Green Oak Tree Service is terrific and helps me now sleep well at night! I had a Hackberry tree that towered over my house, my lawn and street that was half dead and needed removal. I put this off for about 18 months but when a big branch crashed down on my lawn, it needed to go, and go quickly (nobody hurt, no property damage). I called for four different quotes. Sergio Montoya was, by far, the best price. Aside from that, his customer service was top notch. He delivered his written quote the day he promised (two days after I called him). When I called with a couple of questions, he responded quickly and professionally. I awarded him the job on Monday afternoon and on that day he applied for the permit. He advised that he can begin the work on this 40-50 foot tree on Saturday if the permit was approved by then. He kept me in the loop by calling me on Wednesday advising that the permit was approved and asked if he can start the next day at 8:am. I gladly agreed. He arrived at 7:45 with his heavy equipment and after about 5 minutes, he and another began the work. I wasn't there for the job, but when I arrived home, the tree was completely cut down. Two separate neighbors saw me when I arrived home at and told me they were amazed at Sergio's efficiency and skill as they watched him do the work. The heavy logs were neatly arranged near the curb and were removed the next day. Sergio came on Saturday and removed the stump and cleanly piled the wood chips outside of the stump hole as I requested. He removed as many as the surface roots as he could without damaging the lawn. This was the best home investment I made this year. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sergio and Green Oak Tree Service. His work, his promise and his word was well kept allowing me now to sleep very well at night. This would be a 3-4 star review IF they hadn't bounced a tree limb off our roof, hitting our expensive Anderson window and ripping the screen. I cut down plenty of trees when I was younger and know exactly what I need done. I had three quotes with disparate prices. One was a ridiculous $3K for a large elm branch and half a Linden (about 6 branches). When Sergio Montoya quoted us, he was Final Cut Tree Service. Not any more. Anyhow, scheduling was a bit of back and forth but eventually we settled on a date and the 2-man crew arrived on time. They put wood down over the sewer cover and the back yard and squeezed their picker truck down the driveway. Sergio goes up in the basket and lollipop man (never introduced himself) did the groundwork and hauling to the street. I stepped in to help clear the yard because it was a nice day and I had other things to do after they left. I hauled about 50% of the limbs to the curb. So when they were done and I was writing the check, I mentioned they did a good job EXCEPT for ruining the screen. Sergio didn't believe me. I got him into the house, showed him the rip and blew sawdust off the new (only) tear. Nothing. No sorry, no "we'll take $20 off the bill" (because you're a nice woman who helped us do our job). Sheesh. So while the price point was pleasant, the screen tear really made me unhappy. If they had been just a little more careful, they wouldn't have bounced the limb off our roof. I wanted two branches removed from another tree but Sergio wouldn't budge. Said he didn't do spikes in winter. So I'll be getting out my big girl ladder and cutting those branches myself. *sigh* read more

Timely, professional, efficient, nicely priced service, and highly recommend. I had a dying willow tree that was estimated to be over 100 years old. It was near power lines, including one large limb over the power lines. After receiving estimates from various companies, Green Oak Tree Service was the most reasonably priced. Sergio and his crew arrived on time for the estimate and the 2 days required to completely remove the tree and stump. They applied for permitting from the village right away, and were flexible to work in coordination with ComEd. The neighboring yards and site were cleaned up immediately and the wood was removed on the same day. They were very careful to maneuver their equipment on a narrow driveway to the back yard without damaging anything (driveway, garage, fencing, AC unit, vegetable garden, etc.). The 3-man crew worked wonderfully together. They cut a special piece of the trunk of this once majestic tree for me to keep.
