We've been going here for a few years now. We love the raw options. And to be honest I think the food has gotten better. My favorite item was the Plantain Lasagna & raw sushi was my favorite. The food is prepared very fast, it is a little pricy but the portion size was okay for dinner, even the dessert slices were very generous! We loved it! It's so refreshing to find an authentic vegetarian restaurant, where the taste does not have you second guessing. The Peacefood restaurant on the UWS does put you at ease with their deliciously flavorful dishes, excellent service with a very comforting atmosphere. UWSiders have a vast array of restaurants that offer delicious food and dishes that can satisfy everyone palates. After finally getting a colonoscopy for the first time, with great results (came back negative), I've been more conscious about what to eat. Got a veggie sandwich with fries. Definitely a tasty sandwich, fries were hot and fresh on arrival. The sandwich was fresh although I do think the bread to fillings ratio was a bit off (too much bread imo). I ordered the carrot cake to go because it looked so good but it was ok. Really dense and I felt the frosting had an odd taste, not sure what ingredients they use to make the frosting but it tastes like oil to me. Not my favorite, would skip it next time. Prices are pretty high, with a veggie sandwich w/ fries costing you about $22, with cake and tip it came out to $40. read more

Slow service dinner. Not too attentive. Food isn't bad, but service is rather slow. Servers aren't too attentive. It took a while to get a table (no one greeted us for the longest time), order food, and get the check. It was also hard to get the servers' attentions because they didn't make eye contact. The food came out not slowly though. We ordered the PFC Tenders and Teriyaki Chicken. The chicken is a mix of soy and gluten. Both were good. The tenders were battered well. The chipotle sauce it came in wasn't too heavy. The tenders were seasoned well that I felt like they didn't really need the sauce! The added sauce and lemon slices were a nice touch. I remember ordering the Chickpea Fries before and not liking the seasoning, but the PFC tenders were good. Would recommend over the Chickpea Fries, even though the menu marks the Chickpea Fries as highly recommended. The Teriyaki chicken patty was on the salty side. It was overall a comforting dish though. Simple, but flavors were good. Pumpkin and broccoli were roasted well. I would come back for the food and cozy atmosphere. I love the concept of being able to try food items that you wouldn't typically be able to try as a vegetarian. The quiche was pretty good, until it wasn't. The beginning part of the quiche (the thinner part of it) was perfectly moist and delicious. As I ate through it, it got really dry and it took away from the taste of the quiche. The biscuits and gravy didn't have enough gravy for the second biscuit so it made it hard to eat the entire meal. The gravy was too salty for me as well. I would like to come back and try other items on the menu but I think I'll have to order something more safe next time. read more

It's been awhile since I visited usually going to the other location. Since we were nearby after a walk in Central Park, we stopped by for lunch on a weekend. The place was packed and we were told it may be up to an hour wait. However, if we chose to sit at a 'community table' (shared with another group) we could get seated right away. This was a nice option as we were seated with a kind mother/daughter. There is limited outdoor seating. They have high chairs available for kids too. While we didn't have room for it, dessert should be a must here! The cakes and coconut macarons are the best! All vegan everything! The golden beet salad was nice and fresh and we enjoyed the fresh juices (hangover cure and glowing skin). The deep fried battered pfc tenders strips were too heavy for me and would have preferred just the tofu. The sauces were good though. Macho Nachos were okay. The chips could have been fresher. The dumplings were also okay. The filing was good, but seemed like there was more dough than filling. So, almost like eating pan fried dough. The staff was nice and service was fast. A great cozy vegan restaurant on the Upper West Side, I'm not sure why it took me so long to review Peacefood, I have been a customer for over 12 years. There are so many yummy options to choose from and it's always an enjoyable experience. The chickpea fries are good, crunchy with lot's of flavor. One of my go to entrées is the PeaceFood Bowl. My preference when I order it is - Japanese, pumpkin, kale, cauliflower, rice and just a little of the ginger tahini dressing. They have the best vegan mac and cheese. For lunch I recently had mediterranean veggie Panini. I would definitely order it again. Another favorite entree is the crab cake serve with golden beet salad. For dessert I really enjoy the raw cacao moose pie and the magic cookie. Add the house chai tea and it's a slice of vegan heaven. read more

I stopped in for a quick lunch today and thoroughly enjoyed the pesto seitan sandwich, chickpea fries, and a strawberry shortcake for dessert. our server was nice but not the most attentive. she brought the check without asking if we wanted dessert and then once we got that, she was sort of huddled with the other workers for a long time so we couldn't flag her down for a box and the check. not terrible service by any means but could have been better. We came here for their prix fixe Christmas meal and LOVED it! For $35, they provided one entree of choice as well as small sides of mashed sweet potato, stuffing, green beans, and cranberry sauce. Great deal and great amount of food. The lentil walnut "meatloaf" was a little heavy but delicious. Peacefood remains a standby vegan restaurant with reliably good food and legendary desserts. I wouldn't mind if they ventured a little further into "health food vegan" territory by introducing more macro type items and oil-free items and relied less on fried food, but you can't have everything! read more

I am so glad I tried out peace food. Casual little restaurant located on the corner plenty of seats for small groups, friendly service. We weren't super hungry so we shared the mac & cheese and the chickpea fries. Both highly recommended. The mac & cheese is one of the best if not the best vegan mac & cheese I've had. The chickpea fries were new to me, but the seasoning is 10 out of 10 the best. Since we went late on lunch, we opted for some fun desserts. We were torn, and so therefore, we got to carrot cake and the strawberry shortcake biscuit. I think desserts are a personal preference for what people like so being very objective I will say that if you like something unique, not too sweet full of flavor go for the strawberry shortcake biscuit dessert. I would get that over and over again. The shortcake isn't traditional it's biscuits but if you love biscuits like I do, they were very good. They were sweet with strawberry filling in the inside and a fun, fluffy strawberry cream to go around it we really enjoyed that one a lot and it was a nice surprise. The carrot cake was very much a traditional carrot cake. I had everything we would see typically and a carrot cake slice. It has the cream cheese icing the first few bites. I thought it was so good and nice to taste a vegan carrot cake which I haven't had in a really long time But as you continue to eat it, it is a bit on the sweet side because of the icing so if you like sweet and you like carrot cakes, that are traditional, highly recommend their carrot cake. read more

A huge wow! I have been visiting Peacefood Cafe for many years. I found out about this cafe through a non-profit organization that helps animals. When I used to work more downtown, I would come in all the time for a cookie or a juice. It was the perfect place to visit after taking a workout class, just buying some time before being somewhere or relaxing to sit and read a book. I have to admit, after the lockdown in 2020, I didn't come in as frequently as I used to. We were a larger group of women that hosted a 10+ person bridal shower this spring and would like to say that the service was unbelievable! A+++ service TJ was wonderful and answered the emails professionally and so quickly. The staff the day of was so warm. I even went to visit the restaurant a couple of days before the event and the staff was so welcoming. The food presentation was lovely and I loved the ambiance of the restaurant. The dessert is definitely the star of the show. The cakes are extraordinary! I look forward to recommending and hopefully having more events here. It is not just for those that are vegan. I visited this restaurant two weekends in a row and wanted to provide feedback regarding outdoor seating service. On my most recent visit, I ordered a pumpkin latte and chicken and waffles. The food arrived before my drink, and my cutlery was not provided with the food, requiring the waiter to retrieve it--this took longer than expected. While eating, I realized I needed more syrup, but the waiter did not check in to see if I needed anything. Because I was dining alone outside, I was hesitant to leave my items unattended and called the restaurant to request syrup. After waiting five minutes, I went inside with my bag, food and drink to ask for the syrup in person. When I spoke to someone I believe was a manager, he dismissed calling the restaurant as "not productive" and indicated that this is a "laid-back" restaurant, implying my expectations were too high. I felt there was a disconnect between my concerns and the response I received. While I understand this is not a fine-dining establishment, basic attentiveness--such as checking in a few minutes after food is served--is expected, particularly for solo diners. Overall, I found the outdoor seating service lacking in attentiveness, and the response from management felt unprofessional and dismissive. I love a good vegan restaurant and Peacefood is a great part of the rotation. The dumplings, seitan medallion panini & pumpkin quiche are some of my favorite menu items. Not sure why the chickpea fries are so hyped up, they're a mushy texture and don't complement many items on the menu since they contain such distinct Indian spices that aren't in many other items. I have a huge sweet tooth so can't leave here without getting dessert. The chocolate cake is good (not great) but the raspberry crumb bar is delicious! I've heard great things about the raw key lime pie but have yet to try it since they ran out last time I was there. I'm going to continue working my way through the dessert case and hope that the lunch menu can expand/rotate a bit so that there's more to try! read more
