the Japanese food is pretty good. Service is usually great: friendly, helpful and welcoming. The place would have typically been a four for me. That is until my most recent visit. We were promptly seated. Then the rudest waitress in my history of dining came over and slapped down the spiral bound menus, like actually made the silverware jump. She then asked for our drink order. I was trying to find a beer we've had before by looking at the beer list that was on the table and was about to say we needed a minute when she pulled the menu out of my hands and turned to page two while sneering "drinks are here." The desired beer was located on the beer list and ordered. She promptly returned with the beer and asked for the order, but I said we needed a few minutes. A few minutes later, her complete antithesis came to take our order. He was polite, smiled at us and answered a question we had. I was hoping she was gone for good, but it was not too be. She brought our appetizer seaweed salads and when we finished, the sushi rolls. The platter they came on was too large to fit between the plates on the table so instead of using her free hand to reposition the plates, she shoved the platter between the sending the plates off the placemats. She left, but kept marching past us. Literally, a militaristic huff while inspecting people's progress towards being done, paying and out of there. The pleasent server brought our bill and we paid. No sooner had my husband signed the slip, when she pulled out from under his hand, turned and left. It's clear that others who work here try to please customers and make going out for a meal not seem to be an inconvenience for the server. However, the atmosphere this one woman creates ruins the work of others. read more

I feel compelled to write this poor review because of the very poor customer service we received at this restaurant. The food is OK, but my review will focus on the service. There were 5 of us for dinner Friday night. The restaurant was busy but there was no wait. We were seated by the host and promptly waited for 10 minutes and finally flagged someone down to take our drink order. Our drinks arrived promptly but no one stuck around to take a food order. At this point, we did not even know who our wait staff was. Eventually someone arrived and we ordered appetizers. She also wanted us to order our meals but we were not ready. She seemed put off by that. Now the fact that I could sense this was some foreshadowing of things to come. Our appetizers arrived promptly and were delivered by other staff. We waited another 10 minutes to order dinner and finally had to flag down our wait staff. Again she seemed put out that she had to stop and take our order! Our dinners arrived promptly and delivered by other staff. As the plates were hitting the table, our wait person came over and asked if we had everything we needed, did not stay for an answer and left. We did not see her again until she delivered the bill. My tip is always based on the service and overall experience at the restaurant. 20% is my customary, but if the service is excellent, I will often tip more like 30%. On the other side, if the service is sub par, I tip less. Given my experience, I chose to tip her 10%. I based this on the quality of the service. After I handed her the total in cash, she came back and told me that we had underpaid. At first, I was confused. Did I count the $ incorrectly? I checked and there was enough money for the bill and a 10% tip. When I said that it was the correct amount, she said it was not enough of a tip. I was dumbfounded, as were my friends. Needless to say, we will be finding a new Chinese restaurant in York. read more

I haven't been to York for a few years but when I did come always went to green leaves Chinese restaurant, I finally made back to York and also Green Leaves but must be under new ownership because food was not very good , in fact it was horrible . I do understand that restaurants can have a bad day and I am pretty forgiving but when I go there specifically to place my to go order instead of calling it in because I hate getting to go orders that are wrong and they still get it wrong I'm done and won't give them my business anymore. read more

Sorry to say that our favorite Chinese place is off our list. Don't know who is cooking but today was awful. The beef (?) and broccoli (did not know what the meat was) and the chicken (?) and broccoli were slimy. Rice was tasteless and chicken fingers were over-battered and doughy. Just not a good day at Greenleaves. Don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. read more

I grew up in York and now we vacation here and Green Leaves is one of the few restaurants still around. Probably because their food and service is top notch! They have great Chineese food and cocktails and recently added sushi to the menu which is a bonus. You can eat in or get takeout. We have done both many many times. read more

Me and my family have been going to Greenleaves all my life. There food is great, the price is good and they make the food really fast considering that there always so crowded. I've never actualy eaten in the resteraunt, we always get takeout. If you ever eat there I would recomend getting the scallion pancakes and there veggi lo mein. My fiancee had a craving for Chinese food, and we wanted to have a great lunch on my birthday, so based on reviews we went here. Well, sadly, it was terrible, and we didn't even eat. How can that be? We walked in, and next to the staff who were talking with their mouths full, I saw a banh mi sandwich (yum!) on the table. As we were lead to a table, I said to the server guy, "hey is that a banh mi??" and he said, "yeah, it's from New York." Well alright. So we sat down in the cold, dark room, amongst nobody else. We looked briefly at the lunch menu which contained odd combinations of things. We wanted vegetable lo mein -- that's it. But you have to get it with chicken fingers (which I cannot imagine contained less than 2 beaks a piece). We were given water, and asked if we were ready to order, mere seconds after sitting. Give us a minute, please. And then we decided to bolt. It was so sad and weird we decided to leave the parking lot altogether and just eat anywhere else. Come on, people. It's not hard to have customer service and a nice environment. read more

PLEASE check out the back of this restaurant, it is not very clean and I've seen them cut meat out on the ground , leave food all day out by the door (with nothing covered) and the birds are always going over to the food. Trucks enter the back and the dirt is everywhere . I know a lot people love this this place but the kitchen could use some major clean up and the employees could use to take a lesson or too.From what I can see I'm sorry to say I would not eat there, I cann't imagine what I don't see that happens in the kitchen. My husband and I have been going to Greenleaves every Friday night for over 10 years! We have so much respect for Andy Wang and his staff. They always make us feel special. The food is so amazing that ill try anything on the menu without even worrying of I will like it. My favorites are the chicken wings (they make them well done for us), the spare ribs on the bone, the chicken won ton soup and the chicken lettuce wrap! But as I said before.. I love everything.. Lol. The sushi- spicy tuna roll is awesome too! If you are in the York area and you are sick of lobster rolls and chowder..stop at Greenleaves.. You won't be disappointed! If it's Friday.. This place has great food, however the service was awful. After waiting an hour for take out, They forgot a part of the order. When we returned to pick it up, the manager accused us of not paying for the few drinks we had while waiting. We certainly had paid the bill. He was loud and very inappropriate in his accusations. After producing the slip to show we paid, we took the food he has forgotten to pack and left without an apology. We won't be returning. Food was good, but I prefer to spend my money where I will get treated properly. read more

My wife is celiac and we have traveled to the Green Leaves twice before and had good food. They CLAIMED to have a gluten free menu that we order from. We went again this past Sunday evening and things did not go so well. My wife got sick later that evening, lasted Monday and Tuesday. I wrote and e-mail to the restaurant Monday and got no reply. If you offer a gluten free menu then PLEASE do as you advertise! My poor wife has suffered for days thanks to your service. We for sure will not be back and I would warn others to be VERY CAREFUL ordering off the gluten free menu.....if your celiac I would skip this place all together. Very sad. read more

It's pretty rare that I give anywhere a five star rating, but this place deserves it. The food was good, reasonably priced, but most importantly: THEY COULD FEED MY WIFE! The woman has 17 fruit/seafood allergies and Celiac's Disease, but not only did they have a VERY extensive gluten free menu but "boss-boss" (the owner of the restaurant) either prepares all of the food or knows all of the recipes and was able to weed out what she couldn't eat based on her allergies. Absolutely awesome. Not only does this place have excellent and friendly staff but the food was really fantastic. Some of the best chinese I've had especially since they use water chestnut flour for some dishes for the breading, so dishes like General Tsos are gluten free. I was worried about water chestnuts being nuts, but learned their more of a root like potatoes so there's no nuts. Was worried to double check about no nuts (for allergen concerns) with the staff due to a potential language barrier but they made me us very comfortable. Their website is on point, they're very dedicated to gluten free dining, so appreciative of this! Of course, it's important to double check based on your own allergen concerns but they did a great job for us. Again, super friendly staff, really great Chinese food. Our whole group loved everything. The decor might be a little dated inside, but the place is clean and the food was great! Definitely will be back. read more

I must say that this was one of the VERY BEST that we had ever been to. Have been going since they opened, years ago. They have changed owners once that I know about. They also have lost a few stars from me. I originally would have given 6 if that had been possible but know 3.5. They have expanded and added sushi and a bar. This should not have changed there quality but something has changed (cook's?) maybe. Food a bit greasy, fried rice over cooked, other items not the same fresh great taste that it once was. I won't give up on them yet and I am going to let them know of my thoughts. They should turn it around I think. Fantastic food. The server had a bit of an attitude as we didn't understand how to order, but once you get past the attitude the food was great! The gluten free was the best we've ever had at a restaurant. The portions are huge and dishes are meant to be shared and not individual servings, so one dish goes a long way. They have the best coconut chicken and mango mousse cake that I've ever had! I also love their chicken lettuce wrap. Don't miss their pupu platter either, it's really good too.
