This is my first time doing food review and feel have to. We've been there many times and all pretty good. But this time my wife ordered the "preserved meat clay pot rice 臘味煲仔飯" which she always did. But this time it came out all burned, we could clearly see it and smell it. We politely asked them to make a new one cuz it's hard to take in. After 30 mins, they brought out a new one, we can still see and smell the burn, but this time is not as bad so we decided to take it, BUT it's visible lack of meat (2 pieces of really small and all fat preserved meat with some sausages). So we asked them to give us more. They brought out some more, yet, it looks like burned charcoal. All black and hard. It even makes a clear sound when it hits the plate. It's so hard and tough and unadvertised (Photo attached). We couldn't believe what we saw and made a complain to the waitress, who is really nice and apologized. Not her issue. It was the kitchen. The quality of their food is inconsistent, but most importantly it's the way of unwilling of fix it. They remade the food without care, and it "felt" like they purposely reduce the meat and then gave us more meat that was burned like charcoal. (It 100% felt like they did that on purpose.) The sizzling beef udon is always delicious, 5/5 stars. It's a little bit oily but that is to be expected. However, we were extremely disappointed with the HK style noodle soup, which was the dish that we came for in the first place! Imagine the disappointment. It really just seemed like they added maybe an extra 4-5 spoonfuls of oil into our dish because it was a grease-fest. I thought my gf was being dramatic about it but I tried it myself, and literally had to soak my mouth with a napkin to get rid of the oil that layered my lips. See photos. When we brought this up to the male server, he said it was normal. I said that's weird but accepted it. He then saw me taking photos of my meal and then quickly came over and asked if I wanted a refill for my drink. Coincidence? Maybe. I brought it up again to the female server when I paid the bill, she was honest at least and said the dish isn't supposed to be that oily. If you're looking for actually delicious HK style noodles, I recommend going to KW Cafe on Colima. They have the exact same drinks, dishes (maybe even more), at the same price. The restaurant itself was pretty spacious and clean. Just what you'd expect from a typical Asian restaurant. This is a very good and legit Hong Kong style cafe casual foods spot. Excellent customer service. Staffs are always checking in with you. Visa and Mastercards accepted. Very spacious inside. The outside doesn't look upgraded or appealing (more like an old Denny's or fast food retail building), but the interior is modern, organized, and very clean. Experienced operations. Menu had lots of good selections, so it may take a longer time to review your options. There were two large parking lots on each side of the old single story building. Plenty of spaces available. We had the regular cart noodle soup/3-items of choice (wonton, BBQ pork, curry fishball), and a $15.95 sizzling beef udon with black peppered sauce which comes with a good homemade daily soup. Everything was delicious and fresh. Generous portions. The wontons were especially fresh handmade good tasting. We were able to taste the caramelized onions in it too. Tasty and very good. Legit and authentic Hong Kong comfort foods. I added the grass jelly iced beverage and it wasn't overly sweet. Nice. They have good quality foods at this restaurant chain. No doubt. Overall, I enjoyed the items that I ordered here! I got the house special steamed rice rolls, egg tofu with mushrooms, and the Hong Kong style milk tea. My favorite was the egg tofu with mushrooms. It was so flavorful, and the tofu, mushrooms, and veggies were perfectly cooked! The green beans were nice and blistered and still had a good crunch to them which I really enjoyed. The egg tofu was silky on the inside, and the different mushrooms added such great texture. The steamed rice rolls were good, but not personally my taste. I prefer the dim sum style rice rolls, so I just didn't order what I thought I was going to get. The rice rolls were nice and chewy, and the sauce tasted like a mix of hoisin and sesame. For the Hong Kong milk tea, it was delicious! However, it is more on the tannin-y/bitter side so if you don't like that then the tea might not be for you. My neighbor and I swung by Delicious Food Corner in Diamond Bar for breakfast and decided to mix it up with one Chinese combo and one Western combo ($12.95 each, plus they come with hot drinks). We picked hot milk tea and a hot lemonade. We got the Pork & Preserved Egg Congee with Stir-Fried Udon. The congee was quite watery this time, though they were generous with the preserved egg, which tasted great. The udon was pretty typical, but the BBQ pork slices were on the drier side. Next time, I am definitely sticking to my favorite, the Home Style Stir-Fried Silver Pin Noodles, since it is way better. We both liked the Satay Beef Instant Noodle. While it does not totally compare to what you get in Hong Kong, it is actually a really decent version compared to most HK-style cafes around here. We also got the Pineapple Bun with Butter, but the bun was dry and they barely put any butter inside. Before heading out, we ordered two of the Grilled Chicken Steak with Fried Egg & Fried Potato combos to-go ($13.95 each, which includes a butter roll and a drink). The chicken steak was nice and tender. The fried potatoes were soft and mushy rather than crispy, but to be fair, I did not eat them until I got back home. Tried DFC for the first time today and it was pretty good. They have special set menus for breakfast so I was able to enjoy satay beef instant noodles, pineapple bun, and milk tea for just $13. Everything was cooked very well. My wife got the porridge set with huge portions of jook and xo sauce rice noodles. The whole experience was very comforting on a rainy Sunday. Restaurant is bustling and efficient. There was a full house, but the food came out very fast and nothing was missed. We even got a cold lemon tea to go. Got the dinner special value (Scallion fish and Beef Kung Pao for $15.95 each), which came with soup and rice. The soup was less than appealing. Only 2 pieces of small cut-up carrots and a tiny shredded piece of meat at the bottom. It didn't look anything like the photo in the menu. The scallion fish & beef kung pao was decent. I had a pretty good first experience here. The atmosphere was nice, the food was good, and the staff were quite friendly. This is a standalone building with a good amount of seating inside. I had the curry brisket rice, and enjoyed the dish. Note that this place does not give you any appetizer like soup. I don't think I have been to a DLC that I didn't enjoy, I'm happy to see them expand towards the inland empire so that there can be more HK food in the area. At a more moderate and value place this dish is $25.00, but the vegetables are not as good. Plus the location is Diamond Bar, so higher prices are expected. Delicious Food Corner in Diamond Bar has had its ups and downs since its grand opening as far as the food is concerned. I have been a fan since day one and am very happy to report that my last few recent visits have seen a much-improved menu, food quality, as well as service. I particularly like their roast duck which has the crispiest skin as well as the most tender meat in town. Basic staples like fried rice, fried noodles etc. have recently been consistently good. I just had a chow fun with beef in black bean sauce and it was delicious. The sauce was richly flavorful with a strong aroma of black bean blended with a medley of crispy peppers. The best dish that I just had was a seasonal special of whole live lobster with noodles in a ginger and scallion sauce. It was one of the best that I've had in the area. The lobster was large for the price ($28.99). I would guess it was way over one pound, and it was very meaty. The lobster tasted very fresh, and we really enjoyed it. This is a seasonal special so be sure to get it while it lasts! The DFC in Diamond Bar is probably the priciest among all the locations of the chain, but the good quality of the food and the prompt and friendly service certainly justify the premium. We ordered congee with pork and thousand year old egg, rice rolls, American breakfast with eggs over easy and two hot milk teas. The food arrived piping hot, eggs perfectly cooked, rice rolls silky and delicious. exactly as ordered. Congee portion is smaller than HK Macau but the noodle portions are definitely more generous here. Decided to give this place a try since I was in the area, and it's much better than the Chino Hills location. Decor is nice and showcases classic Hong Kong films. Seating is comfortable, if a little crowded, but it's nothing out of the ordinary. Food was good overall. I really liked the cart noodles--the broth was flavorful, the noodles had a nice bite, and the add-ons were good, too. I ordered it with the marinated tofu, soy sauce chicken, and curry fish balls. Loved the first two, but the fish balls were a little disappointing and needed to marinate longer for actual curry flavor. On the downside, the sizzling chicken hot pot, while flavorful and full of wok energy, had mostly bony pieces. Not really worth the price, in my opinion. I really like DFC for its consistency with its items; you can never go wrong with any of the dishes on the menu. They have a breakfast combo I have yet to try, but the one entree I recommend the most is their sizzling beef udon noodles - perfect al dente udon noodles, super tender beef, and some stir fried vegetables mixed in there. They have classic Asian condiments like white pepper, black/red Chinese vinegar, chili oil (A MUST!!), etc. The food is quite oily as all Chinese food generally is, but that's what makes it yummy and comforting. I've visited several different Delicious Food Corner locations prior but this was a first at Diamond Bar. I called in to place an order and was provided with an order number to advise staff upon arrival to pick up. I personally didn't eat the food this time around as I dropped off the food for my in-laws, but heard good things from them! Since it was a weekday mid-morning, crowds were very minimal with only a few tables occupied inside. I walked to toward the back where pick up orders are stored. I had my small toddler with me and my order came with a full bag + 2 drinks. They didn't have any cup holders so one of the staff actually helped me carry a drink + food bag to the car whilst I had my toddler. Great accommodating service by staff that I was pleasantly surprised about. This location doesn't seem to be as busy as the ones in SGV so I would definitely visit again.
