Used this company years ago . They gave me one price then midway added more than $1,000 . Stay away

We moved into our home a month ago and as soon as we closed we unfortunately discovered a gas leak that just wouldn't go away. We hired a different plumber that was referred to us. He charged us an arm & a leg and ultimately didn't fix the problem. I found Green Tech on Yelp and asked them to come in as soon as they could. Mark Smith arrived today right on time for his appointment, and within 20 minutes was able to find the leak and fix the issue that we had been experiencing for AN ENTIRE MONTH. He was extremely personable and knowledgeable, and was very proud to work for the company. Mark stayed until Nicor came to inspect to make sure the job was done and the entire process took 45 minutes. The cherry on top was that their rate was extremely fair - they charge hourly instead of nickel and diming for labor and parts, so we paid a fraction of what we had been charged previously by the other plumber. We wish we would have called Green Tech much sooner but we're so glad we found a reliable plumbing service for future needs. Called Green Tech late in the day after getting stood up by another plumbing company for a clogged main line. Zach arrived on time the next morning and was very hardworking, courteous and professional. Our backyard cleanout plug was too far from the clog so he had to go back to the shop to get more cable but didn't charge for the time going back and forth. Kevin provided me some appointment options and repair or replacement. We elected to replace our hot water heater and get a slightly larger tank. Ryan, who did the work at our house, came first thing Saturday morning and was professional and efficient. He was thoughtful about letting me know he was going to have the outside door propped open while moving the tank in the event we have pets. He was done replacing the tank even faster than anticipated, allowing us to focus on other tasks for most of the day. Ryan made sure all my questions were answered and offered guidance about setting the heating level. Kevin and Ryan made the whole experience easy. I had an awesome experience with Green Tech Plumbing. Scheduling quote and repair was very responsive (even over the July 4th holiday weekend). They were very flexible with communicating via phone, text and email to meet my preference. Tim was great to work with in my home over the course of the repair. With the added strain of Covid-19 constraints, he took every precaution to make us feel safe. As for the significant pipe leak repair, it definitely required expert experience and more than a little ingenuity in order to deal with a very tight space. Tim handled it with ease, finishing early and significantly under budget. He even took the extra time to answer questions and give advice on smaller plumbing issues outside the scope of the job. Amazing service! I contacted Kevin on a Saturday about a sump pump that wasn't discharging all the way to the end of the pipe. Kevin assessed that the outdoor pipe was frozen over the phone and walked me through a solution. I fixed the problem by creating a bypass, but created a new one by making a shoddy connection. Kevin said he would swing by to take a look at it - when he came he ended up running a new PVC pipe away from the house until the spring when his team can come out to do the needed repairs. He is a lifesaver and likely saved me from a flooded basement! What a great business! I hope I don't have too many more plumbing needs, but if needed I will choose Green Tech for sure! read more

We would not recommend Green Tech. They are very over priced for the overall work they did and while they fixed the problem, they created another problem. We will take blame for not checking this ourselves before they left. We let the service tech check things when it was our house and money. Suggestion for people needing a Plummer : 1) Get a quote first. 2) confirm/test that the solution was fixed at your satisfaction. You should double check their work before they leave. read more

Green Tech was one of the many companies who responded to my Yelp post for sewer rodding. They answered questions directly and gave me a price for their service and what was included. I ended up calling their main number and talked to Bill, he got scheduled the same day. A plumber came out that afternoon and rodded out the main drain. That night, the main drain backed up again, so I called the following morning at 6:50am. Bill called me back right at 7:00am, knew me by name even though I didn't leave a message. He said he would send someone out by 10:00am that same day. Richie ended up being at our house by 9:00am. He proceeded to rod out the main drain, alternating cutting bits each time until he finally broke through. He sent the camera and showed me the footage to the street sewer, so I knew it was fully cleared. Although not ideal to have the sewer back up again, it is nice knowing how a company responds to a situation like that, if and when it happens. Bill is great on the phone and Richie was amazing. My experience with these two guys gives me a lot of confidence in the company and would use them again. read more

I contacted Green Tech for a kitchen faucet installation. Kevin responded promptly, gave a very reasonable quote, was easy to communicate with, had a great sense of humor, and dispatched someone out to my house right away. Sean showed up right on time, was very polite, got right to work, finished replacing faucet, filtered water and two other small fixtures in a little over an hour. We were so happy with the beautiful outcome, workmanship, professionalism, and reliability. Funny story, this was our second go around with Kevin's crew. My husband had been procrastinating on replacing the plumbing fixtures for quite a while and was insistent on doing the work because he is handy and wanted to save the money. Eventually, keeping marital harmony in tact won and I contacted Green Tech. When my husband came home and saw the beautiful work that had been accomplished in a third of the time it would have taken him, he was so pleased. As we talked about who I had hired, my husband remembered that when we had had an issue with our plumbing about 2 years ago, we had Green Tech out to rot out our lines. I had not even realized we'd used them before. For that previous job, we experienced the same reasonable price, quality workmanship, professionalism, and reliability. Not only that, but they gave us great advice about the toilet paper we were using and we have not had an issue with our plumbing since! This was big news because it was becoming a semi annual headache having to rot out our plumbing twice a year. This is such a wonderful example of above the bar integrity. I had a couple problems with my kitchen sink and a leaking garbage disposal. I asked for a quote via yelp and 5 other local companies were sent a quote request by yelp. Green Tech responded right away with a price. All the other companies prices were either extremely unreasonable or the other companies would show up very late or cancel on me for their "free estimates" that they wouldn't do over the yelp app. I called Green Tech to set up an appointment and they were able to set up an appointment with me that day and within a couple hours. My plumbers name was Kyle. He was extremely professional, knew exactly what he needed to do and seemed to be very knowledgeable. He was quick, clean, and extremely quiet. Kyle was so quiet in fact my 2 year old son napped the entire time he was here cutting and replacing pipes with his saws and wrenches. Kyle cleaned up after himself and gave me a full explanation of what he did, and gave me a couple pointers about my old garbage disposal. Not only was Green Tech's estimate the best price out of the 6 companies contacted the final bill actually came under their estimated price. 5 star review. I like Greentech; I can communicate with them honestly and they are super responsive. Gino, the Greentech licensed plumber, is efficient, genuine and effective at what he does. The old wallet's feeling a bit lighter after being slapped with a $900 fee for what, two johns(standard round toilets) that I supplied to the plumber, along with a rubber and wax ring that I had on hand. Sounds a bit rich to me, doesn't it to you? No curveballs thrown in the way, no pesky repair flanges to contend with(because i removed it), and yet...the plumber decides to slap on his own putty instead of opting for the tried and true gasket? Not to mention the job was done in two hours on the dot. ($900 for labor??) A bit curious, I must say. Had I known the final tally, I might've taken matters into my own hands. A bit of elbow grease and a trusty flange removal tool, and I would have been all set. And so, my friends, it seems like it's time to put pen to paper and share my experience with the world. Let others know the ins and outs of these plumbing shenanigans without holding back on the details. After all, knowledge is power and power is..well, you know the rest. (A side note, he removed a water filtration from under the kitchen sink that was supposed to be removed on the last visit. Also he found clay like grease in the pea trap that was also supposed to be snaked the last visit as well but apparently didn't happen, so these tasks should have been complimentary) read more

Greentech has been our go-to company for our plumbing needs ever since we found them on Yelp about 6 years ago. Over the years, we had them rod a sink and bathtub, install a new bathroom sink and toilet, replace a sump pump, and put in a new kitchen faucet. Today we had Greentech install a new water heater. When we started hearing unusual noises coming from our old water heater (crackling and sizzling noises), it was very quick and easy to get an estimate and to get installation scheduled. Chris did the installation, and he was very professional and courteous. Turns out our old water heater was overdue to be replaced by about 10 years! We appreciate the thorough explanation Chris provided on the new unit. We have a good understanding of what is needed to make sure the water heater operates as it should for many years to come. I had an issue with my sump pump and I emailed 4 different plumbers for a quote. 3 of them offered to come out and fix it for $X...Kevin wrote me back immediately and said "call me on my cell, you can fix that yourself no problem"...and he was right. We've had Green Tech out twice to fix problems, and both times they did outstanding work! The first time, we had noticed a small amount of water by our hot water heater, so we thought it was leaking. Green Tech came out, investigated, and found it was actually a broken toilet seal on the floor above the hot water heater! This saved us the money and stress of having to replace our hot water heater! (A plumber that our home warranty company had sent out earlier that week, on the other hand, told us we needed a new hot water heater and hundreds of dollars in unspecified plumbing work! We are grateful that Green Tech was honest with us about the problem.) Yesterday, we had Green Tech out to fix a water line problem. Apparently when one of your children flushes down the toilet you need a plumber. All 3 children claim innocence, but I'm pretty sure the 7 month old who can't move (yet) is the only truly innocent one. Before I realized a stick had been flushed down my toilet we were having some issues with it not flushing so I turned to Yelp to find a plumber. My husband mentioned while we were having a plumber come check out the toilet we should also have our sump pump backup looked at because he was skeptical it was actually working. I sent Green Tech Plumbing a message thru Yelp and heard back (literally) within 30 seconds from Kevin. I asked for someone to come to my house on Thursday morning and Kevin said he would have someone there at 8am. It was almost too good to be true, but a very friendly Tim from Green Tech Plumbing Co was at my doorstep a few minutes past 8 on Thursday. Tim checked our sump pump and confirmed it was working. I appreciated that he didn't even try to sell me a new one. From there he went to work on the toilet and pulled out the stick a few minutes later. He charged us for the hour labor (I believe $180ish). A very expensive stick, but happy a found a reliable and trustworthy plumber for future issues. In the meantime, no sticks allowed in this house! read more

We had a couple of issues with the service. The biggest issue was the cost. After service they were rude saying he specifically stated it was $100 minimum for any service, however during the original call it was vague and not specific. The service was less than 15 minutes (included removing a small part from a garbage disposal with a pliers and filling up the sink to watch the pipes to ensure there was not a leak). The charge was $100 dollars due to what Green Tech said is their minimum charge, so be prepared if you need anything that is their minimum charge. Other issue is not major, but to note that the technician or Plummer needed our assistance with the issue. Had to hold the flashlight for him and also needed to provide the tools. Maybe the staff did it to make it quicker, but was a bit odd. read more

Chaun from Green Tech was great to work with. He came over the first time expecting to do a minor service, but as we both slowly figured out, I needed more extensive work than expected. He was very professional and understanding. He came over the next time with the correct equipment and went above and beyond in fixing unrelated issues that would have caused major problems down the line. And still, after that we had a leak due to a product deficiency (not an issue he was involved with) and came back just to basically tighten up everything and stopped the leak. Guess what I didn't check Yelp on this company. I just saw some reviews online elsewhere and decided to try them. Glad I did try them- I should have checked Yelp and I would have found them quicker and used a coupon too! Kevin and Mike were total professionals and didn't rush anything - the double water heaters were expertly installed and the whole house water filter also done beautifully. Oh well I didn't see the Yelp coupon- my fault! But I am very satisfied and I know quality work when I see it. I highly recommend this group.
