And I find it odd that after 1 year, Jennifer from Windy City posts a comment that they sent someone out to clean the stump grindings. They did not. I paid my landscaper $150.00 to do it and to remove the smaller roots that were left behind shortly after the tree was taken down. I'm sorry, Windy City, but you have either mistaken me for another customer or are just completely wrong. My review just dropped a star. To future customers-make sure you get EVERYTHING you expect Windy City to do in writing. One should not have to request that a crew come back to clean up. It is in the contract and expected. And a comment should not be posted to a customer review 14 months after the service has been performed. read more

We moved into a new home and decided to do some landscaping in the front of the house on a Saturday, which included removing 2 shrubs. The first was "easy" enough. The second had roots that seemed to go on forever and we simply couldn't get beneath them. We called no less than 10 different tree removal companies and almost all said they had no same-day availability (we were concerned about leaving the safety of leaving the dug-out hole). Jennifer and Windy City Tree Service were one of only 2 who said they could squeeze us in. I sent some pictures of the stump/root issue and they were able to provide a firm quote that was almost 50% less expensive than the other company with same-day availability. They arrived on time. Unloaded their root shredder and within 10 mins had completely gotten rid of the roots. They also hauled away the branches/roots of the other shrub. They then cleaned the area and shoveled the dirt back in to cover the hole. All-in maybe 20 mins. Will be hiring them again in the spring to remove some other shrubs. Highly recommend! read more

This company is untrustworthy and unprofessional. They missed our initial appointment without notice and then showed up unannounced on a Sunday while family was visiting. We took time out of that visit to show them around the property. Jennifer provided us with a quote which we accepted. Once she learned that her bid was the lowest, she indicated they could not move forward with the contract and asked to come out again to provide a re-quote so they could charge closer to what the other company had quoted. 7 reasons NOT to use Windy City. I had them prune a large tree. 1. Reached out for an estimate, they didn't respond, then Al randomly showed up without prior notice (when I had guests over) After scheduling they rescheduled 2 times. On the date of service showed up 2 hours late without email/text/call. 2. Was rushing to trim, dropping large pieces down without using a rope - one fell and ripped brand new screen on my porch - His reaction was that "it's not a big deal, I can easily patch it" which he didn't do anyway. After my husband talked to them, they started to lower branches using a rope. 3. Guys on the ground were carelessly stepping all over my flower bed and smashed hostas. 4. Moved large heavy planters and told me I have to have my husband move it back (which we had to both do ourselves) when he had 3 guys who could've moved them back. 5. Cleanup was not clean - there was debris on the street, my driveway, backyard and neighbors side - they cleaned up large pieces and left. 6. Poor customer service: Never even offered an apology or discount out of curtesy for damaging the property. Andrea, scheduling person had an attitude when I was trying to confirm scheduling so I could arrange my work schedule accordingly. 7. CODVID - 1 of 3 guys wearing a mask UNDER his nose. In November 2020 Windy City Tree Service came out to give four of our oak trees a major thinning out of their trunks and branches. Two major trunks from two separate trees were threatening our neighbors roof. Windy Tree Service performed very professionally. They arrived on time did the job as promised and cleaned up not only my yard, but the neighbors yard afterwards and in great detail. Removed all debris and were very careful of the gardens that were planted nearby. My wife and I have called on the again for removal of overgrown bushes and to replace them. This wasn't the first company we called but definitely happy we kept looking after the first one didn't work out! The prices seemed fair considering all the work they put into it. It took two days in total to completely finish with the tree removal but because of how old and HUGE this tree was, it makes sense. The group of men that came were all very friendly- worked quickly and so professionally! They even cut up some tree trunks into smaller pieces so we can keep for some projects and fire pits! The clean up was amazing- no debris was left behind- almost no sign they were there except the missing tree of course! They even added wood chips/ mulch to the front of our yard for us. We also had them trim up our front yard bushes and they were very neatly done! We hope to use them in the future for other yard work that we may need in the future. read more

Wasted my time. Extremely unprofessional!! I call them almost a week ago and asked if they service my area, they said yes and they would have someone go out and look at the tree and stomp that I wanted removed to give me an estimate on Monday. I called on a Friday. Monday came and the young lady called said she couldn't do make it by Monday and could she reschedule for Tuesday. I told her no problem. They totally butchered my trees in the backyard. Instead of trimming they did a wholesale chopping. I asked for the branches to be cut 10 to 12 feet above the ground and instead they hacked full limbs. To make things worse, they notified me when they would be out and then they show up a different day unannounced. I certainly would have been home and could have stopped them. Instead they just merrily went along chopping away. I would never recommend Windy City for any tree trimming. read more

They provided some general pruning services around my yard, climbed to the top of my 40+ foot Sycamore tree and cut back all of the branches that were dangerously over hanging the house, cut down a dying tree and replanted a beautiful dogwood in its place.
