The owner is so nice, and the vegan baked goods are fantastic! The super chocolatey banana chocolate cake with chocolate icing is amazing - you will not believe it's lowfat and vegan. Same that the banana blueberry cake is so delicious, and also vegan and lowfat. Their hot and cold food bar is wonderful as well, as are their smoothies. While not my favorite place for BYO salad bowls (Maoz holds that spot in my heart), Green Symphony definitely beats out similar establishments like Chop't or Fuel. My boyfriend and I decided to order delivery one evening since we were feeling a bit healthy. He got a standard Green Symphony salad (he lacks creativity) and I decided to create my own. Mixing and matching is the funnest part of eating healthy in my opinion. I decided to get something similar to a Chop't salad I had a few days before, just to get a clear grasp on which establishment was better. I got a salad bowl with mixed greens, grilled chicken, chickpeas, egg, eggplant, mushrooms, and avocado. As well as a cucumber dressing. Portion-wise the bowl was about twice the size of the Chop't salad I'd ordered. Green Symphony PACKED it with items. Considering it was less than $15 i was completely surprised by how much they'd put in. A very hearty amount of chicken and mushrooms. The dish was totally filling and all the items were fresh, I just didn't think it was the tastiest salad I've ever had. I particularly like their soup (carrot ginger non-dairy ftw!), smoothie/juice selections, and the oatmeal pb raisin vegan "cookie". Basically, it's a ball of fiber. The staff behind the counter is really friendly. The only drawback is that you have to hit $10 for MC/Visa and $15 for Amex. Not only did I find a place within walking distance, Its quite possibly the best Organic Deli in New York City. I'm not one for hyperbole either - I live in Williamsburg. This is a nice small place run by a Korean family, I guess. They have a variety of food but I would not recommended the buffet; it is overpriced. Eight bux per pound and the food doesn't taste all that good. I would say its a rip off. My 13 year old sister cooks better then that. The wraps, sandwiches and Smoothies are your best choice. Besides the food, the customer service is nice. The Korean people are nice and try to have a conversation with you but the old man goes too far sometimes. For instance, I wanted a pair of chopsticks to use and they old man lectured me on their environmental hazards and told me to carry my own around. I thought that was rude and unfit for such a place. I don't care if I'm polluting the earth by using disposable chopsticks, I just wanted a pair of chopsticks to eat my dinner and the fact that they offer you plastic forks instead does not help his argument.The old man ruined my appetite for the night and on top of that he dissed my chinese nationality at the same time. I've been a loyal fan for years, i work nearby and this place has the best variety of options! I also love that it's literally a family owned and run cafe. Favorites include the "almond greens" smoothie that has kale and almond butter, just $7 and very filling. A great variety of made to order juices (you can add in vegan protein powder, flax, chia, etc), the made to order salads are generous, and the salad bar is better than whole foods! I love their (vegan) soups in the winter and they make a great gazpacho in the summer. They also sell a great selection of healthy snacks like vegan protein bars, kale chips, gf crackers, and delicious homemade baked goods like the oat and nuts bar It's popular with the broadway dancers and actors (i was in line with a few rockettes the other day). It wasn't easy to find, and I definitely needed the help of Yelp. Need to hit a $10 minimum for Visa/Mastercard and $15 for AmEx, so I'd advise bringing cash. I do appreciate that they keep their prices low for being in such a prime area. A green juice only cost $5.75 for what would probably be at least $8 anywhere else. Favorite snack: blueberry acai bar SUPER dense - and with fresh blueberries on top, you know it's going to get you through the afternoon. It's made with all natural ingredients. Favorite smoothie: peaches & cream (so refreshing and tastes just like what you would expect) The smoothies are thick, unlike some places where it tastes like they watered down protein powder. I have been searching for a good French style baguette sandwich, and this place nails it (sans the baguette). THE COBB SALAD- OH MY GOD (!??) This salad in incredible. The turkey bacon really gives it some substance without adding a lot of extra calories. Combine that with the feta cheese and creamy avocado and you have a killer salad. It's like the speakeasy of times square; kind of hidden, small, and only people who are frequently in the area seem to know about it. The prices are amazing for the area and they have SUCH delicious and healthy options. I usually end up at the hot bar trying to not get 16 pounds of food--partly because of the cost and partly because I know I WILL consume all 16 pounds. The people who work their are friendly and the smoothies are friggin' bangerang. I'm almost afraid to review it so highly because I WANT IT ALL TO MYSELF. But selfishness don't get you nowhere. I have been to this place a few times and I can't decide if I really like it or not. They have a huge variety of health snacks especially for people with food allergies and they are located on the same block as my office. So if I am in a rush or if I ran out of snacks, I can stop by this place and get something quick and healthy. They have a good variety of smoothies including dairy free smoothies. Here is a taste review of the items I have tried: almond greens smoothie: The menu states that the smoothie includes kale and spinach. I was expecting them to use REAL kale and spinach however they used a green powder. The smoothie also has banana, almond butter, almond milk and flax. However, the smoothie only tasted like powdered greens so I would recommend getting this unlike you like the green chalky, grassy taste. almond joy smoothie: I thought the smoothie was good and had a mild coconut taste. Not sure why its called almond joy because it doesn't have chocolate/cocoa. funky monkey: i absolutely love this smoothie!! It has peanut butter and banana and rice milk. its delicious and very filling. cocomania bar: the lady confirmed that the bar is dairy free despite what their menu says online. The cocomania bar was ok...nothing special. The crust was not sweet at all and the chocolate piece was only mildly sweet. I couldn't taste the chocolate or coconut as much. I tasted something fruity which I couldn't place. The bar was very moist though. This place has been a godsend for a health conscious, on-and-off vegeterian/pescetarian like me. My coworkers and I have gotten hooked on their smoothies (Hawaiian Dream with Soymilk), wraps (Asian Tempeh with extra Carrot/Ginger dressing) and cold/hot salad bar. Everything is super affordable considering the quality of food and location. Green Symphony has an array of pre-prepared foods from wraps to salads to desserts (Everything Bar - please!) as well as packaged foods like GT's Kombucha, Think Thin Bars, etc. There is literally something for everybody here. Green Symphony is a decent lunch spot to hit up in the area and depending on what you get it's not too expensive. It's small but there is some seating if you want to take a load off. The ambiance is bodega meets buffet bar. This spot has a little bit of everything: salad station, fresh smoothies, pre-made sandwiches, hot dishes and of course your snacks. I've only gotten their sandwiches and oatmeal both were good but I keep going back to the avocado hummus sandwich, it's pretty tasty and it will fill you up plus at $4.95 you can't go wrong. read more
