The pizza was some of the best I've ever had! My family and I had an excellent experience!

Absolutely delicious Detroit-style pizza. You'd expect it to be pretty heavy, but it honestly wasn't the dough was surprisingly light with great flavor, while still having that perfect Detroit-style crust. Chicken tenders and onion rings for an app were excellent highly recommend! The outdoor seating area is a huge plus too. Plenty of space to hang out, and pets are welcome, which makes it an awesome spot to grab some pizza and relax outside. Definitely recommend Dante's if you're in the York, Maine area. This is still unreal pizza........but I ordered via phone tonight and was told 15min upon arrival and Waiting 15:turned to 30. I understand if they'd got busy upon my arrival. If you saw me I am not going to starve.. In the end I got the good fellows with added sausage. I will say charge me more for sausage and put more on the pizza. On 1/2 the pizza my wife said she got 3 pieces ....... Charge me more. Still love Dante's. Every day makes you better and better. read more

We just don't have enough Detroit style pizza around here but it's a good thing Dante's is the one doing them! Cute little spot with outdoor seating, and we were immediately greeted in entering from the most pleasant employee. I can't remember what the pizza we got was called but it had the cupped pepperoni, jalapeños, hot honey, and ricotta. It came out hot and didn't take long. The crust was absolutely to notch, and the pizza actually had a good amount of spice to it. I loved the ricotta on it, it was to die for. I'll definitely be coming back for more pizza. read more

We had a very poor experience!!! First, we ordered takeout food, said to be a half-hr wait. We showed up 30 minutes later, only to be told that it was going to be another 15 minutes because their dinner crowd had been served before us. About 15 minutes later, our food was ready out of the oven. ** We are now assuming that our order was rushed being cooked and then actually assembled (because we had already been inconvenienced with the extra wait time). ** The meatball sub had no provolone cheese on it at all, and a most meager amount of tomato sauce. One of the specialty pizzas that we ordered with a side of meatballs on top had next to no meatballs on top at all. You had to literally search for any pieces of meatball. Like WTF level of disappointing!!! Next, (for reference) we have eaten real deal five star Detroit pizza prior to this particular restaurant. This restaurant has won awards for their pizza, and we were truly bewildered as to how that could even be possible..... THE GREASE!!!! LIKE HOLY SH*T THE GREASE!!!!! We've never seen any food ever with even near this much grease!!!!! The bottom of the pizza box had literally a pool of grease on the parchment paper. Like you'd have to be absolutely hammered to want to eat this pizza with this amount of grease on it‍ It was that bad - - like we couldn't fathom how there would be regulars eating at this place without having a serious heart attack. Our bodies felt truly violated the next day and we are very fit, exercising individuals. To each their own, but we will not be returning. Also, for the record, we never ever write reviews. Gave them another chance and was not disappointed. Ordered buffalo chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks. Absolutely perfect! The buffalo sauce wasn't overpowering and the mozzarella was just right. Despite the High prices for a pizza that really only serves 2 people, and the fact that theyre pushy about leaving a tip, dont expect any real service here. If you order a drink they are pushing people to keep the bar tab open. Owner is condescending and rude towards customers. read more

I am a fan of square pizza but I like sauce on every bite. Does Detroit do it by plopping sauce in the middle over the cheese and toppings on each slice? Unsure but not my jam.. The crisp on the edges is delicious. DELICIOUS little pepperoni's that cup up- those are the good ones! Not a huge fan of chunky sauce either (tomato and onion.) I was excited to try this style of pizza. The crust with the crispy melted cheese were the enticement but ours was too far burnt not charred. It was like biting into a charcoal briquet; or perhaps a spoonful of ashtray remints. The sauce was very strong like a condensed stewed tomato paste. This is great pizza for York. It's small for the price. The sauce does not taste homemade or particularly fresh. There's a bit too much cheese on the pizza. Feels like chewing gum at times. The crust is an afterthought and needs better structure. However, they were open and it was ready quickly. Again, this is decent for York Maine. Volo in Swampscott MA smokes this place. read more

BEST PIZZA IN TOWN We order pizza all through football season and then go back to fish, chicken, salad until the season starts again. We've had every pizza we know of in York, Kittery, and Portsmouth. We were late in the game with Dante's because the pizza looked too small. Then we took a chance and ordered the Goodfella's with pepperoni added. I am literally full after one piece. The generous amounts of ricotta makes it for me. And great pepperoni. Not my type of pizza. The sauce is in a small container and it's not on the pizza you put it on yourself, not exactly a big pie just slices of pizza. It was cold it's greasy and just not my style. Vacationing in Maine. What a joy. Tons of lobster. Clams. Mussels... Last day here, we wanted something new. Something different. We had driven by Dante's a few times on our way to and from When Pigs Fly and the house, and we had looked it up on Yelp and discovered that it had some limited hours(as does everything during the early fall up here), so we werent' able to have it until today. I want to preface this review by saying if you're looking for a light pizza, do not come here. If you're looking for a thin crust experience I would say go elsewhere. There are some great options for pizzas of all types in the greater York area, so you can assuredly find something you like ... that being said. This pizza is phenomenal. I had heard of the Detroit Style pizza craze back home, and never wanted to invest in a pan ... I'll be buying one when I get home. The crust was buttery and flaky (imagine something akin to a Pilsbury biscuit with a great firm crunchy butter outer crust while still being flaky). The toppings were great (pepperoni that cups up? yes please) . The pizza was greasy, buttery and delicious. We will be making this a yearly visit,probably 2 times most weeks. Service was quick, and the online ordering seemed janky(we called it in) would definitely recommend this place. It was also an awful drive home, sitting in a car trying to get back to the house with the pizza smells wafting out of the box. read more

I was so excited to try this place as they were offering vegan cheese pizza!! The veggie pizza was incredible. The amount of cheese on it was awesome. They don't skimp here. Well worth the prices. I'm told that the Hawaiian pizza with regular cheese was also the best around!! Also ordered was a meatball sub - roll was nice and fresh and meatballs were perfect!! On both pizzas - Nice thick slices. Crispy edges. Some grease but pizza and grease go hand in hand. The wait time when I called the order in was 20-25 minutes. Went to Dante's Detroit Pizza with the family and we enjoyed it...It has counter ordering, with pager service and a pick up window when the food is ready. The pizzas may be the size of a small but they are anything but. Thick, cheesy, and quite honestly delicious. Each pizza has 4 corner slices. We got a pepperoni and a mushroom/sausage and they both were crunchy, soft and fresh. Very filling. Two out of the four slices were enough for us each. My kids got mozzarella sticks and Caesar salad and both enjoyed their meals as well. All in all, we all loved our meals and will be back again. Great and friendly service. The fact that Detroit Style Pizza is available this far north on the East Coast is surprising in itself. The pie was delicious and just like I remember it. Finally made it here (I'm a poor planner so everytime I came down to York, they were closed) . The food was bomb!!! I am the only one in my house who eats gluten-free and even my husband loved my pizza 5/5 stars is an understatement. I am not sure why there are any negative reviews, but to each their own. We got a cheese pizza and a bacon. Both were excellent! The sauce is outstanding and a bit spicy which we like. These are deep dish pizza's. They use oil on the bottom of the pan which helps it keep moist. Cheese is very good and we especially liked the almost full lengths of bacon. I would say for an adult it would be one pizza per person. Prices are very reasonable. Only negative was we got the onion rings and were extremely yes extremely too salty. We could not even eat them. As a person who was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit I can safely say that they nailed it. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and plenty of seats were available. The restaurant looked clean and the bartender was polite and knowledgeable. We called ahead to see if they had in person seating or if it was carry out only. The place has a bar where you order drinks and food and they bring the pizza to you. The server and a cook both came by and asked how our meal was and we had to hand it to them, it was delicious. The sauce isn't as sweet as some of the pizzas I've had from Buddy's or Cloverleaf in Detroit but it was just as good. We ordered a pepperoni and cheese and a barbecue chicken pizza, which was the special today. The pepperoni pizza came with plenty of gooey cheese and they nailed the cheese on the crust, which is basically fried cheese as well.
