I usually avoid Ten Ren, but I was in the area and I was craving beef noodle soup and boba milk tea. I asked for quarter sugar, like I always do at tea shops, but it was like watered down milk tea. Reminds me why I avoid Ten Ren....Beef noodle soup was not impressive and I didn't like their noodles. You know the feeling when you're craving something, but get disappointed because the food wasn't good? Yeah, it really sucked big time. I've been coming to this Ten Ren's since the Grand Opening sign was up but I think that sign was up for such a long time, I'm not sure when the actual opening was. =P I like it better than the one in the Village. The Village is notorious amongst Walnut-ers for getting orders wrong and so on... The drinks at Ten Ren's are consistently way too sweet so I ask for everything half sugar, just to be safe. Sometimes when I'm not in the mood to be on a sugar high, I even ask for 1/4 sugar. My favorite drink is still the old classic Green Milk Tea. You can never go wrong with that and if you do then you better get out of that place fast because if a tea place gets Green Milk Tea wrong, it's not a tea place! The food is good but kind of overpriced. It tastes just like the food my family cooks and I'm part Taiwanese so I know what authentic Taiwanese food cooked by old Taiwanese people should taste like. =P Nonetheless, I'm always satisfied with the food that I get here! Service-wise, it's great. Always checking up on us! I kind of expect all of the employees to at least be able to understand Chinese but it's not a deal breaker. Here is the verdict: SWEET POTATO FRIES: Seasoned just right. Great tasting BOILED WONTON: Filled with pork and shrimp. Almost addictive! STIR FRIED UDON: Tastes okay. Small portion size. The food here is good but overpriced. They do have a card that you can carry around where your tenth purchase results in a free drink. my friend was craving shaved ice, and since it was like in the high 90s, i wasnt one to dissuade her cravings. what i ate: - fried tofu: crispy, cubes of fried tofu. came out with a dipping sauce. i wish they offered a mini portion of this - sausage: sweet and savory chinese sausage. came with garlic slices - shaved snow w/boba, mango jelly, pudding, condensed milk. totally hit the spot. the shaved snow was creamy, sweet, cold, delicious. the toppings made everything better. - milk green tea: one of my favorite milk green teas around. pros: - food/snacks. we came in for shaved ice, and they delivered. snacks were also tasty - i like that you can customize your tea, altering the sweetness level, as well as ice, and boba, etc. - not as busy or hectic as the diamond plaza branch - service was friendly enough, though you had to call them over if you needed something cons: - kitchen closes from 3-5. at least it did on the sunday we went in - this parking lot sucks. sooooo busy and packed, especially on the weekends. everyone is there trying to eat at one of the many restaurants in that plaza - construction on nogales/gale makes this plaza difficult to get in and out of. be aware of the construction that's going on right now - there's only one bathroom, and while it seemed clean enough, it did have an odor to it. would i come again? sure read more

Third review update. I've yet to find a Teazer I like... so I gave up. And instead discovered the greatest thing since sliced bread (and, well, boba hah): Ten Ren's Salted Caramel Coffee with light ice. Oh my goodness... this salted caramel coffee tops every other salted caramel coffee I've ever had. And who knew I'd find it at an Asian Tea Shop? It has a nice strong taste, very sweet, perfectly balanced with regular sized delicious boba (they still have the BEST boba; how do they get it to stay soft and chewy even in cold drinks?). Yum!! The bf and I have also been capitalizing on the four flat screens that are more faithful to the Lakes Show than Pau and his homefry, Nash (though I love you guys... please come back!). Of course this is all done while "working" (yay free wi-fi!). Also, I finally tried some of their entrees, which are super on point. LOVE the garlicy seafood udon and the savory pork with rice noodle. Pork belly rice was tasty, but a little too much fat for me. I asked if mine were ready he said he hasn't started on my order so I said I forgot to say 1/2 sugar for the orange green tea. And he said ok. I paid $8.02 (too expensive. Usually $7 for 2 drinks at tea bar) at tea bar they use freshly squeezed oranges. Here I didn't see any pulp around or the squeezing machine or oranges. So idk if its fresh or just a syrup but it was way too sour. The green milk tea wasn't as sweet as I'm used to tho so idk if he thought I said 1/2 sugar for both. Boba was near perfectly chewy. I have only driven by and noticed this store was right next to a liquor store and that it looked like it was one and the same. My co-workers say that this place is good, so I decided to give it a try. Place is pretty packed during lunch time so that is always a good sign. Even better most were asian so I knew their food can't be that bad. I order the chicken leg rice/combo for lunch and a green tea. My coworker also ordered a fried tofu dish to share. The atmosphere inside is good. Clean and had AC running so everything was cool, is always a good sign. The wait staff was good about getting orders and making sure everything was fine. For guys, the bathroom I thought was weird, with the urinal right next to the sink without a divider. (maybe its normal but for some reason my brain took note of it). The food comes and it looks good. A big portion of chicken with 2 sides of veggies and some lu ruo (marinated ground beef in english?) on rice. The 2 side dishes were good and pretty standard. The lu ruo on white rice is a little sparse but who am I to complain when its a free topping basically. The chicken is kind of what made me irked. I thought that it would be more flavorful but it literally taste like bland chicken with the marinated broth poured over it. It was very very bland even with the broth. I figure its fine since a lot of people like to eat light. Then I see even though the chicken is cut nicely, my pieces are almost all bone and no meat. You know how when you get chicken dishes theres like 3-4 pieces in the middles that is like all meat you can just break apart from the bone on bottom? Nope mine was like 65% bone with meat wrapped around it. Making it a hassle to avoid bone shards while eating. With that being said the dish isn't bad if you want a light chicken meal, but I have had a lot better. Now to the appetizer fried tofu. It came out looking kind of dark and after eating a bite I knew it was over fried. The thing was tough and had no flavor. I assume it was supposed to have some type of pepper/salt shaken on but it didn't. Not a big complaint, but it had no taste and was tough. So just trucked on through and ate it since coworkers didnt want it. (made me happy since I was still hungry after eating my chicken) All in all, this place is a regular asian cafe with the usual dishes. The tea I got was good so I guess that is still their strong suit. I would go back just if coworkers decide to eat there again. I will try something new and hope it is better. Today I just went to this place for the second time. This first time the place was super empty and the service was kinda lacking because I just sat myself and the service was kinda slow. Also during my whole time there, there were 2 employees talking about policies or something behind me the whole time so that probably made the service even slower. HOWEVER!! Today when I went it was kinda full but had some open tables. They decorated it a little for Halloween and the service today was super fast!! I ordered a rice dish and a mango green tea (like always) and the mango green tea came out right when I finished paying. Also today I went because I work really close by and I only have a 30 minute break for lunch so I needed something fast. I didn't tell them I needed it fast but I guess they kinda knew from my dress attire. The rice dish came out within 5 minutes!! It was super fast and I was able to sit outside for a little and enjoy my food before going back to work. I am not too sure about the service everyday but I do think it is pretty fair since my experience today makes up for last time. If I come more often then I will update anything then but for now this place seems decent in service. And to add the food is very similar to other ten rens around my area, so the food is good but not for the price. I think the price is too high, but what can you do its the closest place to my work. I especially like that you can substitute white rice with organic multigrain. Teas are made to order, and they will hold the sugar, flavored, and dairy if you ask... They'll look perplexed like you are a wild animal, but they'll do it with a courteous smile. I had the combination udon soup with light noodles, which came with a perfectly poached egg & was perfect on a rainy day! Prompt and courteous service. This place is Newly Open. A secret hide out from the old Ten Ren's on Grand. My rating: One Star. Oh boy this place is really SUCKS big time. Owned by some cheap ass China people and can't manage it right (because that is how they are). Outside temp is 102 F and they want to save AC bill and inside is so hot and I was sweating... like 92 F. What da hell i was there at 12 noon to 6 pm and no one bother to turn up the cooling...I was drinking shave ice and had to keep ordering another one cause I was doing my work and had to order another one to keep me cool. They strategically "not to turn it cool" so you can order more cold drinks. WDF... however, the long time staffs like Winky and Emily were very friendly and have warm smiles on their faces as usual...that helped and decrease the temperature of "my dissatisfaction" and thus I did not COMPLAINT to management but i won't go there again....THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL DISSATISFACTION and BY THE WAY there is ONLY ONE power plug outlet in the entire place. Came here for lunch on 3/3 around 12:30 noon, and ordered the lunch with with the discounted special house special drink. The waiter said house tea is charged as $1.95 during lunch as discounted price for green/black tea and green/black milk tea. So we ordered a regular green tea and a larger green milk tea. When the bill came out it was charged as a regular large price instead of the discounted $1.95 plus a large size fee. The waiter didn't let us know when we ordered the large size that it was not considered as "house special tea " for $1.95. Though a green milk tea is a house special tea, and when I ordered a large size, all of a sudden the green milk tea is not a house special anymore. At the end of the day, the price is not that different, but the waiter was bad at explaining and when I expressed my confusion saying that they didn't specify, he argued he did and was not polite and said "it's company policy". He said I can call his manager to talk about this if I want. I won't be returning to this store due to the service. When you work as a server, it's most important to keep your customers happy, and explain the menu and pricing well. We were honestly not offered a clear explanation when we ordered the drinks, and waiter was not happy that we disputed the charge. I asked if the manager is in store, ONE OF THEM GAVE ME A FACE AND SAID "NOPE." I told him WE WONT BE RETURNING, and HE SAID IT'S FINE. BOTH male servers gave me attitude as if I am the server and they were the customers. Yea. Definitely won't come again, consider the food was NOT great and on the OILY and SALTY side, and server would go rogue and tell me he's fine with me not returning again. One of my staples because it's convenient. Although I know the prices are a bit high - $5 for a boba drink - the food reminds me of home. But the service surprised me today. I ordered the ginger scallion chicken which used to be one of my favorite dishes. They just have changed the recipe because it was just odd today -- overcooked and heavy on the sauce. Knowing it was a Chinese establishment, I didn't ask for a refund or replacement. Just asked our server to take it away to give me more room on the plate. Within 30 seconds, she came back and offered a replacement entree dish. At a Chinese restaurant, what?? Really unexpected, much appreciated and just a very cool thing to do. This location is possibly the closest to my parents' house. I've dined here a few times and food is great. I did notice last time I was there, they took pretty long just to make two drinks. The guy who took our order was busy doing the books after taking our order. I know it's around your break time but they should still rush to get our order since everyone else was just sitting around and no new customers walked by. It is a little expensive compared to some places but it's still tasty. At least it's easier to park than the other Tea Station down the street. read more
