First Time at Green Onion & Definitely Not Our Last! What better way to unwind after work than with good food, drinks, and a birthday celebration with the work crew?! Last night, we celebrated our coworker's birthday at Green Onion Mexican Restaurant in Moreno Valley, and this was our first time dining here. I'm happy to say it was a great choice! Our server Carlos deserves a special shoutout! He was super friendly, patient, and attentive, especially with our large group of 12 people. He helped us with our orders and recommended several dishes, and honestly, his suggestions did NOT disappoint! Everything was delicious, and the portions were nice and generous. They also have a bar, and the drinks were great--perfect for a little after-work celebration! We had such a fun evening celebrating, eating, laughing, and relaxing after a long shift. Great food + great service + great company = a winning combination! Thank you, Carlos, for taking such good care of our group! We'll definitely be back to try more dishes. First time here and thought it was ok. Hubby's coworker recommended this place and when I looked it up I was so excited to try it. Enchiladas are by far one of my favorite Mexican dishes. Everyone who works there is super friendly. The place was clean and smelled like your typical Mexican restaurant. The rice and beans were my favorite part. I wasn't a fan of their enchiladas sauce. Our server was very slow and my hubby and son ran out of drinks fast. Chips and salsa was (as my kids would call it) mid. I've been coming to this restaurant for 15 plus years with my family. It's literally my most favorite restaurant in the I. E. The prices are super reasonable, and the service is top-notch and the food is delicious. my go to dish is the ground beef burrito Sonora style, which means it's a wet burrito with guacsauce and sour cream on top. How to get upgraded to a double Cadillac magarita 1:1: get a regular Cadillac margarita spilled on you! but seriously our server was super sweet and any mistakes made he made sure to make it right! I didn't get his name which I feel so bad about now! We came here as a family of 12 on Saturday around 3pm and we were sat down around 320ish. Green onion is just good Mexican food and is great for a larger size party. I ordered a Cadillac magarita, and the chicken flautas w/ black beans and Spanish rice. Other family members ordered the shrimp Bahia meal, chicken nachos, beef nachos, steak fajitas, and cheese enchilada and beef taco. The food was all delicious and we all ate way too much!! My cousin and I met up here for lunch. It has a sentimental place in her heart as it's where she used to come often with her parents, my aunt and uncle. Therefore, it felt comfortable to me in a nostalgic way, too. I think it felt this way to other diners as well, as a few different tables could be heard talking and asking about families and such. The caring about and connection with customers genuinely shined through. I can see how this would be a go-to spot for locals. Clean booth & table, friendly attentive service, chips and salsa appeared, and before we knew it, our food was in front of us. My cousin's looked and smelled delicious! It was a huge plate, with half of it being packed up to go. I had a taste and had regrets for ordering mine! It was quite tasty. I'd ordered fajitas and a salad. The chicken was mildly seasoned and juicy. The veggies were predominantly green bell peppers. The salad was basic. The ranch was vinegar-y, which is not my favorite. No complaints; it's what I ordered. We sat for a good long time and there was no pressure to leave. I'm not typically in the area and she's moved further out, so I don't know that I'll come back. This is the second time my family has celebrated a birthday. Tonight was my Aunts 82nd birthday and we once again had a great time. Our serving staff was awesome and very attentive. The food was good but could have been served a little hotter. I like my food to need to be blown on to cool down but the flavor was definitely there. They don't hold back on the liquor in the drinks that I couldn't partake of because I was driving but a tiny taste later and I ordered a virgin daiquiri . The atmosphere is lively. I had been searching for some Deluxe Nachos and Oh boy! They delivered! The service was in a timely manner, I ordered it To-go. The restaurant was busy and relaxing with a bar as well. The plate could feed a family! The Meat was tender and not greasy, with all of the toppings! And there was plenty of meat! STEPH JUDGEMENT: Old school joint with decent food and great service. We were stuck in the area with some time to kill and our Uber driver recommended this place. Located in a nondescript shopping center, the decor was worn and outdated but clean and comfortable. The service was very friendly. They give you plentiful complimentary chips and salsa, even at the bar. The Salsa was very mild, but we dressed it up with hot sauce. We shared a pitcher of margaritas, which was pretty good. They had good lunch specials; the hubby got the one cheese enchilada special, which came with rice and beans, and I got their ceviche tostada, which came with lots of fresh shrimp and avocado. Apparently they have a sister location in San Pedro. Might need to check that out. read more

The staff is very friendly and professional. I've been coming to Green Onion for years. Never my absolute favorite, but always consistent -- and in the restaurant world, consistent counts for a lot. Last night was the exception, and unfortunately it was a bad one. We arrived around 7:45 on a Friday, fully expecting a wait. No issue there -- the place was busy, people were coming and going, all good signs. But getting a party of 5 seated turned into an ordeal. Nearly an hour passed before they cleared a spot for us in the back of the bar area. Fine. It's 8:40, we're committed at this point. Chips came out immediately, which was a small win. Then we sat. And sat. No server, no drinks, nothing. Around 8:50 I walked back up front because it was clear we'd been forgotten. To his credit, the host handled it immediately and said he'd get someone over right away. Server showed up around 8:55, took the order, and disappeared. Food came out about 15 minutes later -- but items were all over the place temperature-wise. My wife's burrito was flat cold. She didn't send it back. After nearly 90 minutes just to get a meal, she was done. She just wanted out. Getting the check was mercifully fast, but the damage was done. This visit has genuinely soured her on the place, and I don't think we'll be back anytime soon. Some nights just go sideways -- I get it -- but this one may have been too damaging. read more

We sat in the bar and after ten or so minutes of being completely ignored, we stood at the doorway to the dining room to sit in there instead. Another seven minutes or so passed with no acknowledgement. We were seated finally. The food was pretty good. My margarita tasted like straight liquor or battery acid not sure which. We met a relative here on our way from Arizona to Orange County. It's a great location close to the freeway. It's a big restaurant and there's plenty of parking! They told us it would be a 20 minute wait on Friday night at 6 PM, but it was only a five minute wait. Our server was Suzy and she was a sweetheart. Between the four of us, we ordered a chimichanga, two tostadas in the big clam shells and one quesadilla! We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
