This is still unreal pizza........but I ordered via phone tonight and was told 15min upon arrival and Waiting 15:turned to 30. I understand if they'd got busy upon my arrival. If you saw me I am not going to starve.. In the end I got the good fellows with added sausage. I will say charge me more for sausage and put more on the pizza. I am a fan of square pizza but I like sauce on every bite. Does Detroit do it by plopping sauce in the middle over the cheese and toppings on each slice? Unsure but not my jam.. I was excited to try this style of pizza. The crust with the crispy melted cheese were the enticement but ours was too far burnt not charred. It was like biting into a charcoal briquet; or perhaps a spoonful of ashtray remints. The sauce was very strong like a condensed stewed tomato paste. We've had every pizza we know of in York, Kittery, and Portsmouth. We were late in the game with Dante's because the pizza looked too small. Vacationing in Maine. What a joy. Tons of lobster. Clams. Mussels... Last day here, we wanted something new. Something different. We had driven by Dante's a few times on our way to and from When Pigs Fly and the house, and we had looked it up on Yelp and discovered that it had some limited hours(as does everything during the early fall up here), so we werent' able to have it until today. I want to preface this review by saying if you're looking for a light pizza, do not come here. If you're looking for a thin crust experience I would say go elsewhere. There are some great options for pizzas of all types in the greater York area, so you can assuredly find something you like ... that being said. This pizza is phenomenal. I had heard of the Detroit Style pizza craze back home, and never wanted to invest in a pan ... I'll be buying one when I get home. The crust was buttery and flaky (imagine something akin to a Pilsbury biscuit with a great firm crunchy butter outer crust while still being flaky). The toppings were great (pepperoni that cups up? yes please) . The pizza was greasy, buttery and delicious. We will be making this a yearly visit,probably 2 times most weeks. Service was quick, and the online ordering seemed janky(we called it in) would definitely recommend this place. Went to Dante's Detroit Pizza with the family and we enjoyed it...It has counter ordering, with pager service and a pick up window when the food is ready. The pizzas may be the size of a small but they are anything but. Thick, cheesy, and quite honestly delicious. Each pizza has 4 corner slices. We got a pepperoni and a mushroom/sausage and they both were crunchy, soft and fresh. Very filling. Two out of the four slices were enough for us each. My kids got mozzarella sticks and Caesar salad and both enjoyed their meals as well. All in all, we all loved our meals and will be back again. We got a cheese pizza and a bacon. Both were excellent! The sauce is outstanding and a bit spicy which we like. These are deep dish pizza's. They use oil on the bottom of the pan which helps it keep moist. Cheese is very good and we especially liked the almost full lengths of bacon. I would say for an adult it would be one pizza per person. Prices are very reasonable. Only negative was we got the onion rings and were extremely yes extremely too salty. We could not even eat them. As a person who was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit I can safely say that they nailed it. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and plenty of seats were available. The restaurant looked clean and the bartender was polite and knowledgeable. We called ahead to see if they had in person seating or if it was carry out only. The place has a bar where you order drinks and food and they bring the pizza to you. The server and a cook both came by and asked how our meal was and we had to hand it to them, it was delicious. The sauce isn't as sweet as some of the pizzas I've had from Buddy's or Cloverleaf in Detroit but it was just as good. We ordered a pepperoni and cheese and a barbecue chicken pizza, which was the special today. The pepperoni pizza came with plenty of gooey cheese and they nailed the cheese on the crust, which is basically fried cheese as well. It's very important to go into this without comparing to other pizza places. It's not the norm for this area. It's not a house of pizza. We ordered the classic cheese pizza and an Italian. I had requested mayo and for it to be toasted. I was surprised that only the bread was toasted. The rest of the sandwich was cold. Once again, not expected, but different and still good. The Italian had fresh vegetables and quality meats. The price was a little steep for an Italian, but only by a couple dollars. Still a great Italian and would buy, again. The pizza comes in one size. It is cut up into 4 squares. Very crunchy on the edges, soft on the inside, thick, but airy. Based on my observation, it appears the sauce is on top of the cheese. While you would think that it's expensive for 4 squares, because of the thickness, it is quite filling. They also provided a cup of sauce to dip the pizza, if that's something you want to do. See everything in the pictures. Very nice staff. Great place to sit and eat or takeout, which is what we did. We have a few pizza places in the area, but there's only one place, other than Dante's, that we go to for good pizza, which is a house of pizza, which is a different style than Dante's.
