Came here for takeout on a Monday afternoon. I ordered the pork chop noodle soup after asking the cashier for a recommendation between that and the dry pork noodles. She suggested the pork chop noodle soup, but unfortunately it was really bland and the pork chop itself was chewy. Also pretty pricey- $15 w/tax. The pork chop portion was small. My husband got the black pepper beef with rice -- the flavor was okay, but the corn on the side was cold. Also about $15 with tax, which maybe a tad bit more reasonable. The service also left a bad impression. The cashier seemed really unhappy and came off as rude, like she didn't want to be there. That said, the ambiance was comfortable -- it's a chill tea spot and could be a nice place to hang out if the food and service improved. read more

Apparently they're the "original creator of boba milk tea" located in Taiwan. Their drinks are okay. Def less sweet so if you like your drinks on the sweeter side, ask for 100% sugar. I got their beef stew rice and it's not bad. It's very savory. Their popcorn chicken is actually good! Super juicy and moist! Their service is quick! Their personal hotpot is one of the best I've had! What makes it so yummy is the broth - rich, clean, and super flavorful. The ingredients are able to absorb all of its yummy goodness. The amount of food is substantial, and it comes out fairly quick. We also tried some of the other items on their menu, and everything tastes fairly authentically Taiwanese. I had to ask for salt and pepper and seasoned it myself! But for most times, this item is really really good and absolutely one of my fave here, so I would say ORDER IT, but proceed with caution lol - pork chop rice: very subtle flavor but it was good. Just wish the pork chop can be a little more tender. Would I order again? Hmm...maybe I will... Drinks are also pretty good here. I tried Panda milk tea and I love the flavor of the black tea. This is my second time coming here for lunch. First time I had a regular soup bowl. It was very good, but forgot to write a review. This time we were tired from a night out and wanted something warm to fill our tummy's. Normally my goto is boiling point but my husband wanted me to try the hotpot here, and I was very happy he did! Place opens at 11, decor is nice open concept design is modern. Plenty of parking in this complex. Service was great we can scan the code and order with your phone or you ask your server to submit the order for you. My husband order the pickled broth hotpot He liked it a lot so 4/5 for him - it's honestly an acquired taste so I was not a fan I order the original seafood - large portions fresh seafood and all its toppings and good warm broth. 4/5 The only thing is, they add alot of cabbages so it felt wasteful since I can't finish it all. During covid and the constant promotions from uber eats and postmates, this place was one of my go to's for delivery order eating at home. I got to say i prefer this place over boiling point. Their individual hot pot meals were so good and spiced just right. A mild is actually mild unlike Boiling point which varies time to time on their spiciness level for a mild. There dipping sauce is also good which consist of a sesame sauce and a sweet soy based sauce. They also offer other main entrees and sides. I have ordered there oyster omelettes which is large enough to split into 2 portions. The oysters are generous in quantity and the traditional red omelette sauce is perfectly sweet to counter balance the saltiness and the oyster flavor. The taiwanese sausage with the sticky rice hot dog combo is delicious as well. I would wish they had it made it like Taiwan where the sausage is actually placed inside the sticky rice like they do in Taiwan, but it will do. I also got an opportunity to dine-in and the service was good enough for a tea shop. It was attentive and it was not difficult to get services from the waitress. The place is clean and the tea choices are a plenty and great as well. I don't do boba, so i do not know how the quality of their boba are. This place has something to eat for anyone, whether you want a rice plate entree, or something warm and soupy to something to just snack on. They are quick and quality is great. read more

Hot Pot Sesame Oil Chicken I had expected it would be a traditional Taiwanese cuisine, but it more like a chop suey in the sesame oil hot pot. Not so sure how to make out of this. The ambiance as cold as freezer, I ended up dinning outdoor where was warmer. There was practically no service at all; ordered the food from QCode, the server brought it out and paid inside. We ordered Uber eats from here late night cause hubby was craving his hometown Taiwanese food. I am not a huge fan of Taiwanese food but I do like a few signature items. So we decided on quite a few signature Taiwanese snack food to munch on while watching a movie at home. We ordered meatball soup, pork rice cake, fried cuttlefish ball, fried fish cake, oyster vermicelli, oyster omelet and popcorn chicken. Food was surprisingly delicious in large portions. I especially liked the oyster vermicelli and this dish has always been one of my favorite Taiwanese food. First time ordering takeout here because of all the 5 star reviews, and man was I disappointed. Chicken leg + rice combo: This should be the safe bet, I thought. Pretty hard to mess this up right? The chicken leg was fried to oblivion and left out to dry, with the edges so rock hard they could cut the inside of my mouth on every bite. Side items also had very little taste to them. Stir fried cabbage with garlic: Greasy, bland, and you won't know there's garlic. Spicy tofu: Kinda spicy and that's about it. I expected all the smells and flavors associated w spicy szechuan hotpot but i guess that's too much to expect. I can attribute one poor dish to bad luck, but having all three at below par quality is just sad. One star, would not recommend. read more

Our work place orders food from them at least once a month so I've had my fair share of eating their dishes! Wanted to start off by saying their takeout is super fast and reliable. We always order at least 5-6 dishes with drinks and they're able to whip them out in 20-25 min for us to pickup. Going to rate some things I've had so far! I've tried a range between their hot pots and rice dishes so here's my speed review (: keep in mind I've only ever had their food via takeout so this is purely a takeout review!! Original Beef Hot Pot: Solid hot pot with a variety of ingredients inside (tempura, veggies, beef slices, meatball, crab tempura). The broth is a simple broth, tastes kinda like a bone broth but nothing too wild. They always give the hotpots with some dipping sauce (i think one is a soy sauce type? Taiwanese soy sauce that is similar to the ones at boiling point and a sesame sauce). Very comforting meal. Pork tripe white pepper hot pot: I'm not a fan of white pepper broth but I wanted to try out all the hotpots just to taste. It was a pretty good broth, you can taste the white pepper in it so they got that down! The meats included pork tripe and some pieces of chicken. Also came with tempura, fishball with filling, pork blood rice cake thing). It's also not a bad choice if you're a fan of this soup base! Italian Tomato Hot Pot: I got this hot pot with beef slices and rice. Everything in the hotpot was essentially the same as the original beef one (with maybe a couple switches) but also really good!! The soup base was a little weak in my opinion, not a very strong tomato flavor but the food items were good enough for me. I usually bring home the soup to boil some noodles in when I get home and add my own seasonings to my taste. Beef Tongue with rice: Not bad, but the beef tongues are a little small? I got this dish twice, the first time it was pretty good but the second time the beef tongues were slightly overcooked. It was still a good dish if you're craving beef tongue but I would probably opt for something else (for price reasons). Spicy Beef Tofu: The spice on this is a good kick with the beef! The beef usually is pretty tender and the tofu pairs well with the beef and rice. Oyster Omelette: Pretty solid! A really big portion and very homey flavor imo. Taiwanese sausage: Kind of has a medicinal aftertaste compared to other places I've had, I got it a couple times and it usually has that aftertaste ( I always forget that I don't like it as much here lol) Popcorn chicken: I feel like you can't get this wrong especially if you're a taiwanese restaurant. Solid and was a nice tea snack! QUICK TEA REVIEW: most of their teas have great flavor, and they are very flexible with adjusting sugar levels. For something refreshing I usually get the Honey spring tea (50% sugar) has just a right amount of sweet and tea flavor if you're not big of sugar. Tried their fruit teas which are also pretty good and refreshing as well. read more

Ordered the pumkin milky broth hot pot. Not as pictured. - It had nice premium slices of beef, alot of cabbage, some bok choy, a little bit of onion, sausage balls, and I think 1 block of black blood sausage (which I didn't eat) - I asked for it medium spicy, the chili dollop they added was EXCELLENT - The broth though was amazing, outstanding - The rice bowl was tiny. It was made with terrible cheap dried out rice. Perhaps it was cooked and in the pot for more than 1 day. Perhaps I need to bring my own rice. LOL. Service was good and kind. But there were only 2 servers. Seemed a little understaffed. I had to waive down the servers to get my needs met. The dish comes with two types of dipping sauces. The light brown sesame sauce is better than the dark ginger soy one (too strong in flavor, but great for the meat). read more

I've been eyeballing Hanlin for the longest time since my bank is literally across from it. Finally had Taiwanese food cravings for once, so decided to take the plunge! Decided that I wanted to get some popcorn chicken and regular black milk tea. You can tell the quality here is just a tad higher than your regular boba place. Popcorn chicken actually had a very uniquely sweet flavor to it, which I was a fan of. And the black milk tea actually had some legitimate tea flavor to it, so you know it was made legitimately and not using powder! Service here is very good. They were very friendly and accommodating for my to-go order, and were happy to help me out as I had never been here before. Plus the food came out pretty quickly, so no complaints here. Definitely have been missing out on Hanlin! Need to come back here for some of the other items on the menu. read more

The restaurant gets a lot of sun in the afternoon so I would recommend going earlier in the day or after the sun sets for a more enjoyable experience. Their food is usually pretty good and authentic but I had to point out the chicken to garlic ratio in their popcorn chicken. After eating a few pieces of chicken, we were left with an almost full bowl of garlic. The garlic had been cooking for a while and was deep fried so instead of a crunchy texture, it was soggy inside which made it not as exciting to eat. I would definitely go back as I love their Panda Green Milk Tea but their food is simply meh. read more

Panda Milk Tea is all that you need to know! I've literally only been here once to try this drink recommended by a friend and damn, I'm hooked. It wasn't overly sweet (I got 70% sweet) and the boba was perfect. You can taste the actual tea leaving you with qualitEA drinks. They use real tea, none of that powder stuff! Hanlin replaced a previous smelly pot restaurant. It's at the corner behind In N Out area on Colima. Servers speak English, but it doesn't seem like it's their native tongue. There's one single bathroom in the back. Parking is pretty easy. The first time I came here was Wednesday night to get their AYCE drink for $15. You can get any drink you want as long as you're about done with the previous one; you don't have to get refills on the same drink. One down side was they ran out of some items, like plum and aiyu. Those were actually the only things I was looking for, so I was pretty disappointed with the "AYCE". My fave drink would be the honey lemon with aloe (it supposedly doesn't have caffeine!). Food: I had the three cup chicken dish $12.95 here because someone else at the table also ordered it. We both thought the chicken wasn't flavored enough. My parents actually visited the next day and ordered the same chicken dish. Because they don't have Yelp accounts, I'm going to post for them that they thought the same about the chicken! The dish wasn't cooked long enough for the chicken to get all the good flavor. The beef tongue was good, although it's a small portion for the price $13.99. The sesame oil chicken vermicelli smelled really good (and was very oil) because of the sesame oil, but it tasted ok. The hakka salty pork noodle soup $11.95 was hella salty and not for me. I won't be ordering that again even though the menu makes it look delicious. I'll be back because they have free wifi and a few outlets. 5 stars for Hanlin Tea Room for their amazing service! I came here yesterday with a large group of friends 8-10 people and we sat under the tents in their outdoor dining area. Hanlin was super nice and accommodating and there was easy access to go in to order more drinks, ask for water, or use the restroom. The tents kept us in the shade and helped a lot since it was really hot that day. I'm extra happy that they were really nice about giving us water (we asked for water twice) since it was so hot outside and we didn't want to dehydrate. Wow what a great and authentic Taiwanese place! I recently discovered this gem during a work lunch and can't stop thinking about it. I got the Taiwanese beef noodle soup and it didn't disappoint. The tea noodles were different and lightweight. The beef was very tender and juicy - only downside was they gave you the chunk of tendon that was too chewy for me. The panda milk tea comes with black and white boba mix that's super good. Apparently they are the original maker of this type of boba. I even ordered a popcorn chicken to-go and couldn't stop eating it while back in the office. They even had chunky spicy toasted garlic in there! Their teas are so good. I orders the Black Milk Tea w/boba, 30% sweetness. I could have gone up to 50%, but still you could really taste the ratio between the tea and the milk( I think they use non-dairy creamer). Simply satisfying. Also, their boba is of perfect sweetness, and texture. I also suggest their Lychee Green Tea, adjust the sweetness to your liking. I love their teas. I never got the name of the barista who makes the drinks, she does an awesome job. I love the taste of authentic, strong-brewed Chinese tea...and this place definitely has that! I've tried both the Tieh Kuan Yin Milk Tea and Panda Boba Black Milk Tea. I highly recommend both! The latter drink has a mixture of tapioca pearls and boba, which is different from the average "panda" that usually features both white and black pearls. Although the drinks are pretty good and have really nice roasted flavor to them, the food is extremely lackluster and bland. The hotpot has absolutely no taste to it, while the beef stew noodle is super light and seems to be missing key herbs that are typically in the soup base. The popcorn chicken is also rather naked and unsalted. I could barely taste anything, despite a few shreds of basil and cloves of garlic that were tossed into the mix as an afterthought. This probably would have been better if they had actually fried everything up in one pan together, so the aromatics could have rubbed off on the chicken itself. Despite the fact that the drinks are pretty decent, please be forewarned that there is a major language barrier here. I was able to navigate my way successfully through a conversation, but would recommend coming here with someone who has at least medium speaking fluency in Chinese! read more
